Upscale, residential Kensington is best known for its palace and gardens, and for its major museums in South Kensington —the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, and the V&A. Earl’s Court has a wide selection of budget and mid-range hotels, clustered around Earl’s Court exhibition centre. Its Underground station offers good links (District and Piccadilly lines) with trains running to central London and south-west to Wimbledon.

"Good value for Kensington area, nice hotel"
This was my second stay at this hotel. It provides an excellent value for a business traveler who needs a hotel around Kensington. This is not a modern place, the rooms generally are quite small (although there are larger ones available), the service is excellent, the location is great, near by two groceries, a pharmacy chain, the Underground, a Starbucks, […] and a decent steak place..... all within two-three blocks walk. They have some nice touches, like an excellently styled bathroom, top quality towels and linens, and free wireless. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"NOT for families, or many others..."
DO NOT stay here if you have a family. They have one elevator, it takes about 15 minutes to get up to your room (the stairs are even more inconvenient. We had to make two trips in the elevator because our 4 bags wouldn't fit in the TINY lift. The staff was not very friendly. The air in the room was horribly dusty; my computer and drinking glass were […] covered in less than an hour. We had a "family" room and it was smaller than a regular hotel room. Our mini fridge didn't work, and repeatedly complaining to the staff did nothing to correct it (we were there 4 days and complained the first day). Also, the bathroom is also TINY (to be expected in an older building I suppose) but the fan didn't work properly so it was like a sauna in there within about a minute of starting your shower. The location of this hotel is okay, but not within walking distance of much, except the Natural History Museum. And I'm almost positive the bar downstairs dilutes their liquor. I ordered a jack and coke double, and couldn't taste the alcohol, despite it being 10 pounds. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A smart white palace in Belgravia style"
It is a nice place whit all comforts, where you could spend even a longer period of time. The lounge/ bar area is not big but beautiful and cosy, whereas the dining room is just functional, and definitely ugly. A lot of nice old paintings hang on the walls in the corridors, staircases and generally in all the common spaces, and it helps in creating […] a great atmosphere. Staff is competent and welcoming. My room was small but well equipped. The only annoying thing is something which is unfortunately common to a number of hotels in London: windows cannot be opened at all. In many hotels, however, it is at least possible to open the windows a little bit, and this helps a lot. The location is great, since it is so close to good museums, tube station and one can find nice restaurants in Old Brompton Rd and other streets around. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Small room and dysfunctional staff"
Hotel of extremes - bottom line not recommending Very well decorated, clean and has superb location. But, the room was very small and extremely uncomfortable, I kept hit myself on any move in the room, the bathroom size and setting is unfriendly designed. I doubt if other hotels at that cost and star level rent such small rooms with such a small bed […] as a double bed room. The staff is painfully inefficient and failed to fulfill the most basic questions I asked for. Their attitude was like if they are doing a favor. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Clean and convenient with excellent staff!"
I rented the cheapest and smallest room in the hotel. This would not have been a problem but there was a vent/fan in the ceiling that was loudly clicking and clanking constantly without cease and I couldn't put up with the noise. I called the desk and they upgraded my room to a larger room and did not charge me extra, but it was much more comfortable […] (warmer) and didn't have the awful noise. The hotel is a bunch of old converted town houses so you have to walk through many narrow and winding corridors which reminded me of what this area was like 40 years ago when these homes were all separate bed and breakfasts. The carpets are updated colors from that period but similar patterns...perfectly clean and comfortable, excellent wireless availability free. TV wasn't too good, hard to work and couldn't find any decent channels...no guide to availability of channels and made it hard to use, but very convenient location, able to walk many places like Victoria and Albert Museum and tube stop within 100 years, also many grocery stores and breakfast places. I would definitely consider staying there again for the price which was really cheap compared to other rooms in London - just be wary of the rooms with the very cheapest prices. "A charming hotel near South Kensington"
The location is very convenient to Imperial College and the museums around South Kensington. The hotel itself is charming, and the lobby/bar/restaurant area is very nice. Breakfast was good, as was the service there. The elevator is tiny and slow, and using the stairs while carrying luggage is not really an option. I had a Standard room which, while […] clean, was also tiny. It wouldn't have worked had I needed to spend more than one night there. Also, the room key card kept malfunctioning - or perhaps it was the lock itself - to the point of being extremely annoying. Even the staff had trouble using it. Whether this reflects a general lack of keeping things in good repair or not, I can't say. But I suggest getting at least two key cards. Despite these problems, I would use the hotel again and book a larger room. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Don't Stay Here!"
I've stayed at other Radisson Blus before and this hotel is terrible. Staff is surly and unpleasant. Rooms are expensive and loud. We had to move rooms once because they couldn't fix our toilet or heating. Restaurant staff is the worst. They overcharged a colleague of mine on their bill and then accused her of lying about it. Unbelievable. I would NEVER […] stay in this hotel agian for many reasons!! Book elsewhere. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quaint but Lovely"
Other than the size of the room being a bit small and the halls being a bit difficult to maneuver with luggage (all of which is pretty common in London and to be expected), I thought the hotel was quite lovely. The staff were kind and accommodating and the room was in good order. Most importantly, I loved the location -- very convenient to the underground, […] etc. Only negative was the gym was being renovated and that was NOT disclosed on their expedia page when I booked. Might have chosen a different hotel had I known. Overall, great. Would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent location in Kensington"
While the elevator worked infrequently and the room was quite small (as you would expect in central London), the hotel was charming and the staff accommodating and friendly. "Tube is 5 L. to airport from here! TRENDY too!"
What a superb botique hotel...other than not enough front desk staff...the restaurant had great prices...the bar had great prices...the room was great. They had a mini business center...the tube was literally across the street and I got to the airport in less than 45 minutes for under L. 5 I believe!!! THAT was the best thing. It was a little like a […] maze to get through the small hallways to the hotel elevator but I simply loved this property!....what a cute hotel. Full breakfast included. "Incredible location, tiny rooms - location beats s"
My son just moved to London. The hotel was a five minute walk to his flat, and also a five minute walk to the university. Very nice place. The room was the smallest I've ever been in, having no place for my suitcase...had to keep some items on the floor under the nightstand. Front desk is not very good. My room was burning up, they told me what to do […] rather than have maintenance come. Got home that night and it was a sauna in the room. Called again. The maintenance tech came by....he shared they should have had him come up then - he had to go into the ceiling to the unit because the heat was turned on! Front desk staff did not seem to be very knowlegeable about the area, and too many did not speak English very well. That said, the location was great, the room and hotel were nice, and a good value. Radisson Blue is really well located and is near to train station, there are few nice pubs and restaurants in Hotel area. In few minutes of walking you can get to museums that are really interesting for children and adults. Hotel looks really impressive outside and inside, but we expected more from rooms. "I've been at better but good enough"
The room was clean but the beds were rock hard and the bathroom sub-par. The toilet didn't flush well, the sink didn't drain well and filled instantly and there was an unpleasant odor in the bathroom like it had just been used. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. There was an unpleasant odor on the elevator and there were carts of stuff […] blocking the halls on the third floor. "Can't take the heat."
The hotel was very conveniently located within 100 yards of the Gloucester Road Tube station in a nice neighborhood. In the evenings it was a little too quiet from the perspective of places to eat or drink. It's definitely not disability or senior friendly, with required stairs and the potential for a very long walk to your room (and random stairs thrown […] in on the walk). The lift is at the far end of the building from reception and there appeared to be no way to shorten that walk using side entrances. All those were emergency exits. The most unfortunate part of the visit was that it was very hot (for London) and the room A/C barely produced cool air, let alone cold air. It was so hot in the room when I returned to the room that opening the window produced cooler air than the A/C. When I called the front desk to ask for assistance, they simply said the weather was so hot their A/Cs could not keep up, so there was nothing they could do. The complimentary bottle of water provided in the room had mildew and dirt inside the cap and around the mouth of the bottle. Other than the convenience of the location, the hotel didn't do much to impress. There are a number of other options in the area at prices that are competitive with this hotel, so I would suggest checking around with them to see if they fare better in reviews before booking this hotel. "Lovely place to stay"
The hotel was located in a lovely part of London. I enjoyed an easy walk to transportation and shopping. Room service was prompt and the food good. Breakfast was full including beans and toast. My trainee waiter was a little too attentive (please let me sit down before asking me about coffee). My room was very small and a little difficult to get to. […] The lift, which seems to be narrated by Meryl Streep in The Iron Lady, was problematic; it didn't like to move until opening the doors twice. I'd stay there again, just not during the Olympics. "Charming!"
Amazing hotel. Very charming and in an excellent location. All around very nice. Only thing I would recommend is being careful about the breakfast. I asked the front desk if there was a place I could get coffee in the hotel and they told me right downstairs. I go down and order a coffee, and no food at all. Turns out that still counts as a 12 Euro full […] breakfast. That's outrageous. So be cautious of that. Otherwise, I highly recommend this hotel and would love to stay here next time I visit. "Great service and location"
My husband and I had a fabulous stay at the Radisson Edwardian Vanderbuilt. It is a retrofitted hotel that dates back to the 1800s and was exceptionally clean. "Had to fight to get the room booked & confirmed."
Booked 1+ months in advance for a double room and called the hotel directly to specify a non-smoking not ground floor room. That was confirmed verbally. Upon arrival there was no double room ready and we had to be quite forceful to get a twin room in which to change after a very long journey. Left the hotel with the promise of our reserved room for […] our return later that evening. That was not available and we had to stay our first night in possibly the hotel's worst room: a ground floor with a locked frosted/obscured window. Night manager promised a better room for the second night. Following morning had a run-in with the customer service manager who made the observation that any hotel reservation is merely a request and intimated that we ought to be happy with whatever room the hotel provided us. Curious, and unprecedented opinion and presentation in my experience. When I order salmon and the waiter accepts the order and takes it to the kitchen I don't expect chicken and a combative response. Not do I expect to reserve a double room, have it confirmed verbally, and then be told that any hotel reservation is a 'request'. Unlikely to use this hotel, and perhaps any Radisson brand, again with this request/reservation policy which seemingly gives them carte blanche to do whatever they want. When I book a hotel I expect it to be booked and available when promised. I don't expect to fight afternoon and morning to get what I bought. I stay in hotels ~50 nights/year.
