"Run down shabby rooms"
This hotel is not a 4 star as decrisbed in our booking with Expedia. The rooms are worn with shabby furniture. The bathroom was dirty, old soap had been left on the wash basin with hair on from the previous visitor. Only bonus was it's location.Genuine Expedia guest review
Awful. An absolute disgrace that they charged so much for a sub standard room... Toilet flush was a problem, lights didn't work and no response at all from reception to get anything fixed. Added to this, the place was heaving with rugby fans so we could not get to the bar, had to justify ourselves constantly for entrance in to the hotel and the hotel […] corridors were extremely noisy with Rugby fans all night. They should warn people on booking that there is a rugby event and that this can be expected - I am disgusted at what I paid to stay there. It totally spoilt what was to be a lovely weekend. "Great general hotel"
Brilliant location for easy access into town centre. Really kind, helpful staff. The only downside for me was the rooms were very hot as you're unable to change the temperature of the heating, only turn it off and open a window, which in turn, do not open far for safety. I'd also liked to have paid a little extra for the room in order to get free wifi […] and maybe parking, but that's my own fault for not reading further into the hotel before arrival. "Pleasant enough"
I think £5 per hour or £16 for 24 hours internet charge is expensive. Staff were courteous and helpful. Breakfast was quite good. Room was perfectly adequate. "No bang for you buck......"
Overall the stay was disappointing. I have stayed in 4 star rated hotels before and this certainly was not even close. Starting with the building itself, it does have a modern exterior from the street but as soon as you walk in there has been zero remodelling from presumably the original hotel which is very dated. Front end services was cold and un-welcoming […] but room service was prompt and helpful. As for stay, I was very disappointed. The most recent hotel I stayed in with the same rating was the Double Tree Minneapolis, which was by far a much better outfitted and amenities rich experience. One thing that did frustrate me was the lack of free wifi. I use my computer quite heavily when I travel and was extremely disappointed at not only the fact wifi was not free but that it was so ridiculously priced where buying it would cost me the same amount for a whole nights stay! The room may look fancy and modern in the pictures but it is very small and the fixtures, cupboards, wardrobe, and bathroom are very cheaply outfitted. Even the simply amenities such as coffee and tea were cheaply supplied with simply a boiler and instant coffee. There is much more I could get into but I wont waste your time, just as you wont waste your hard earned dollars with such an ill fitted and costly hotel as this. Just stayed here for two days. Couldn't get into car park because half of it was closed off. So had to leave car across town. Only one lift working. Had to wait for lift or climb 6 floors. Booked a superior twin room as I was with my 13 year old son - they tried to give me a room with one double bed which was obviously unacceptable. Eventually had a room with twin beds with some sort of 'executive' package which included bottled water and robes but certainly wouldn't class as 'superior'. A refund for the difference in cost was refused. […] Very noisy, there was a disco in a marquee within the grounds of the Millenium Stadium which we were not told about and did not sleep on the Saturday night at all, which spoilt the weekend. Dark, wet and cold in December....an overnight stay next to the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff for the Rugby: car park full and the manager Dermott was standing in the pouring rain organising extra parking for his guests!! Now that is service. We have a large mobility scooter and when he spotted this, he moved the car from the car park next door, into […] a reserved space by the hotel...he was great, thank you. Inside we were unable to get the scooter into the lift so had to use the service lift...staff were brilliant and made the job easy for us...note to design architect; wider doors required on lift!! Hotel is superb location oposite castle and virtually next to the Millennium Stadium. I stayed at the hotel over a weekend whilst taking in the Rugby League super league magic weekend over 2 days at the Millenium Stadium. Fantastic location if you are attending a stadium event. Clean comfortable hotel. Rooms a little small and double beds are doubles […] and not king size as in a lot of hotels. Bar prices and food prices not cheap but the town centre with many pubs and resturants is 2 mins walking distance. Be prepared to not have car parking space in the hotel car park when an event is on at the Millenium Stadium as hotel very busy and car park not big enough for all guests. Went to cardiff with my 18yr old daughter, my sister & 17yr old niece as the girls went to a JLS concert and we thought we would do a bit of xmas shopping and make it a girly weekend. We left home early in the morning but due to two cancelled trains we arrived at the hotel after lunch. We were still a bit to early for checking in but the reception staff […] were lovely & seeing the room was ready we were allowed to take our bags straight to our room.It took just minutes to book in and they were so friendly, made up for the awful morning. Went to the room just to drop our bags and it was lovely to find the room lovely and clean (been to some bad ones) with a view of the river & park. Had a lovely weekend as everything we needed was in easy walking distance, shops bars restaurants cardiff arena and train station. Will definitly be going back. When we got to ourroom we had no towels so wehadto go to reception, when we returned from our shoping th towels still had not arrived and thekettlewas leaking this was rectified immediatley. The bar prices were outrageus,1 x G&T +2 glasses of Wine and 1 Cappuciono cost £24, wow !!! questioned te pleasant barmaid but she just shrugged, Restaraunt menu […] was a bit restricted. "Great value for sightseeing"
The rooms are small but clean and the hotel is basically next door to Millennium Stadium and Cardiff Castle. Also about a 10-minute walk from the rail and bus stations.
