Bathroom radiator didn't work, and it took over 2 hours to sort out - well into the evening before we had to move rooms. With an elderly parent, this was not ideal. However, receptionist was very helpful and so was one of the men staff in moving us.Fantastic breakfast.

I arranged for 5 of us to stay at the hotel as we were undertaking a cycle of the South Downs Way. After making the booking, I explained to the hotel we would be arriving any time between 9pm and 11pm. When we arrived at 10:30 they were ready to check us in and had arranged a storage facility for our bikes. Unfortunately we had to go home sooner than expected due to family illness so unfair to judge. My impression on the whole was that of an old building that had rooms which were a little tired. The breakfast was of a good standard. The staff were most helpful to me when I left my jacket in the room! They posted it back to me very quickly.

We stayed in room 246. Small room but everything accounted for apart from the bottled water which was in the welcome book but when we asked reception, they stated that it isn't included with the room?!? Room is rear facing so no real view but we were tucked away which was ideal as we took our little dog with us. On arrival we asked where the dog was […] welcome. He wasn't really. Only in the room. This made it hard to get to the bar as we wouldn't have wanted to leave him in the room on his own so we ate out more than we ate in. There are many little nooks in the hotel so it would have been nice if they could have set aside one of these for the dog owners. With regards to the room. As mentioned, it was small but the bathroom had looked like it had been recently refurbished and we were suitably impressed. Now I think of it, the radiator did make a really funny noise every so often. Like it was filled with stones & they were being blown about. Strange! The big draw back to this room is the window in the bedroom itself. It opens fully from the bottom so should you have had the window open, you may have had an attack of vertigo as there is a drop from the second floor! My suggestion is some sort of restriction on the window to stop it from opening so fully. We had breakfast delivered to the room as we had the dog and I must say it was wonderful!!! As I said, we can't comment for the rest of the food but I would recommed the hotel for the breakfast alone! :o) The staff were all very pleasant and the new receptionist (She had trainee on her badge) was very helpful. :o) We were, barring the staff, probably the youngest people staying at the hotel and we are mid thirties, but all the people seemed very friendly saying good morning and commenting on the dog. :o) All in all, it was a very nice stay so thank you all. Immediately we arrived we were told that we were being upgraded to a sea view room, which was unexpected. The room was excellent with all we needed. Ensuite facilities spotless. Hotel very welcoming with lots of lounges, sitting areas, etc. Breakfast was superb and set us up for the day ahead especially as we were at a conference. The hotel is ok but needs updating. I was cross that they allocated me a smoking room even though I booked on line and was promised a non smoking room. I think they thought I was making a fuss when I asked them to change it. On the whole the hotel was comortable and breakast was good. Room was a bit small and old fashioned decor

We really emjoyed our stay at the Lansdowne. Being disabled myself it was excellant that we could park just across the road (in the disable bays for free) The staff were friendly and most helpful.
