This was not our first trip to Edinburgh, and we wanted someplace convenient yet modernized and not as noisy as the hotels right near the Royal Mile.... Princes Street Suites was a great discovery, a renovated interior in a classic older building, with guest suites that are like efficiency apartments -- a bed/dressing nook, couch/TV area, dining area and kitchen ample enough to do your own cooking. Also in-room laundry machines. Contemporary furnishings; nice bathroom and reliable air conditioning. The hotel has free wireless Internet but we found the connection quite unreliable in our particular room. There is no real hotel lobby to speak of although one can buy sundries and make various arrangements in the reception office. There's a rooftop terrace with a scenic view of the city, although we didn't have a good opportunity to use it. The hotel is very near restaurants, shopping, train and bus stations, yet its immediate block is quiet. This would be a perfect choice for a couple or small family spending a week or longer in Edinburgh during the Festival season. Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Aug 14, 2012
