"Location, location, location"
The location can't get any better. the only draw back is our heat didn't work properly. but the staff was quick to bring us a a space heater which work very well. "Great Location"
Walking distance to Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, Covent Gardens, Big Ben and the London Eye. Coming from California, this was a great place to stay if you want to be in the hub of London. Nothing to say about the location which is good (but then again there are other hotels around that location and much better at similar price). The biggest disappointment was the temperature of the room. I visited in November 2012 and their heating system is very bad. I was told to leave the heat on while not in the room to get the room warm but the […] maids made sure to turn it off so I came back to a glacial room. Did not use other services but the hotel had a bad smell in the lobby (food mixed with vinegar). The reception is placed on the right of the entrance and is weird. All in all, a fine stay for a business trip. Strong wifi connection was a huge plus but the rooms particularly on the 2nd floor were very minimal and needed updating. I got moved to the 3rd floor per my request for a quieter room and those were better and more updated, including the hallways. Did not realize the lobby restaurant is not part of the hotel […] but they were kind enough to let me bring my coffee, mug upstairs etc. Checking in was a little clumsy for me...they did not seem welcoming at all and checkout I noticed a small but time consuming line formed in the morning. This is a good value hotel, recently renovated, in a very convenient location. The rooms were clean. I attended at the end of the 2012 Olympic Games and the room rate was very reasonable. As a result, the hotel is not well known even to the normally well informed London cabbies. When we checked in, it was impossible to get room service (too late into the evening!). Our stay at the Grand was very plesant. We arrived a little early and our room was available at advertised time. The staff were very accomodating. The dryer was broken but they gladly offered to have house keeping pick the clothes up in the laundry room, dry and deliver them to our room. The hotel is very nice and well located half a block from Trafalgar Square and within walking distance of a number of other sites. We had to get two rooms, one for our kids and one for ourselves which made it a bit pricey as a family hotel. The windows were awkwardly located and small but we did have a great view of Big Ben from our room on the 9th […] floor. The kids had a view of the building next door.
