Located in the historic heart of Athens, this hotel is across from the Temple of Olympian Zeus and Hadrian's Arch, 100 meters from the New Acropolis Museum, and 500 meters (0.3 mi) from the Acropolis. Constitution (Syntagma) Square and the commercial center of Athens are also 500 meters away.

On the southern edge of Plaka, the pedestrianised archaeological promenade skirts the foot of the Acropolis, cutting between the pine-covered slopes of Filopappos Hill and Herodes Theatre (built 2 AD), hosting open-air performances through summer. Close by is the New Acropolis Museum, designed by Swiss architect Bernard Tschumi.

"Street Noise!!"
Clean, modern well located hotel with great views of the Temple of Zeuss. The front facing rooms have large glass fronts which have POOR sound insulation. "Great view but dissapointing facilities"
The hotel has a good view but there is nobody receiving you in the door, the elevator is old and very small, you have to pay 24 euros for wifi connection for a 48hour period. The restaurant didn't have some of the courses described on the menu, a Greek mojito was full of ice on a small glass and almost no cocktail at all. I went to this hotel because of reviews and was very dissapointed specially when I later stayed in the Royal Olympic and had a great experience, much much better hotel, super clean, huge bed, great view, better restaurant, they are waiting for you at the door, free wifi, swimming pool, great elevators and overall great people. "Location too noisy if room faces the highway"

"Decent Choice"
Athen's Gate is a decent hotel near the Acropolis, a good spot for exploring the city. The hotel is clean and reasonably priced; the room had a balcony with a great view, which was a big plus. "location, location, location..."
This hotel can boast itself with probably the best location in Athens. Our room was along the main road overlooking the Temple of Zeus...i thought we were shortchanged wishing i had a view of the Acropolis from our room but when we went up the rooftop restaurant where they serve buffet breakfast we were overwhelmed by the view of both the temple and […] the Acropolis.... it's a 10 minute walk from Syntagma square where the last stop of the bus from the airport ends, and the new Acropolis Museum is just at the back, the hop on hop off bus has two stops right near the front...if you're looking for a hotel with a good location----stop looking, this hotel is it... NOW if you want a big space, this is not for you....the room is too tight even the contempo decoration cannot compensate....service is a bit stiff, one that you can easily forget. "Not a luxury hotel but located in very close to the Acropolis Museum & Plaka."
Stayed at Athens Gate for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon. We stayed in Room 101 which is located on the first floor. The hotel has 7 floors of rooms and floor 8 is the hotel restaurant. The hotel is located in a very strategic position with close proximity to the New Acropolis Museum and Plaka (both no more than 5 mins walk) with tavernas and restaurants […] and shops very close by. Hotel was renovated in recent times so room looks relatively modern and is clean & tidy. Our biggest gripe is that room we stayed at faced a main road (which was very busy all day long) and was not well insulated from noise. So beware of this and either try higher floors up or rooms not facing main road, but I'd pack earplugs just in case. Service of employees varied with some very professional and friendly while others seem to not want to interact with guests. They have two computers in the hotel lobby which are free for guests to surf the internet and a printer if you need to print anything.. We had dinner one night in the hotel restaurant which was really enjoyable - great service, great view of the Acropolis at night and to our surprise great food! Just note the portions are big so we both ordered 3 courses which was too much food. 観光名所に近く、アクロポリなどよく歩くことが多いためすぐに休憩に帰ることが出来よかった。 また、近年改装したためか、とても奇麗で快適に過ごすことが出来る。しかし、大通りに面しており、下の方の部屋だったため夜も車の音などは結構大きかった。静かな環境を求める方にはお勧めできないが、少々にぎやかでも眠れる方にはお勧めできる。 上層階のレストランからの眺めはすごく良く（アクロポリやゼウス神殿などがよく見える）、朝食時や夕食に利用出来るのが良かった。Genuine Expedia guest review
