"Absolutely Fine"
Nothing fancy, just a comfortable night in the centre of town.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient for Derby railway station"
The Hallmark is a traditional Midlands hotel which has been upgraded, but only to a certain level. It just about passes on comfort, but is not luxurious. The older, original part of the hotel is somewhat noisy due to creeking floorboards and there is also no lift. If you need this request to be in the newer section. The main advantage of the hotel is […] it's proximity to Derby station, making early or late travel easy. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The best I've stay in Derby"
Ideal location 20 seconds from the train station. Food was nice nothing to lavish and it was priced right Groumet card is excepted on food and drink giving you an extra 25% off Service was ok, restaurant staff were a little lost when it came to paying and understanding the bill on checking out got a little confusing Overall on my next business trip […] to Derby I will be booking here again. "100% convenient"
The Hallmark Hotel is probably the most convenient place to stay... literally outside the door of the train station (although the noise is never an issue) as well as bus stops to almost anywhere in the city and a fleet of taxis for those areas where the buses can't take you, it's the ideal position for the person who arrives in Derby by public transport. […] The hotel is clean (mostly) and comfortable, although we did experience a few issues during our stay... A room service tray was left uncollected from 13:00 and was still there at 08:45 the next day. The bar is not staffed all the time and often you have to wait over 5 minutes before someone passes by and notices you. The service in the restaurant is good, although they do insist on sitting you on top of other people already in there, instead of spacing diners out when it's not busy. the service in the bar area during the day is very poor - only being asked once if I wanted anything over a 3 hour period, despite the opportunity to sell me something for lunch. On the whole, the hotel is good and the reception team are always 100%. It's a shame that they are always let down by the bar/lounge staff's poor attention to customers. "Hallmark and Hallmark"
There are two Hallmarks in close proximity - one is a Hotel and one is an Inn. Be sure to specify you are in the one nearest the railway station if you order a taxi to collect you! It will help to avoid the confusion that my taxi driver suffered! I do find these hotels a bit impersonal and the staff are efficient and enough and say all the right things, […] but a smile wouldn't go amiss! The room was fine, smaller than I have been used to in a 4 star, but fine. Breakfast was good but just the same as everywhere else. If I needed a hotel in that location again, I would stay there just for convenience, but prefer somewhere a bit less formal. :) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A railway station stop-over"
The Hallmark at Derby is the old Midland Hotel which is right by the station and very convenient for this reason. It has been refurbished to a point and is comfortable enough to stay at, but there are certain things which would make it feel better i.e. keeping the entrance clear of litter. Generally the hotel is well looked after and clean. It is not […] in the centre of Derby and the area around the station, as is often the case, it is not that good. "A great hotel - but a huge let down..."
Everything was perfect the evening and night of my stay however this was ruined entirely at breakfast when one of the waitressess announced to her colleague "I am so sick I am on antibiotics". - not the sort of thing one wants to hear whilst being served food.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Hotel but dirty room service menu"
The hotel is nicely located and has clean good sized rooms. Check-in was not so great, firstly I was told there was no booking for me, then I was told my booking was for 2 months in the future. After I provided booking evidence they apologised and told me I would be booked into a quiet room. I ended up in a room opposite a noisy boiler! In the room […] the room service menu was dirty and greasy so I decided to dine out. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel, shame about location of room"
Great stay however on my confirmation it said i would have a garden view instead i was over looking a road and building and by the sounds of it right near the bins! Lovely hotel, nicely decorated but get a garden view room!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just a bad time I guess..."
Stayed 2 nights in a single room facing the station. Location is great especially if you arrive late by train. Despite having turned off the radiator the room was boiling hot, and unfortunately if I opened the window (which cracks open about 10 cm) I could hear the drilling that was going on (until 1 am and started again around 5-6 am) much louder than […] if the window was closed. Then there were the banging sounds... It should be ok once the engineering work/road work just outside the hotel is finished. I still think the room will be hot in a hot day (spotted a desk fan under the table). My room was small but the single bed is generous. Bathroom was ok, water was good, amenities are ok. If you arrive at midnight be prepared to hang around at the locked entrance door knocking and yelling until a staff sees you as the door bell didn't work... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Derby Hotel"
Having been coming to Derby on business for some six years now I decided to change where my team and I stay and was delighted with the Hallmark. It has an executive feel, smart, clean and helpful and well trained staff. The rooms are comfortable and large. I will use this hotel for the next Derby trip.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel next to rail station"
Very good service and hotel. Next to the Rail Station and walking distance to City Centre and Westfield. Good vaule for money. I go back regularly.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hallmark Hotel Derby"
Very convenient for station; room clean and reasonably spacious. Dinner in restaurant was adequate but service a bit slow; starter a bit disappointing; buffet breakfast was good but very understaffed and coffee never arrived for me (or others around me) despite the waitress doing her best to deal with all guests / seating / drinksGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel, right by the station"
Good stay - v convenient for the station, but make sure you don't get a front-facing room as can be noisy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hallmark Hotel Derby"
Hotel is close to station with a reasonable restaurant and bar area. I have stayed there on several previous occasions but this was the first time I had had a single room. Reasonably spacious but the fan in the internal (no window) bathroom kept running for a long time after the light went off which was annoying. The hotel advertises free-wifi but in […] my room the wifi was wireless via a plug-in adapter which the hotel provided on request. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
