"Nice Overnight Stay"
We spent one night here wrapping up our eight-day trip to London. The staff was nice and the room was comfortable. We got an upgrade when the lights would not come on in the room. Not sure what the malfunction was, but the manager immediately moved us to an executive room since the maintenance people were busy at the time. Warning...do not stay at any […] of the airport hotels if you plan on going into central London often. It takes forever using the Underground and the Hoppa bus is not convenient for frequent trips to the airport to catch the subway. There is the Heathrow Express train that gets you to Paddington Station in Central London in about 15 minutes, but it is expensive and definitely not worth the cost if you use it many times. One of the things I liked the most about this hotel was its location, so close to the airport but also close to public transportation to go to the central areas of London. "Holiday Day Inn at Heathrow"
This was a good Hotel located across from Heathrow Airport and easily assessable by the Airport Hopper busses. It was also very cost effective as most decent Hotels in the London area can be very costly. It does have a nice restaurant and if you arrive late the Bar will serve food so you will not starve to death. I did not expect an ironing board and iron but it was there in the closet. I would definitely will use this Hotel again without reservation. When we returned from Rome, we had a very lengthy layover in London. We choose this Hotel because of its location and transportation availabilities. A quick trip on the airport hopper takes you to the hotel and back to the airport every 20 minutes or so. At Terminal 3 one can catch the Underground Piccadilly line (train system) and you are off to London. The layover allowed us to use the time we had to see a little of London. We were able to go to some of the major spots (Big Ben, Parliament, Westminster Abby, Buckingham Palace and the big ‘Eye” in the sky which as wonderful.) "Good place to lay-over between flights"
Nothing special about this hotel, but it is totally adequate as a place to lay over between flights to/from Heathrow. ...compared with my previous stay at this hotel. Despite being promised the previous Monday that I would have the same room as before, I was given a different room that was not as quiet. Because of the way the iron and ironing board were hung in the closet, it was impossible to hang anything in the closet. For a Holiday Inn, this was one of the better ones. The room was immaculately clean, and the bed was firm, so I slept quite well. Two maintenance issues occured. The air vent in the ceiling directly inside the door to the room dripped a bit, although I didn't notice it until a drop landed on my head as I was getting ready to check out. Our biggest objection was finding the hotel. Thank GOODNESS we had a satnav in our car... or we might never have found it... This is the second time we've stayed at the Holiday Inn Heathrow for an overnight before catching a flight back to the U.S., and we were very pleased both times. Very clean hotel, near the airport, just 10 to 15 minutes in Taxi and we were charged only 15 pounds (couple with 4 bags from hotel to airport). Some airplane noise filters through, but not too bad.
