"Proximity to airport can't be beat"
This hotel isn't anything great, but its proximity to the airport makes it a very solid choice, especially if you are arriving late. No need for a taxi - simply walk across the street. "Perfect Airport Location (and great Guiness too!)"
Arrived around 10pm, so being able to just walk across the street to the hotel was great. Lobby, restaurant, and room were fine - not big on atomosphere, but completely adequate and functional. Clean, bare necessity type of property within 100 meters of the Birmingham airport. Easy walk after a long flight. This is not the Ritz but for easy, reasonable travel, I would highly recommend. This Novotel is very convenient for anyone needing accommodation close to the airport. The rooms are comfortable, clean, well appointed but small. Travelling with heavy luggage makes movement difficult. Room service was prompt and the food was better than average. If you need to stay close to the Birmingham airport there is no more convienent hotel. This place is on the other side of the street from the terminal. The rooms are a bit spartan but fine. The staff was courteous and helpful and the restaurant was nice, but overall it was the worse night in a hotel I've spent in years. Every time a toilet flushed, the pipes rattled for several minutes. The hotel is directly opposite the main terminal building and it is just a 2 minute walk to check-in. There is no covered walk-way between the hotel and the terminal so beware if it is raining. I was there las week to go to the NEC and this would be the best location if you are flying in and out from Birmingham. Bang opposite the airport terminal you can just walk out of the airport and into the hotel. Breakfast for grt and the staff all know what they are doing. Overall a fantastic place. "Not convenient if you're not travelling"
The reason I was staying at the hotel was because I was working at the nec . I booked it on line to save money . When I arrived by van the driveway entrance was so narrow I scraped the whole side of my van , I could not enter so I had to leave my van in a restricted area and carry my 3 heavy bags to check in . There is no parking so you have to park […] in the local NCP at £22 per night , you are given a discount voucher which still works out at £13.80 for the night and breakfast is a wopping £15.80 or an extra £3 if you have it served to your room . So what I thought was going to be good value turned out to be quite costly . When you book the secret saver hotels on line things like parking and costs should be explained and whether it includes breakfast or not and at what price . So overall I wasn't too impressed ! Stayed 1 night in Aug 2011 before an exhibition in the NEC. Location great just across the road from the Airport Terminal which has a direct link to both the train station and the NEC. "Convenient for the airport, but not that good!"
Entrance to the hotel is quite smart, but once you get to the room, it's like entering a different world. The room was quite grubby and obviously well used being an Airport Hotel. The bed wasn't very comfortable and I'm glad I was only there for a few hours sleep before getting up in the early hours for a flight. I certainly wouldn't want my flight […] to be cancelled forcing me to stay there an extra night - that would be too much. On the plus side, it was quiet, the restaurant was decent, the location is excellent for Birmingham Airport, and it's very easy to get to by rail or road.
