"Hotel of 110%"
I had a weird feeling right when I checked in. While the pictures were great, something was just "off" about the hotel. One night, taking a cab back to the hotel, I told the cab driver where we were going and he said, "Oh, is that a real hotel?" When I asked what he meant, he said, "We call that a hotel of 110% in here in London." He was implying a […] certain kind of "room service." The hotel was quite comfortable and the food was good. But (i) the room size is somewhat small - just enough for two people to walk past each other, (ii) the reception area was also compact, (iii) the staff in the reception area were not quite friendly and we would have walked out if we did not prepay. "Horrible service cancels out the rest"
Their hotel desk staff was terrible. They wouldn't let us check in early, they were actively rude if I asked questions or for help, they cheerfully made me wait (up to 20 minutes) before they would help me, and then they got the wrong information from their computer on three different occasions (ie, if the rest of my group had checked in already, and […] what their room # was.) They were horrible to work with. I had searched for a hotel that had breakfast and wi-fi included, but when we got there, breakfast was continental only and more than a good dinner, and wi-fi was pay-thru the nose, per day. "Great room, conveniently located."
Stayed here for 8 nights while visiting London. The room was spacious and clean, conveniently located to the underground and within easy walking distance of major streets. Only quibbles were the high cost of internet access and a slight language barrier with some staff members. I would happily stay at the Grange Fitzrovia again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
