The service at this hotel was impeccable! The rooms were standard rooms, but clean and comfortable. The hotel is undergoing a 'facelift' but that did not disturb anything. I can't say enough about how well this hotel was run. We arrived at 7:30 in the morning on a flight from the US and they had our room ready, and with a smile. Marriotts are always reliable for a quality stay. However, when we booked the hotel (only having one night in London), we wanted to be centrally located. The description said it was near Trafalgar Square. It wasn't, although it wasn't too bad of a train ride away.

This isn't really a "tourist hotel," in the sense that it's located in a neighborhood that is off the beaten tourist path. Indeed, most of the guests that I saw were from the UK. However, the hotel is close enough (a 3-5 minute walk) to the Swiss Cottage tube station to provide a convenient base for any visit to London. It's a short walk to Primrose […] Hill / Regents Park, Abbey Road, or the American School, and just across the street from the UCL Academy that is scheduled to open later this year. There are a number of attractive-looking local restaurants to choose from near the tube station. It's not an exciting hotel and it doesn't have any old world charm (or eccentricities), but it is an excellent, reasonably-priced option for any visit to London. Read more

We arrived after an overnight flight and our room was not ready yet but they held our bags and offered us use of the showers in the pool area should we want to freshen up. This hotel was very nice and up to American standards--spacious rooms. We were there for 8 days and each day the cleaning got a little worse each day but it was not bad by any means […] (some chipped glasses and they did not remove the pizza boxes from our dinner the night before). They did honor our request for a refrigerator in the room and responded very quickly when we asked for additional towels. They also helped up book cabs and had information on how to get places, even outside of London. The hotel is only a short walk from the tube (subway) station and even shorter if you cut through the neighborhood park (in front of the library). It was so nice to walk through the park and see all the locals using the soccer fields and just relaxing together. We came home late (11pm) one night and it was all very well lit and we did not feel any security issues at all. There are grocery stores, a post office, a drug store, and some great Indian restaurants right by the tube station (easy to walk to). One tube stop further (or you can walk--not that far) and there are more restaurants (try Pizza Express) and even a little mall with a bookstore and movies. My family have stayed in this hotel several times over the past few years and have always enjoyed the experience. The staff are extremely polite and helpful, great choice of breakfasts, and useful to have taxi's avaialble ouside at the ready. Only real criticism would be the surcharge for internet use in our room. As a 4* hotel I feel this should be […] included in the room rate. Business travellers and families alike now expect and want to be able to use devices in their rooms when travelling, and this does seem to be the norm when abroad, yet still an 'add-on' at the Marriott. This is a surprisingly good hotel in a great location. The rooms was newly refurbished and sparkling clean and the staff were fantastic. A far better experience than I expected for a tourist transit type of hotel. I would recommend them to friends and stay there again if needs be.

On checking in the hotel staff were not very informative. It was our first stay in the hotel and they just pointed to the lifts and told us to find the room upstairs. On reaching the floor we were shocked because of the pungent smell of cigarette smoke. By the time we got to the room which was at the corner of the corridor we were choking from smoke. […] On opening the door with the hope that the room would not be as bed as the corridor I was shocked to find that the room was worse. I called the reception and I was kept on hold for 08 minutes. I then went down and told them how uncomfortable the room was and that it was not possible to spend a night in there. The duty manager told me that I did not have to complain because the hotel had not guaranteed a non - smoking room and that was a request at the discretion of the hotel. He seemed to complain that he did not understand why people were booking on the last minute. I was shocked by his statement and asked him if he was complaining. I explained that my husband was asthmatic and it was a health risk for us to sleep there as it felt like being shut up in a smoking room. After a lot of pleading he suggested that we could sleep in a day room on a sofa bed which could not support my husband and I. This spoilt what would have been a memorable night.This was the worst exprience of a 4* hotel as the attitude of the duty manager is a total disgrace.We were told that we should be grateful for the room Read more

Excellent - near the station - came for the concert and was in easy reach. Took the tour bus and it was also convenient. The concierge and his staff were most helpful with advice and providing maps of the area and how to get there - also advising roughly what the taxi cost would be. We had a very long wait for our room, (check in at 3pm), but no room was ready, - it took over 2 hrs before we were provided our room. In that time they gave us a pre printed complimentary hot/cold drinks voucher to use at the chats bar n the hotel ( these been freely handed out and 'pre-printed' in preparation). We were given a supposed upgrade to […] an executive room but this just looked like a standard twin room - regents park marriott need to address this urgently as we weren't the only family who were waiting (lack of staffing is not an excuse, even if this was day after a bank holiday the hotel should have been prepared for the volume of checkout and checkin customers). The swimming pool was adequate for our needs but lacked a jacuzi (had a steam/sauna) though the pool was dated in construction/appearance.The changing rooms are ok but having to use the 15 steps up to the pool and then even worse back down to the changing areas when people have been swimming is clearly dangerous - the sign asking people to dry down before entering the steps from the pool area is a poor excuse at passing liability to the customer, marriott should redesign the entrance from changing areas and back down after swimming asap. The bedroom was also noisy - single glazed! be warned take ear plugs - london is noisy anyway but i do expect hotels of this standard to have reasonable noise reduction mechanisms in place. Excellent service at check in, arrived early before noon and found we could check into our room straight away. Gave us interconnecting rooms as we were staying with another family. Hotel great and did exactly what it said in the tin - what else would you expect from a Marriott hotel ! However the nearby, and only, tube station was closed on the last day of our visit (Sunday). The hotel never alerted us to this issue and as hotel was in North London (Swiss Cottage) this would have seriously delayed the remainder of our travels […] had we not found a nearby overground station ! We wanted a hotel north of the city for easy access to Wembley. Unfortunately both tubes to Wembley Park were closed for maintenance so we did have to taxi more than we'd hoped. The room was large with two double beds with mattress toppers and choice of pillows. The bathroom was the smallest we have ever been in! The restaurant was closed on Sunday evening but the bar food menu was available. When we asked for something from the restaurant menu it was provided. There is building work going on opposite but this was okay at the weekend. Some areas of the hotel need an upgrade but the prices are very good. Very handy for Swiss Cottage tube. We were disappointed not to receive our London Zoo tickets at check-in and there was no effort on the part of the hotel to reimburse us. One side of the otel was on a busy road so it was quite noisy on Friday night. Breakfast was good - plenty of choice. Bar service was very slow.
