My husband and I stayed at London Hyde Park (previously Ramada Jarvis Hyde Park) for two weeks and were pleased. The front desk and concierge were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a GREAT location and great access to parks (Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, St James Park within walking distance) This was our first time in London and we were able to […] access everything either walking or taking the tube. You really couldn't ask for a better spot. I would highly recommend the cafes nearby (particularly Cafe Diana#. I had seen some pictures from other travelers that painted the hotel as dirty, however, having been there, I can say that the hotel is clean and those pics represent old or faded sinks/faucets etc...but not dirty. Certainly the hotel needs to continue updating which it appears to be doing, My only complaint is that as the room doors are heavy, the housekeeping at times did a poor job of being sensitive to people being asleep in the morning and would go in and out repeatedly and let the doors slam repeatedly down the hall. I had been warned that having a window by the road #side road not front road) may be noisy, however, that was not a problem rather the noise from the hallway. We were really unimpressed after having read that this hotel was considered 4 stars. The hallways and rooms looked very worn and dingy, you could hear everything through the walls, there were dirty towels (hung as though clean) in our room when we arrived, and the beds were really hard. There is work going on in the hotel which did not effect my stay, I am not sure what effect this will have on the hotel. The hotel presently feels very dated, not what I would have expected from the Hilton brand, although you don't really see the Hilton name prominently anywhere, I suspect it has been a more recent acquisition and the work being undertaken […] is to pull the overall standard up. The water pressure in the bathroom sink was hardly enough to rinse a tooth brush, but the shower was ok. On reflection of the price paid, it was not bad value for money, and if on a budget it is perfectly acceptable, however I would rather pay a bit more for somewhere slightly better. That said I would stay again, if as this time it was chosen as a hotel of convenience. The staff are very helpful, and it is clean. "Convenient for visiting friends and family"
This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. It was fine, very good value at the rate I payed and the breakfast was plentiful and good quality.Only 2 small issues it was difficult to adjust the heating in my room is seemed to be set at 19.5 C which was not warm enough for a bitterly cold January, I managed to turn it up but only after much fiddling.Also […] I have had a problem with my 'deposit ' money going back into my bank account. This hotel was covered in scaffold at the front of the hotel and i wasn't impressed initially. The stay was fri to sun so the noise of builders didn't bother us after the first hour of the stay. Was able to check in early (before 1PM I think?)which was extremely convenient as we'd arrived around 11AM. Took about 30 mins from Heathrow and only needed to switch trains once which was very easy. Very centrally located close to Hyde Park and Queensway station. It was only a few minutes walk to the subway. Clean and spacious rooms. We were a bit unlucky and experienced construction work outside the room and there was a little noise between rooms, but no more than that it went well. This location is wonderful as the hop on and off bus stops right in front of the hotel. Tube stations were only a few minutes walk away and so were the city buses, restaurants and small shopping. This hotel was conveniently located from Queensway or Bayswater tube station, about a 5min walk and a total journey time of about 15mins from Kings Cross. Check in was fine, staff were very polite and helpful. (Apart from on our last day house keeping were braying the door down despite the 'do not disturb' sign being present). Located close to local […] shops there was plenty of places to get breakfast, lunch and dinner as I find that £15 for a hotel breakfast a bit vertical. More like 2 or 3 star accomodation. Room size was okay but decoration needs attention and is in need of updating as do the corridors, carpets etc. Our room only had a shower which was fine but the grouting was black with mildew/mould and some tiles and the basin were cracked, not very nice !
