Famous for its hotels, Mayfair holds London's most expensive homes and, on Bond Street, its most expensive shops. But the tucked-away pubs, restaurants, and shops of atmospheric Shepherd Market offer affordable local colour, too. Sandwiched between several main roads, Marylebone has a village atmosphere and a charming High Street. Nearby attractions include Madame Tussaud's and the Georgian splendours of Regent's Park, including London Zoo.

Everything about this hotel is a little off. To start, it took me 5 requests at the front desk to get a roll-away bed in the room. We've got two kids. The desk staff insisted that the pull-out couch was plenty big for 2 kids and seemed to ignore my insistence that the kids sleep in different beds. The Internet service at the hotel is dreadful. I have […] a mobile broadband device that was more than 100 times faster than the hotel Internet. Further, the hotel Internet is limited to 2 computers and each time the computer dropped the wifi connection, I had to go through the login procedure again... difficult in the dark when the kids were sleeping. Plus the Internet connect went down every 30 minutes. The cleaning staff disabled the power in the room each afternoon. This meant that our computers and iPads that were charging stopped charging... we always had to struggle to keep our devices charged. The elevators were whacky (no floor selection buttons in the elevators) and the "call elevator" boxes failed once every 4 uses. The car service that the hotel arranged to get us to Heathrow took us to the wrong terminal and then wouldn't drop us at our airline's door (getting kids and luggage as close to the checkin desk as possible is key.) All in all, I wouldn't stay at the Melia again. I'd stay at the Citadines... it's less expensive and the staff is more polite. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The good news: The lobby is pleasant and welcoming and the room and bathroom were clean. The bad news: the room was small and cramped, just 18 inches between end of bed and wall, with no chair. Hallway to room was very stuffy and often smelt of food. The maid service was erratic e.g. dirty cups and glasses were not replaced. Worst of all, the bathtub […] did not drain so showers were taken in ankle deep water (with little improvement after registering a complaint), and bath gurgled when neighbor took a shower. In short, they have a big-time plumbing problem. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Standard rooms too small"
Standard room was about the size of a cruise ship room. Too small for two people and luggage. No attention to detail with the cleaning. Baseboards and door trim very dusty. Pillows old. Hotel lobby, fitness center, restaurants are very nice but it did not make up for the room. If you don't mind a tight fit this hotel is convenient for proximity to public […] transportation. "Not a 4-star hotel"
First appearances of hotel lobby and greeting by doorman were promising and check in was smooth. However, all else was not as promised. In short, the room was not very clean. There was dust on everything. Pillows were so old they did not hold their shape and the mattress was so creaky and old that neither one of us had any sleep. Carpets were old and […] smelly - we kept the window open our entire visit. When housekeeping came in to clean it was apparent that they only made the bed and placed new towels in the bathroom. They did not remove any trash, used wine glasses or silverware. Staff were very nice - although slightly confused. On our first evening, we came back after dinner to find a bottle of sparkling wine had been delivered with a message saying "Happy Anniversary" but with no note as to who sent the gift. We contacted room service and they said it was a gift from the hotel. We knew this had to be an error because although it was our anniversary we had not notified the hotel. We wanted to make sure that it was delivered to the right couple so we went to speak with the concierge who said he would look into it. After a long wait, he called our room and simply stated " Hotel error, not your bottle, room service is coming to collect it now!" Not even a thank you for bringing it to their attention. Finally, the in-room "view bill" service said we were going to be charged over $60 for food and beverage which we knew we had not had. It took a trip to the front desk to clarify this and after some confusion as to which room we were in the charge was removed. With a deep cleaning and some staff guest-training this hotel could be a four-star hotel. It's in a very convenient location for the Tube and next to a beautiful park. Until we know changes have been made we won't be staying at this hotel again and it has unfortunately soured us against other Melia hotels. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Bad Experience in London"
We recently stayed at the Melia White House for a week. I bought an international calling card so I could keep in touch with my family while I was away. Normally in the UK there is a minimal charge per minute for local phone calls. At one point I noticed that the phone had been knocked off the hook while we were out for dinner. Upon checking out I was […] slapped with a $500 dollar phone bill because the hotel charges one pound twenty five pence per minute for local phone calls. At this point I told the front desk clerk that the phone had been knocked off the hook for a period of time and that I was not aware of the charge per minute. (not notified on check in and not in any hotel literature) And he told me to bad, it is not the hotels fault that we knocked to phone off the hook. He also informed me that I was lucky I wasn't calling internationally because the rate is ten pound per minute. VERY POOR customer service and would not stay here again. I would recommend the Holiday Inn just down the road. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Simpatici ma..... ammuffiti !"
Staff dell' hotel: giovane cordiale e disponibile. Genuine Expedia guest review

"Super beliggenhed - elendig service"

(hun kunne like godt ligget i samme seng som oss).
Men ok for drikke i boks.
