"Fantastic room and service"
We had a superior room in the small lodge at the foot of the car park, it was absolutely excellent. Underfloor heating in the bathroom, massive comfy bed and very peaceful and quiet. The staff at check in and at breakfast and extremely attentive, would definitely recommend, we'll definitely be going back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Night owls beware!!"
It's 11.30pm on a freezing, wet night. We're not long in and after getting dried I'm sitting reading when the heating goes off. I phone the night porter who can't help beyond telling me there are extra blankets! My wife and I went to bed to keep warm, as reading wrapped in a blanket isn't my idea of fun. The room, and especiallly the bathroom, was like […] a tomb. The bar closes at 11pm. The whole hotel seems to go into lockdown at 11.30pm, so night owls, like me, beware. The 'legendary' breakfasts are just normal with a few decent touches, and the sausages taste mainly of cereal. On the morning we were leaving, we were running a bit late, but since checkout wasn't until 11am we thought we'd be OK. Then the receptionist rang to see when we were going to check out - it was 11.01am. At least she apologised about the heating. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good hotel in very pleasant surroundings."
A good hotel in very nice surroundings. The staff were very helpful and attentive. The room we had was clean and more than adequate albeit very warm even with window open. My only suggestion would be that the bathrooms should include a proper over bath shower rather than just a hand attachment for use when having a bath..Genuine Expedia guest review
"Situated in great area"
An excellent hotel with friendly staff and great foodGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fantastic Location"
We stayed at the Regent for two nights and had a fantastic time. The location is great, right on the lake. We booked a superior room which came with an amazing view. The hotel was very clean and modern, breakfast was delicious and the staff were very helpful and friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Superb staff, great location & food.cannot fault it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very comfy and clean"
Smooth, efficient and most welcoming check-in. All staff on reception very friendly. Breakfasts superb. Room very comfortable;a couple of down points with bedside lights too low to read a book due to low wattage, type of shade and low position. Only one towel rail in bathroom placed directly in line of shower and nowhere else to hang towels so we were […] permanently shuffling them out of the way as each was using the bathroom. Apart from these couple of points, everything was absolutely spot on. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A nice place to stay!"
Friendly efficient staff who were helpful and flexible.Genuine Expedia guest review
"lovely hotel"
A lovely hotel with very friendly, helpful staff. The food was excellent and it was great not having to rush down for breakfast (they serve until 12). The walls seemed a little thin and we could hear the next door occcupant on his mobile (though he did seem a little irate!) . I think we would upgrade the room next time we stayed but overall we thoroughly […] enjoyed our time in the hotel and would definitely stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Recommended"
Very polite and friendly staff. Breakfast quite good, and overall a positive hotel experience. I would recommend the Regent to others.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to boats"
Staff were very friendly and most helpful, nothing was to much trouble. Service at breakfast was first class and meals served hot and well cooked. Although you are not overlooking the lake as the hotel is hidden behind an inn it is only a few yards walk to the lakeside. I would recommend the hotel to anyone wanting a quiet comfortable base to tour the […] lakes. We will go again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"2 night stay at the Regent with the dog"
We stayed at the Regent for 2 nights with our dog as a base whilst trying out a few of the walks along Angletarn Pikes. The hotel was a great choice and I would recommend it as a place to stay in Ambleside, although slightly out of the town centre its only a 2 min drive up the road. We did debate whether to stay in the town or by the lake but decided […] to go for the lake option which we would do again. The hotel was clean, tidy, comfortable, modern and in a good location with parking. The staff were very friendly and there always seemed to be plenty of them about, especially at breakfast. We couldn't fault breakfast, there was lots of choices and the cooked breakfast was delicious, the staff came round constantly asking if you want more coffee or more toast. As for taking the dog with us the Regent was very dog friendly, even put a bone in the dog bowl for our arrival, there is a pet shop directly across the road for any items you may have forgotten which is very handy. Overall we would recommend the Regent to anyone looking for a good base in the lakes, especially those looking for a great dog friendly hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice peaceful break"
Nice hotel, very quiet, which is what we wanted, lovely room well prepared. We had one of the garden rooms which helped the peace and quiet as it was away from the road. Was a little bit of repair work going on but didn't interfere with our stay. Breakfast was good and substantial, served until 12noon which was a good idea for us. It is a good 10 minute […] walk into Ambleside, which even though is along a main road is quite poorly lit at night. We didn't eat at the hotel as we were visiting others who had arranged alternatives. Overall a nice hotel would recommend a stay Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Excellent Ambleside Hotel"
We loved staying at the Regent By the Lake Hotel. We were very impressed with the staff who were extremely friendly, and helpful. They showed us to our room when we checked in (very unexpected, but nice)! The room was spacious, and very comfortable with a sofa which was relaxing, and the hotel was also in beautiful surroundings, with the Lake just […] over the road. The breakfast was particularly good - the restaurant was very clean and pleasant, and there was a lot of choice, including Belgian Waffles, with Maple Syrup which was a favourite of ours. We would highly recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

we booked a double room with bath and found they only had room with shower available. As we are both disabled this was pretty useless. We were not happyGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Lovely hotel in interesting, busy small town in The Lake District. Good quality fittings and linen and the restaurant had superb food at breakfast and dinner. Staff were helpful and pleasant.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Would go back (when it stops raining) a very wet time in the lakes"
We enjoyed our stay very much, the staff were attentive at all times and nothing seemed to much for them, food was very very good we would go back againGenuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent Lakes experience"
Very friendly and comfortable hotel in great Lake District location. Room was well appointed and clean. Breakfasts excellent. All staff were very friendly and efficient. So much of the Lake District has become 'tacky' and crowded this hotel at Waterhead and Ambleside is a perfect base for a break or holiday.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not a Hospitable Front Desk - Staff Training Would be Helpful"
The Expedia site had asked if I wanted 1 bed or two and I had indicated two beds which was clearly printed on my reservation (which I handed to the clerk at check-in). Reception seemed totally unfamiliar with the fact that the Expedia site allowed one to check off the number of beds the travelller wanted and they insisted that they had no twin beds […] available at the time I made the reservation and certainly didn't have any available at check-in. They insisted that I was in error about the Expedia web-site. They argued with me. The front desk staff require training about internet bookings. They clearly wanted to reserve the double rooms for any potential walk-ins but the hotel was only about 1/3 full in the 3 days that we spent there. My 23 year old daughter was not impressed with having to share a full bed (not even a queen size) with me, but we always try to be polite guests and very mindful of looking after other people's property (we are the type who make our own beds each morning and tidy up after ourselves in hotels). It's an older building that has been nicely decorated but the corridors are hot! Does one need the heat on in the middle of the summer? Maybe it's to keep the damp out... That being said the ensuites were very small but nicely fitted out and the sheep on the bed is a nice touch. The in-house dining room food was plentiful and good but it was like a library in there at meal times. Too quiet, formal and stuffy! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Wonderful break"
This hotel is in the perfect location, is immaculately clean with pleasant hardworking staff. The food, especially the evening meal was outstanding, one o the bet meals I've ever had...wonderful. The communal lounges were comfortable and relaxing. I would definately return and reccommend to others.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Schoenes Hotel direkt am See"
Das Hotel liegt 2 min vom See Winderemere entfernt. An der Jugendherberge kann man sich guenstig Kanus ausleihen. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
