I have been to London many times and this was by far THE WORST experience ever. I was initially shown to a room with hair on the sheets, dried blood on a bathroom towel, fingerprints everywhere, and dirty walls. When I complained, I was shown to a new room with little apology; the staff seemed to think I was just being picky. Upon returning the next […] evening, when the outside air was -1 Celsius, I entered my room to find it at 8 degrees! When I reported the problem, I was asked if while I was away, I had left my extra room key in the slot just inside the door. I had not. I was told that someone should have informed me when I checked in to do so in order to have constant heat. When I pointed out that a system which requires a room key for lights (and in this case ALSO heat) in intended to conserve energy, and like most hotels guests take their key with them. I was met with a blank stare. So, at 2:00am, with no maintenance staff on call, I had to wait almost an hour to get the heat back on -- which is why they leave it on all the time. I asked the desk for a an herbal tea to warm me up; I was brought an unwrapped teabag in a bare hand and told to heat some water in my room. This hotel is poorly managed and, as an American, I assure you that it does NOT live up to the standard this U.S. franchise is known for. "So-So stay at Best Western Cromwell Road"
The room was very small, especially for a 4 star "AA" rated hotle and the price paid. The decor and styling were modern but the room had a musty almost moldy smell that I assume was from the lack of ventalation and possibly an air conditioning unit that was not properly drained. "Tight fit"
The first problem was a dangerous narrow staircase to the cellar, there was not enough room to carry your luggage beside you I had to let my luggage fall to the bottom on its own. We requested a room with two beds and got a room with one bed for myself and my adult daughter. The window did not open and it had bars on it. After calling the reception we were moved to a nicer room upstairs that had two beds and enough space for our luggage if one of us put ours on the counter with the TV. "Miniscule freezing attic room."
Very disappointing. As a single traveler I was put in an absolutely tiny, dark attic room with a minute window in a sloping roof. I could stand on the (single) bed and touch both walls easily - the wall was 1 foot from the bed on one side, and about 1.5 feet on the sloping ceiling side. I think this is the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in, […] and I have stayed in some pretty small hotel rooms in capital cities all over Europe, so this is saying something. It was impossible to change the setting on the air conditioning from anything other than freezing, but I suppose it was good that I even had air conditioning. Lighting was poor - lamp by bedside didn't work. Internet was hopeless - signal seemed strong, but couldn't actually get to any webpages to load. Avoid at all costs if you are on business travel. Unless you're a buisnessman with a suit and 2 shirts in your lugagge, for a 2 night stay, don't go there. Rooms are so tiny i couldn't open my lugagge. Stayed in the 5th floor, the elevator goes up to the 4th and the recepcionist asked if i wanted someone to help me if i needed so... i had 2 very heavy bags... The shower flooded after less than 2 min. […] Not a figure of speech, less than 2 min! And the shower delivered a ridiculous(very little) amaount of water, it was unbeliavable! "Functional and clean at best"
The hotel is conveniently located and clean, but that's it. The rooms are excruciatingly small with the bed only a knees space from the wall. You'll be lucky if your room has a window! We had 3 rooms here and all of us had a terrible experience. The rooms were so small you could reach out and touch both walls. The bathroom was also extremely small. The shower was broken, the tv was broken, the toilet and sink made extremely loud noises, and you could hear every word from people in the hallway. I thought this hotel would be quality guaranteed because it's Best Western. But when I called them about how to get there, the guy was extremely inarticulate and ended up swearing with my husband over the phone. The hotel is rated 4 star but we were arranged into an attic room which was extremely small. I'm quite slim and the room makes me hardly can […] turn around. Also, the hotel's maintenance is terrible. They only have elevator to the fourth floor and since we lived in the top floor (5th floor). We have to carry our luggages all the way up from the 4th to the 5th. The only saving grace is the hotel is very close to the tube station Gloucester Rd. and that's it. I had booked a double bed for one guest and the girl at hotel check-in tried to give me a single bed. When I insisted on a double room as I had paid, I was given a double room off the back corridor at ground floor level designed for handicapped guests. Esperienza sotto la media dei Best Western. Dopo la prima notte NON abbiamo avuto il room service, informato il personale dell'Hotel ci sono stati dati asciugamani puliti ed i saponi senza tuttavia avere il room service completo. Lenzuola e fodere sono rimaste le stesse durante tutta la permanenza. Il Wi Fi prendeva a tratti nella hall dell'albergo […] mentre non ha MAI preso in stanza (!). Anche se la stanza era a prezzo pieno era nel seminterrato (mai informati di questo fino all'arrivo in Hotel, ma del resto questo e' un uso abbastanza diffuso in Inghilterra). Mi sono stati addebitati 36 euro per eventuale uso del minibar al momento del check in, uso che non abbiamo fatto: dopo una settimana dal check out ancora non mi sono stati restituiti i soldi. Insomma, pur restando nei limiti, davvero una esperienza deludente: prima volta cosi' presso un hotel Best Western (che ho scelto per i miei soggiorni numerose volte dalla Turchia agli Stati Uniti). Hotelservicen var bra, området er bra, rommene er rene, men uff så utrolig små. Til den prisen vi betalte og til å være et 4-stjernes hotel (som vi fikk opplyst da vi booket det), var dette skuffende. Rommet bestod av en queensizeseng og omkretsen rundt den var mindre enn en meter (langt mindre). Det var vanskelig å finne et sted å plassere koffertene, […] og skapplassen var svært begrenset. Hotelpersonal war zwar augenscheinlich freundlich, als es jedoch darum ging wirkliche Hilfestellung zu leisten wurde es sehr zäh. Überrascht war ich, als man mich nach dem einchecken in den Keller schickte (Zimmer 826). Das Zimmer hatte kein Tageslichtfenster, sondern eine Art Schacht der nach oben ging und für frische Luft sorgte. Das Zimmer selbst […] war sauber, ruhig aber extrem klein, obwohl ich extra ein Doppelzimmer und kein Einzelzimmer gebucht hatte. Das mittelgroße Bett füllte den kompletten Raum aus, man konnte sich also nur auf dem Bett aufhalten. Das Aufstellen des Kofferhockers war nur direkt vor dem Eingang möglich. Wollte man das Zimmer verlassen, musste man den Koffer, samt Inhalt aufs Bett räumen. Das Bad war sehr sauber aber entsprechend klein. Beispielsweise ragte das Waschbecken leicht über die Toilette, was das sitzen auf der selbigen eine gewisse Übung abverlangte. Warum man ein Deposit für die Minibar verlangte, blieb mir unklar, da das Zimmer keine Minibar besaß. Als Fazit kann man sagen, wer nur eine Nacht bleibt, für den ist es ok, für einen längeren Aufenthalt gibt es garantiert bessere Alternativen - auch in London. Jeg have booket hotellet hér ud fra beliggenheden kun. Jeg havde læst, da jeg bookede hotellet, at værelserne var små - så det var jeg forberedt på. Jeg er ked af den kommende dårlige tilbagemelding, men det var virkelig ikke et godt ophold. Jeg fik et værelse i kælder-niveau med et vindue under jorden ud til en skakt, hvorfra det intet lys kom - og […] vinduet kunne ikke åbnes! Det gjorde, at man på ingen måde havde lyst til at være i værelset, som derfor fremstod lidt som en "hule". Jeg kunne heller ikke opnå adgang til det trådløse wifi fra værelset - jeg måtte op i lobbyen for at opnå adgang. Gulvet og væggene på værelset var beskidte med spindelvæv og støv. Sengen og badeværelset var upåklageligt og pæne og rene, fin plads. Men gulvet og vægge i selve værelset var på ingen måde ok. Det blev skam gjort rent hver dag, men jeg tror ikke at der blev støvsuget - kun rengjort badeværelse og seng. Endvidere var servicen ved checkin uhøflig og forhastet. L'hotel è molto pulito, in una posizione centralissima e davvero fantastica; ciò nonostante, pur avendo prenotato una stanza doppia (chiedendo anche due letti separati) ci hanno dato una "singola uso doppia", una stanza minuscola, si faticava a girare intorno al letto che non era nemmeno matrimonaiale ma poco più che una piazza e mezza! Il lavandino […] del bagno era più piccolo di quello di un camper, impossibile appoggiare quasiasi cosa! Chicca finale, di notte ogni rumore delle stanze vicine veniva percepito come se fosse nella nostra stanza... Infine, nonostante le rimostranze, ci hanno detto che non era possibile cambiarla perchè a Londra sono tutte così (?!?!? non mi risulta proprio!!!!) perchè stavamo solo un giorno e perchè avendo prenotato da Expedia non potevamo pretendere più di tanto! most terrible service of the reception staff I've ever had: arrogant, totally uninterested and when something went wrong (like a loud alarm went off very early in the morning, in the room!) they couldn't bother to apologize.
