"Great City, Great Location, Great Hotel"
Upon traveling around Britain I had stayed in some very small rooms that lacked the American standard of cleanliness... this hotel is the exception! Hotel room was quite large, room was clean, friendly staff, excellent location, all around good experience! Upon arrival hotel staff was friendly and check in was quick and efficient. We got a large room […] on the top floor (though we only booked a standard room) with a nice size bed and bathroom. Room was clean, tv was large, cool view of the city. "Great location"
We stayed here for 3 nights over the easter weekend. We stayed at the front of the hotel and it was so noisy at night we didnt sleep till after 5. We asked to be moved the next day but all the rooms were full. We were finally moved the last night but then the fire alarm went off at half 3 in the morning and we were all evacuated. Didnt get much sleep […] over the 3 nights but its a nice hotel, lovely pool and spa and smack bang beside everything. Moral of the story request a room at the back! "Not 4*, more tourist class"
Spa is unloved. Gym is grubby with old equipment. Rooms were nice enough, but quite small. Staff were nice, but manager seemed unconcerned with customer problems. "Fantastic location"
It may be a little unfair to rate this hotel at 4 instead of 5 stars, the quality of service was excellent, little interaction with staff but when we did it was professional yet pleasant. Our room was spotless and the location is superb for everything - new town, old town and on an excellent bus route. However it just didnt feel like a 4 star stay. […] I understand that this is an old building, but the decor felt dated, though well maintained (no stains, marks, tears came to my attention). Our room was clean and comfortable, but very small and cramped, it just lacked that 4 star feeling. The breakfast was fine, not entirely to my taste; if you get a room-only rate I highly recommend a traditional Garfunkel's breakfast in Garfunkel's restaurant around the corner on the high street. "Excellent Location"
Enjoyed our stay except for the second night when someone let of the fire alarm at 2:50 a.m. and we had to evacuate the building. We were out for nearly an hour and without much information. Hotellet ligger precis vid The Royal Mile. Entrén är fin, men rummen och frukostavdelningen är dåligt underhållna. Vi fick ett rum som låg mot The Royal Mile. Otroligt lyhört, man hörde människor festa fram till 04:00 på morgonen. Sängen var hård och inredningen väldigt sliten. Heltäckningsmattor överallt som städades dåligt.
