"Rembrandt Hotel in London"
I enjoyed my stay in London in the Rembrandt Hotel. I had been familiar with this hotel after past visits. British Airways had advertised this hotel but hotels.com also mentioned this hotel for almost half the p[rice from British Air so I reserved a room for myself and my traveling companion with hotels.com. Upon arrival I had hoped there would be a […] door man at the entrance to the hotel. There is none. While the taxi driver stayed with my bags I dashed inside and a porter immediately ran to the street to get the bags. I arrived early, at noon, but was immedately given a key to my room. The room is tiny, a non-smoking room, with the two twin beds I had requested. The window is not on the street so the room is very quiet. The carpet was shabby but the room was otherwise clean and comfortable. The room has a TV, hair dryer in a desk drawer, refrigerator with snacks and drinks, pants presser, iron, and ironing board. The bathroom was clean, if not large, and had the expected toiletries. The location of this hotel is absolutely great. It's in a very nice, safe, convenient neighborhood not far from a tube station but on a very busy street. It's just east of the natural history museum and across the street from the V&A museum and Bromton Oratory. It's also just a walkable few blocks west of Harrod's and an American Express office. I had a tasty dinner in the dining room and the included buffet breakfast was very nice. Newpapers are available without charge. There is a nearby Italian restaurant also provides tasty meals for a reasonable price. The Rembrandt's customer service was great. I forgot to pack the contents of a drawer when leaving London. I later emailed the hotel and asked that my things be shipped to my home. After about twelve days (after my cruise) I spoke to someone in the hotel. A couple of days later we spoke again and the hotel still had my things and posted them to my home, at my expense, promptly. "Really bad service"
The hotel is very good in itself ok, but the staff is really bad. They don't answer questions correctly and dosen't seem eager to check it, they just make assumptions. When I asked what a ticket on the subway costs they made a guess and didn't even bother to check it. They also insisted that you can't top up your oyster card with cash. Which is false. Aslo […] I think a 4 star hotel shoulden't charge 3 pounds for 30 minutes on a computer with low internet connection speed!!! My sister and I booked the Rembrant for its location as we were booked for a concert at the Royal Albert Hall. The hotel was perfect and breakfast was first class.
