"Basic hotel done well"
The hotel met all my expectations: comfortable beds, clean and well maintained, polite and effective staff, safe location, and close to transportation links. The closest tube stations are actually West Brompton Station and West Kensington, which are both a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Despite the hotel's name, Earl's Court is actually a bit further […] out (about 8 minutes walk from the hotel). It's a basic hotel, so no dining options in the hotel itself, no mini bar in the rooms, and no room service etc. I did not feel the lack of these services since there were lots of dining options along North End Road, and there are grocers in the area as well as a supermarket, which is about 3 minutes walk from the hotel. And you can always order in. Breakfast is included and is available from 7 - 11 am. If you're going to need internet service, it is extra. Unless you need it for a very short period, you're probably better off just getting short term data service from a local phone company. Being that it is London, the rooms and beds run small (as compared to the US). Also, the hotel has this energy conservation system with heat and light, where your room key is needed to turn on the lights and heat. It takes a while (5 - 10 minutes) for the heat to turn on, which was a bit inconvenient. Once it was on it was fine. The things that annoyed us where only the very soft bed and the very hard sofa bed used by the children. The hotel is located in zone 2 of the tube, not in an exciting area but there's a supermarket close by and some fast food places to eat. It was a 5 minute walk to the tube station and took between 10-15 min to get to the main attractions in central London. The quality of the service in general was great: friendly staff, clean hotel, good breakfast (same […] one every day but substantial: eggs, cheese, sausages, fruit, yogurth, bread, coffee, tea, juice, cereal), comfortable room (ok-size, nice shower), free wifi in the lobby. It could be argued that the hotel has no character and is not exactly central but after an unpleasant experience in a "no-brand" hotel that was located closer to the city center we were very happy to stay in a reliable, comfortable hotel with rooms of a decent size. I stayed here on a sightseeing trip to london with my sister. It was a 7-8 minute walk from West Brompton tube station which takes you to the banks of the Thames for all your sightseeing needs. The room was clean, nicely presented and a good size. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We couldn't fault the breakfast, always well stocked, a good […] selection and very nice. There was a bit of a queue both mornings at around 8.30, so be early if you don't want to wait. My only complaint would be about the air conditioning in the room, it take about 15-20 minutes to warm up and ours wouldn't blow when the room was too hot. This was an issue when the windows are locked shut. It meant that the room was too hot in the afternoon and cold when we got in at night. Hotel was in a bustling neighbourhood with a lot of noise and traffic, however inside the hotel it felt calm and peaceful. No traffic noise heard in bedroom which was suprising given proximity of road. Bedroom servicing very good, room kept immaculate. Hotel entirely adequate for our needs as a base to explore London. West Kensington tube only 5 minutes […] walk away although at night this walk could feel a bit dodgy (wouldn't think older people would feel safe). Breakfast was generous although I found the waiter could have done with a hand to clear the tables more efficiently which let the appearance of the dining area down.
