Below the Acropolis, at the foot of quaint Plaka, Monastiraki centres on a pedestrianised square with a Byzantine church and a metro station. From here, Ifaistou Street hosts a bazaar displaying leather goods, cheap jewellery, antiques and army surplus, while Adrianou is lined with open-air cafés overlooking the Ancient Agora. A flea market is held here on Sunday mornings.

das hotel arion in athen ist ein sehr zentral gelegenes hotel, man kommt zu fuß gut überall hin und es hat mich sehr überrascht dass das hotel nur 3 sterne bekommt.... rundum war ich sehr zufrienden, gut man muss sagen dass die unmittelbare umgebung des hotels bei nacht nicht wirklich vertrauenserweckend ist und auch der blick aus dem zimmerfenster […] einen nicht umhaut, aber für reisende die sich gerne athen anschauen möchten, hat das keine bedeutung. die zimmer sind recht überschaubar, aber modern eingerichtet, das bad allerdings nur durch eine milchglasscheibe vom rest des zimmers abgegrenzt, hat mich als alleinreisenden aber nicht gestört... frühstück ist auch ganz in ordnung, für jeden was dabei und bei einem 3 sterne hotel wirklich ganz gut!!! hat mir sehr gut gefallen dort, weil es zum einen in unmittelbarer nähe vom monastiraki platz ist und zum anderen ein sehr schönes kleines modernes hotel ist!!!! unbedingt empfohlen!!!!
