Near Syntagma Square, home to the Greek Parliament, Athens’ most expensive residential quarter is the domain of wealthy Greeks and foreign embassy staff. Glamorous socialites frequent the fashionable bar-restaurants, chic boutiques and designer stores. A funicular serves the pine-clad slopes of Mount Lycabettus, and several of Athens’ top museums are within walking distance.

"Awful hotel - not worth it"
This is one of those hotels that looks great in the lobby. I had to move rooms because the first room I got smelled like an ashtray. They were very fast, and moved me right away. The TV did not work. The room smelled musty. Those things didn't bother me.... as much as the two (yes, TWO) times that the showerhead fell on me while I was showering. The […] first time, I thought maybe it slipped and it was an accident. It hit me in the middle of my shower, right on top of my head. I didn't bother to tell the staff about it because I thought maybe it was a one-time thing. But, the next morning, the same thing happened. The toilet would not flush very well- you had to pump the handle to make it work. The food was mediocre, overpriced - except for breakfast. The view in the breakfast room is indeed wonderful, and the food is good. Not great, but definitely good. I will say, that when I complained to the manager in the morning, he was apologetic and very nice. He asked what he could do to make it up to me. But I also didn't care much since I was checking out. The staff was very good - polite, concerned, and asked how they could help. The room was immaculate and the cleaning staff did a great job. But overall, I would definitely not stay here again. Paying too much for internet, suffering through the bathroom annoyances - sadly not worth it just for nice staff and a good breakfast. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Needs Updating"
The hotel is old and tired. We had mold in our bathroom and the room hasn't been updated in 10 years. The TV set was older than I was. We did have a great view of the Accropolis but the noise from the restaurant/bar below us was really loud. This is no where near a 5 star hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Two stars too many"
I've been staying at the St George for nearly 10 years, and in that time the place has gone downhill fast. It's now a three-star hotel, still charging five-star prices. The bedrooms were always small, but now they're falling to pieces too: the showers leak all over the bathroom floor because nobody's replaced the seals; the duvets are unbuttoned at […] the bottom so come apart while you're asleep; the TVs in some rooms are boxy and don't work; and on the lower floors in particular, the walls are so thin that you may not sleep. But to management, it's as though everything is still hunky-dory: champagne breakfast (that's a bottle of champagne, toast and strawberries) costs 100 euros plus a "discretionary" 25% (!!) service charge; car parking is about 20 euros per day; and wifi is a breathtaking 8 euros per hour - not that you'd be able to do much more than book a ferry ticket within an hour, so slow is the connection. All this is a real shame, since the staff are generally great and the location - panoramic views from central Athens' swankiest neighbourhood - is perfect, at least for those able-bodied enough to climb the steepish hill. But overall, this is nowadays a hotel to avoid. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Under the expectations"
Rooms are really small. You can't open the fridge door properly as there is no enough space... NO PRIVACY. You hear the neighbours talking in next room all he time. Carpets look old and dirty... I was expecting something better...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just an old hotel..."
There was no room service after 1 am... The staff was not friendly at all... The room was very old, with not many facilities... There wasn't even radio in the room... The balcony had a very dirty and old table, with 2 disgusting chairs... The bathroom was very dirty and old... Even the shower gels and the shampoos were the cheapest with a very bad smell... […] When I had the checkout, a very bad incident took place also... There was an alcoholic lady that she was screaming to the people and she was smashing things in the hotel... Nobody stopped her... The reception staff didn't call even the security of the hotel... I would never be back to this hotel...
Genuine Expedia guest review
