The University of London and the British Museum give Bloomsbury a bookish air. Charlotte Street offers good restaurants, while Tottenham Court Road has electronic stores to suit all budgets, and links to the 300 shops of buzzing Oxford Street. Trendy Soho is a few minutes away by foot. Full of local character, it offers interesting pubs, top restaurants, West End theatres and a rich, sometimes risqué nightlife.

Reserved a room with crib/cot for 1-year-old and check in at noon. Arrived at noon but was told room would not be available until 2:00. Allowed to access room at 2:00, but room was not ready; had a sofa bed pulled out and no crib. Finally got cot at 3:30 and they had borrowed it from the Clarendon (adjacent hotel). Room had no air conditioning and no […] fan. Requested a fan, but they "could not find one". Windows' top panes were painted stuck in place, and could not open bottom panes because there was no screen or bars to protect baby. This was by no means a four-star hotel; it was more like a mom-and-pop bed and breakfast... without the breakfast. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Highly recommended"
My first but not my last stay at the Portland. Excellent value, Very quiet residential street but close to two Tube stations and buses and within walking distance of Covent Garden, restaurants, shoys, etc. Rooms were well appointed, clean and comfortable and staff were very polite and responsive. Thank you.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

L'hôtel est trop loin du centre animé de Londres.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We had a great stay at the Portland, excellent location, and spacious well-kept rooms. Having read some of the previous guest comments about noise from the street, we requested a quiet room off the street since we had our baby with us. The hotel wasn't able to accommodate this last-minute request, but instead upgraded us to a very spacious room which […] was fantastic, and we actually didn't find the noise from the street disturbing at all, so all in all we're very happy with our stay. For families travelling with children: there's a small playground 100m from the hotel in Bloomsbury Square Park, quite unusual for London and another great advantage of this hotel's location! "4 stjerner?"
Pluss: beliggenhet og rolig gate Minus: Harde senger og at vi med barn på 2 år får rom i kjelleren Helt klart ett 3 stjernes hotell og ikke 4 stjernes som annonsert.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
