We checked into the hotel at one location, then had to pay for a taxi to where we were actually staying. When you walk through the front door you're hit with a putrid odor (something like mold and rotting flesh) so we kept our windows open for the duration. After climbing up 4 flights with our luggage, we tried to rest but the whir of the mini freezer […] took alot of getting used to (we finally unplugged it altogether). when we went to freshen up, we noticed the sink did not drain. We left a note about it as there was no phone in the hotel, but it was never fixed. They don't have daily maid service. The nearest pay phone was nearly a block away (the one outside the hotel had the phone ripped out). One morning we walked to the train and hopped over a dead rodent. A bare bones hotel. I've stayed at many hotels through years of travel. This one is at the bottom of the list. First, no phone anywhere in the hotel. The pay phone outside had no phone in the booth. The hotel smells rancid. The water was only working intermittently on our final day. There's no on-site management. Our sink was clogged and no one came […] to fix it. We had to check in at a different location then paid for a taxi to where we were actually staying. The office did not open in the AM until after we checked out and there was no drop box for the key. Overall I feel this was a sub-standard hotel for the money and I have worked in hotels for 24 years. Read more

We enjoyed our two-night stay and found our accommodations to be especially comfortable and pleasant. Although we had booked at Welby 20, we were upgraded to another house owned by the company several blocks away on Fellows Road, and actually had a roomy and newly renovated flat there. The couple traveling with us had a nice efficiency room at the same […] place which they were also pleased with. The staff, and Daniel especially, were very helpful and even let us leave our luggage in the room for an extra two hours after the usual checkout time so that we could explore Camden town before leaving for our late afternoon flight home. Hotel rooms in London are usually small and generally expensive, but our accommodations were roomy, modern, and a great value. The renovation of the stairs and hallways was obviously incomplete but ongoing, and the entire place should be very nice when finished. We did have quite a walk from the rental office at Welby 37, but once we were at this house, we were an easy 10-15 minute walk from the nearest tube and shops, and a 5 minute walk from a nice little cafe. The property was in a quiet and attractive residential neighborhood, and there was a coin-operated washer and dryer on premises. The rooms had a stove, refrigerator, sink, dishes, and table and chairs, so we were able to fix breakfast and have cold drinks and snacks on hand--very convenient and economical. Read more

The appartments were clean, although they were a little bit oldfashioned. The office was not open at any time during the day and this may cause problems in checking in and off. It doesn't offer any breakfast. I think that it is a good place to spend lots of time in london without spending too much.
