I was visiting (from the USA) my aunt who has metastatic cancer and wasted two hours of my evening before I was able to see her (possibly for the last time) because nothing worked when trying to get access to this hotel's network with my fairly new MacBook Pro. I even took my machine to the nearby Apple store where John, the very helpful Genius, said […] that there was nothing wrong with its networking. After failing with wireless, I even bought an expensive adaptor to try their Ethernet which didn't work either. Nothing can compensate me for the time lost with my aunt. But I didn't even get a formal apology from the hotel even though the staff could see how upset I was.I write this review from a Paris hotel where networking has worked flawlessly as it has at the convention center across the street. The hotel help just stands around. No good answers to questions on ares,, entertainment, etc. TV is the worst I have ever seen. Tokyo has better channel selection. Poor sound and not flat screen. I've stayed in MANY hotels in London and this hotel is fantastic. The room was a very nice size, with a large bathroom - unusual for London. Hotel is clean and modern with a nice, trendy bar and a restaurant in the lobby. Staff are friendly and helpful. The location is unbeatable. Right across the street from the shopping of Carnaby Street and literally […] steps from the classic Liberty of London and Regent and Oxford Streets. An easy walk to the bars and shops of SOHO and Compton and just a little bit further to the attractions of Covent Garden. Picadilly and the palace are also a relatively short walk as well. The location really is superb. The ONE negative is the lack of free wifi internet. Others have commented on this and I must agree. It IS unbelievable that this hotel does not offer free wifi. That said, you CAN purchase it easily from the front desk of online. And, you can walk across the street and pick up free wifi, with your morning coffee and a nice breakfast, from the Pret A Manger, Starbucks or the pub (forget the name). We were a family of 4 with 2 small children. The hotel is in a great location for families. Very close to the Oxford circus tube station, Regent street shopping and lot of great restaurants. This hotel is in one of the best locations of London. Room is very good, but not large. Overall everything worked well. They do have a gym with a few cardio machines that are fairly good, although it is super hot in the gym (may be able to ask for air conditioning - I didn't). This hotel is very nice and I enjoyed staying there for the most part. It is in a great location near the Oxford Station train. The neighborhood seems safe and had many restaurants. There's a little grocery/convenience store about 1-2 blocks from the hotel if you want to buy snacks or drinks. The room was pretty spacious and the bathroom up to date […] and nice. We didn't eat in the hotel because it was very expensive. There was a charge for internet, we thought it was free, so we didn't use it. The location of this hotel is excellent for a London shopping or Theatre break. On the doorstep of Oxford and Regent street. Clean comfortable rooms, great service and excellent breakfast. Only let down was the Sanook Spa. The attendant told me that there was no Male lockers as all were in use, however the Spa area was empty. The Spa area looked dirty and the pool cloudy so we decided against using it. This hotel has two very good features: an excellent location, and extremely pleasant and helpful staff. There were disappointments, especially poor attention to detail on facilities and maintenance which make it feel more like a four-star than a five-star establishment. The room door was sticking (had to be pulled shut), the curtains are 'net' plus […] white plastic blackout behind, the brocade only for show at the sides, so not a very comfortable feel at night. Satellite TV channels not working, so couldn't watch live football as planned, and even had to miss 'Match of the Day' because sound-only on BBC-1! This is not five-star living! Finally, although the building is wonderfully historic and sensitively preserved, the front entrance could be made more inviting and with a bit more 'pizzazz'. We regularly stay in hotels throughout the UK and my 6 year old daughter declared that this is her favourite of them all. The bed could not have been more comfortable and the room including bathroom was spotless. "At these prices don't settle for a shoddy room"
This is a hotel that wins on location as it's very central and easy to get to (Victoria Line willing). The first room we were given was small and very poorly furnished. The wardrobes surrounded the head of the bed, there were no bed lights and what could have been used for a bedside area was the other side of a panel of wood. "Poor quality hotel, unhelpful management, but good location"
Our whole experience with this hotel was bad, other than its location and the reception staff who tried their best to deal with the various problems. Our room (103) was in poor condition. In particular, the matress was very poor quality, the duvet did not cover the whole bed, a number of light bulbs did not work, the water in the shower ran hot and […] cold and the carpet was torn away from the wall in one corner of the room. We complained and were offered a further room (109) but found that someone had been smoking in this room and so it was not acceptable. After returning from dinner, we were offered a further room (320) which we moved into after midnight. The following day we found that the new room had similar problems and also had a badly stained duvet (which we discovered on our final morning). We made a complaint to the duty manager, requesting one of our two nights to be free of charge. We were offered a free meal (which we declined as we had other plans) and a fruit bowl and water (which we accepted but was not delivered), pending review by the general manager. The light bulbs were replaced and the internet connection fixed, but the other problems were not resolved. On checking out, the general manager apologised and offered us a reduced price stay in the future. We declined this as we did not wish to stay at this hotel again. Did enjoy my stay here until the last day. Location is very good, staff in breakfast room extremely accomodating. Staff on front desk not so accomodating. Booked 2 rooms for 4 nights had a late flight out so asked for late checkout on 1 room only this was granted until 1.00p.m. We decided this was not going to allow enough time for sightseeing so approached […] desk again to see if we could extend this maybe at a charge. We were quoted in a brisk manner that it would be a rate of so many $ which we thought was reasonable. At checkout this rate turned out to be per hour + tax. This I was told was their policy which is fine but should have been relayed to me when I was quoted the $ rate so I could make the decision on how many hrs I wanted to extend my stay for. Hadde en overnatting på dette hotellet. Valgte det pga beliggenheten og ble ikke skuffet. Kun kort vei fra Oxford Circus og alle butikkene i Oxford Street. Ble veldig godt mottatt av en hyggelig mann i resepsjonen. Rommet var noe av det største vi noengang har bodd på. To store senger, sofa gruppe, skrivebord osv. Badet var stort og deilig, rent og […] pent. Minuset var dusj i badekar... noe vi ikke liker. Sengene var litt for harde etter vår smak og det var litt for lytt fra gangen. Ingen støy fra gaten.
