The hotel check in was quick and easy however was informed the code for the secure parking was not working and so was charged the full price for secure parking that was not actually secure. The food/drink in the restaurant in the evening was good and a reasonable price so would eat/drink there again. However, the sausages at breakfast were clearly uncooked […] and served anyway so would not opt to have breakfast again. IN terms of the room I did not liike the fact that as a single female traveller i was put on the ground floor which doesn't normally happen. I found the room very dated and the bed very uncomfortable as constantly squeaked in the night. The bathroom cleanliness was very poor especially the shower and the shelf unit. "Run down"
Hotel in a similar price range to the regency which sits directly opposite (which I stayed in the week previously), however the hotels couldn't be further apart. The management do try to make amends with touches like fresh fruit and a cafetiere with fresh coffee bean and tea leaf in the rooms, and towels formed into swans etc like you might find abroad, […] but unfortunately this can't save a hotel which is well overdue refurbishment. The public facing areas - bar, restaurant etc are perfectly acceptable, but this doesn't extend to the rooms I'm afraid. The hallways are musty and stifling, the stairways creak from being such an old building, and the walls have various dents and scuffs. The rooms aren't any better, the window latch didn't shut properly, the paint was peeling from the window sill and there was mould around the edges of the glass. I didn't fancy taking off my socks after seeing the carpet. There was a shoe(!) under my bed when I arrived, and the picture on the wall had a damp stain on it! Normally when I see similar reviews to mine I take them with a pinch of salt, as the hotels normally aren't half as bad as made out, however on this occasion I would give this hotel a miss. I'm not usually a person to complain or leave feedback but unfortunately on this occasion I felt I had to. The hotel is conveniently situated near Whiteladies road and the hotel restaurant was directly below the hotel with a fantastic food menu. When I ordered my evening meal (15% hotel resident discount) I proceeded to the beer garden to enjoy the […] views. After 45 minutes of waiting I returned to the bar to find out that the order had not been out through. The room was compact with no air conditioning and was stifling, however this was unavoidable because of the brief spell of sun! the fridge within the room was not turned on and was mouldy which was disappointing because an ice cold water would have been welcomed. Tea and coffee facilities and cable TV were good and a bowl of fresh fruit was available. The final disappointment was the enormous wood lice in the bed sheets as I pulled the cover back! "Nasty receptionist, load at kight I could`nt sleep"
the room I was is so tiny witout bath but the worst was the lady at the reception who is so unhelpful and rude at the same time. She kept me at the reception for hours and asked me to go away as I beg her to check me in the room have booked paid for. This hotel is quite comfortable but older and small-ish, but has some quirky features. The student type decor is comfy if low key, the food good in the restaurant on the ground floor but very busy and noisy at the weekend. I was only expecting fairly basic accomodation in this hotel as we got it so cheap but i was pleasantly surprised. It is not incredibly fancy and the rooms are quite small but it was cosy and the service was fantastic. Everyone was very friendly. The only flaws would be that the room was very warm and also breakfast the next morning wasnt fantastic. "Great atmosphere!"
The hotel is part of a very nice bar/restaurant/music venue and, well, I know its not for everyone, but I quite enjoyed having quite a lot of people around, particularly as I was travelling by myself.
