"Wonderful way to spend the night between flights"
Last time I did not realize that there were two Heathrow Hiltons. I stayed at the Terminal 4 one last time which was wonderful, but this one has much larger rooms, so I chose it this time. It does involve a bus ride (8 pounds round trip) and there is nothing worth seeing in the neighborhood, but I had a wonderful night's sleep and would recommend it […] to anyone. I did not pay extra for the breakfast buffet and was happy with my porridge and late at Starbucks at the airport the next day. "Hotel NOT in Terminal 5 as advertised"
I selected this hotel as it is advertised in the title of the hotels.com listing as Hilton Hotel - Heathrow Terminal 5. I anticipated a late arrival at Heathrow and early departure the next morning and was looking for the most convenient location possible. After transporting all my bags from Terminal 3 to Terminal 5 (requiring a train trip on the London […] Connect) I saw only a Sofitel. I asked the Concierge where the Hilton was located and he indicated I needed to take a taxi there, requiring an additional 20 minute wait and 30 GBP! Upon my arrival I found the check-in process took a LONG time. After checking in the restuarant was closed ... so all in all as I frequent traveler I wouldn't stay there again. The hotel is a 30 dollar cab ride away or a 7 dollar buss ride away from terminal 5 (and the buss does not always comes when expected!). other than that is just another 3 star, small room, boring hotel. I travel alot with business and often stay in this area, usually at the comnpany recommended hotels around Egham/Ascot. However seeing this hotel on offer on Hotels.com I thought I would give it a go. It really is a stunning modern hotel. There are 2 restuarants, bar, coffee shop, spa/gym - so everything you could want. The rooms I have stayed in are very clean and modern with comfy beds. The only downside is the £12 per night parking charge. I understand why this is imposed - it is an airport hotel afterall - but I have to take this into account when comparing prices of staying here vs the other hotels I use. Guest relations service desk staff need retraining. They donot know how to charge debit cards effectively that one ends up paying twice for the same service. My credit card was over debited twice and it was a diffucult task gettong them to understand and reverse the over billing. I get a sim alert any time my credit card is debited that was why I knew. […] For guestswith no such facility I wonder what will happen. The staff also need training in effective communication skills. Most times they seem not to understand or communicate effectively. In addition, I forgot my laptop charger in my room at checkput when I came back from the airport to pick it, the room had been fixed and I could not find it. I was told to check back by monday to see if the cleaner has turned it in to lost and found! I live outside th EU and was flying out that night so I had to go without it! This does not give the hotel a good image. I was traumatized by my experiences and I don't think I will like to stay at the Hilton T5 anymore. The experiencesjust put me off. The hotel itself is very nice and comfortable. However, the transit options to the hotel are a nightmare. The hoppa bus is allegedly a good option but after waiting for almost 30 minutes for the right bus to come after flying/immigration was grueling. Excellent new hotel, built in 2011, with first class staff - but not (despite the name) close to Terminal 5. There is a shuttle bus service (if you know about it, which I didn't), but since it is out of London Metropolitan Area, some of the licensed black cabs will ask for £65 for a 5 mile journey.
