On a one-night stay in London, we chose to stay at the Windermere Hotel. From the start, our experience was great. When we arrived (they allowed a late arrival) we were assisted by the front desk attendant. He provided us with a small map of the area and sites close to the hotel and also a larger map of the greater area of London, both of which proved […] to be very helpful. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was one of the best that we had while in Europe. The staff was very helpful in providing us with what we wanted/needed. Also, because check out was at 11am and we were not leaving London until later on that night, they offered to store our luggage at no additional cost for as long as we needed so that we could go enjoy the sites of London. Our room was quite small, which is to be expected in any big city. Our "double" bed felt more like a 3/4; we had to exercise great care when turning over so as not to fall! This is a lovely little hotel. The breakfast was great. The room was small, but cute and clean. There is no air conditioning. Fortunately we didn't need it this trip but in the future might. The staff was very helpful in finding good places for us to eat. The location is hard to find from Victoria Station. Overall we were happy with it.

Perfect location! Off the beaten path, but so accessible to all things London! I was there for the Olympics and sight seeing so I didn't think that I really cared about quality of the hotel. But, once I was there, the Windermere actually turned out to be a pleasant surprise!

We were in a family room but it was really, really tiny! Barely enough room to move around to get to the (tiny) bathroom with 3 large suitcases in the way. Just be prepared for a BIG DIFFERENCE between what you get in a 4 star hotel in America and what you get in Europe. Pluses are that the breakfast was very substantial and everything was very clean. […] Staff also very helpful. The hotel was in a really great location for getting around London. Close to Victoria station with restaurants nearby. It just seemed overpriced for what we got, but I guess that is because of our exchange rate: Everything in London was just SO EXPENSIVE from the price of restaurant meals, souvenirs and admissions to various attractions. I never thought I would have to pay to see a church (Westminster Abbey and St. Paul's Cathedral)! But all government-sponsored museums are free...go figure! Read more

Loved it, especially loved the helpful, warm staff and how clean everything was. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful and the location was very good. The rooms are small but it is Europe so I expected that and you can't avoid some stairs even with the new elevator but I would come again and recommend it to anyone!

This hotel is in the Westminster District, but is quite a long walk to Victoria tube station. The personel were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very nice. We also enjoyed dinner one evening in their small resturant. The room itself was very small with a tiny bathroom and a very uneven floor. One day it was cool and rainy but they had already […] turned off the heating system, so we warmed up with some hot tea. Our room was on the third floor and although there was an elevator we still had to climb down 4 steps and then up another 4 steps to get to our room after taking the elevator to 3rd. We arrived at 8:00 AM and left our bags with the hotel staff while we explored london until our 3:00 PM check-in time. Hotel staff were all very helpful. The included breakfast was quite good, a buffet selection plus eggs, sausage and bacon cooked to order. A short walk from Victoria station in a calm Westminster neighborhood. Breakfast was good, free wifi in lobby and in downstairs lounge, staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. About 5 nice pubs, a grocery market, Indian Mediterranean Mexican Thai and Pub food all in short walking distance.

The staff was most courteous and willing to help. Our standard double room was small but adequate. The evening restaurant service is staffed by a most wonderful young man from Algeria, who cooked any menu item to perfection with excellent presentation. Breakfast was fine, waitresses taking orders for hot breakfast while cold buffet was also available. […] Best coffee we had either breakfast or late evening. Sticky Pudding dessert was "to die for!" The hotel is in the middle of renovations; the owner finally got approval for a "lift", which was not yet inspected for use -- and we were on the third floor! However, we walked and climbed off all the excellent hotel food and pub fare while we were there. Our room was newly redone with new private 3/4 bath, so everything was sparkling clean. We picked the hotel because it was not too far from Victoria Station, and that worked very well. It was about a half mile which we could do easily with a small wheeled suitcase. The hotel is under construction from about 8 am to 4 pm but it did not really bother us. London was unusually warm in April while we were there so the room was hot at night and we did not want to hear street noise at night. Excellent value. Clean and comfortable, friendly and helpful. Convenient to public transit, plenty of restaurants/pubs, safe and enjoyable walking. Not far from Sloane Square or the Tate; Victoria Station only a few blocks away. Delightful breakfast. We'd most definitely stay there again.

The hotel is more a Hostel than 3 star - no elevator, tiny rooms, very small bathroom showers - Taxi had a hard time even finding it - The staff try but this is not a 3 star hotel - maybe a 2 - 1 facial tissue stuffed in the top of box - floors needed vaccuming, lousy internet connection - Positives, They did refund my stay - Thank you!

This small hotel is located in a quiet residential neighborhood and about a 10 min walk from Victoria station, which then gives you access to all of London via the underground. Service was friendly and the included English-style breakfast was quite good.
