Set in a palace built in 1862, locals call the Hotel Grande Bretagne the 'Royal Box'. Guests enter through rotating doors into a lobby with Corinthian columns, Persian carpets and neobaroque-style furniture.
The skylit Winter Garden is the setting for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner with piano music. The high-ceilinged GB Corner restaurant's signature dish is Dover sole meunier. Open all year-round, the GB Roof Garden serves cocktails and Greek specialities from the grill.
The GB spa features a mosaic-lined indoor pool, sauna, Turkish bath/Hammam, reflexology foot baths, and treatments like hot stone massage and Oshadhi herbal wraps. The tree-fringed rooftop outdoor pool affords Acropolis views. A fully equipped fitness center is also on site.

GB Corner - Located on the ground floor, overlooking Syntagma Square, this restaurant is popular with hotel guests and well-heeled residents alike. Occupying a double-height space with a mezzanine, it is open daily for lunch and dinner. The signature dish is Dover Sole Meunier with Lemon and Olive Oil.
Winter Garden - Two Corinthian columns in the lobby frame the entrance to the Winter Garden, an atrium space with a stained glass ceiling, potted palms, large mirrors, and two enormous Oriental vases. It remains open all day and serves English breakfasts, light lunches, high tea, and dinner to the accompaniment of piano music, as well as coffee, drinks, and snacks throughout the day. The signature dish is Grilled Chicken Breast with Potatoes, Spinach and Bacon Strips.
GB Roof Garden - Open all year-round, this rooftop restaurant commands splendid views over the city. It serves evening cocktails and dinner, with a menu featuring Greek cuisine and barbecued meat and fish dishes.
The picturesque area of Plaka is ideal for a morning or evening stroll. Above Plaka, just one km from the hotel, stands the Acropolis, the most important monument to the Ancient Greek world and a must-see for first-time visitors to the city.

My wife and I spent 2 night at the GB before departing for the islands. It's a very nice hotel in the middle of Athens near all of the sights. Excellent rooftop restaurant, nice spa, and a very relaxing place to spend a couple of days.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very good but overpriced!"
The hotel is centrally located and ideal for sightseeing. The SPA has excellent facilities and a big hit with the kids, but the therapies hugely overpriced (double of any other 5* Hotel I stayed in Europe, States or Asia). Paid for an upgrade to deluxe rooms but still found them not big enough for the price. The staff were helpful but did not go out […] of their way to make this a memorable stay as I am accustomed to when I pay this sort of money for a week's family holiday. The hotel is stunning although the reception staff were abrupt, so that didn't start our stay off well. The room was clean and beautiful but the bed was quite small; we asked for a large bed but got a standard double. The rooftop restaurant has stunning views, although I'd suggest eating in the GB Corner restaurant and having drinks at the rooftop bar. […] Far more menu choice at GB Corner, better food, and you don't pay a premium for the view. The pool area is small so can ge busy. "Hotel Grande Bretagne / muito bem localizado"
É um hotel elegante, bem localizado, do restaurante tem-se uma vista espetacular da Acrópole, e está próximo das melhores lojas. O café da manhã poderia ser melhor, mas de modo geral o atendimento é bom.
