Only bad point was hotel breakfast -- vouchers said breakfast was discounted TO 3 gbp per person. However the desk gave a bill of 20 gbp per person (which is very very stiff for breakfast). "Tiny room but efficient; overpriced"
Recently remodeled room is small (maybe 10 ft. x 10ft.) but very new and modern with efficient design to maximize every inch. As a result, the room is quite comfortable for such a small space. The location is within 7 minutes walk to the underground station which can take you to Heathrow in approximately 35 minutes. The neighborhood has a few good restaurants […] but not close to any sightseeing areas. There was some construction going on the lobby but we could not hear it from the 6th floor and therefore not much of a bother; it looks close to completion so likely in a couple of weeks the whent he Olympic starts, it will be done at which point the price of the hotel will likely increase. "The Regency: great location!"
I didn't know what to expect after reading all the minor negative reviews, but I wanted a hotel in a nice area with good restaurant choices.This certainly had that: Brompton Road is restaurant row! We ate at the French place ( prixe- fixe, good value) and the Moroccan place and they were delicious. The hotel is very good: they are going through re-branding […] and upgrading. Our very nice modern room was a decent size, and they added a stylish single convertible sofa-bed in the midst of our stay. The major complaint was the incomprehensible heating and cooling system. We were there during a heat wave and could not figure out how to turn on a fan or any air conditioning the first night. The front desk said the hotel will provide instructions in the future, as everything is in transition. Also the internet charge is 5 pounds/hr. It is archaic to charge for internet use, all of our less posh accommodations in Britian had free wireless. They have reduced the price of the continental buffet to 7.50 pounds pp and it was quite good, with fresh berries, cold meats, breads, etc. It is in a very upscale area, and my husband was in heaven watching the Ferrari Californias, Maseratis, Lamborghinis, TVRs etc drive by. The Lamborghini dealership is across from the tube, and there are a couple small classic car showrooms on a nearby side street that had a restored Shelby Cobra, Jags, etc that were very entertaining to my car- enthusiast husband. This hotel is very convenient to the tube, and on a direct tube line to the airport. "Regency-Great London Hotel Value"
If you are looking for a good value hotel, close to public transportation, The Regency is it! Nice rooms in a good neighborhood. Has one bus that goes right past for anyone not wanting to walk 4 blocks to South Kensington Station. Also has many great area restaurants within a few blocks. Hotel staff was superb and very helpful. Our room was small (by […] American standards) but adequate. Elevators (lifts) worked very well - minimal waiting with 2 lifts to service 6 floors. "Fint hotell i mysigt område"
Vi var jättenöjda med hotellet. Jättefin byggnad och fin entré. Personalen var mycket hjälpsam och vi fick tips på sevärdheter, restauranger, kommunikation, tågresor etc. Det bästa var ändå läget, South Kensington var ett jättemysigt område med village känsla, små butiker och caféer längs vägen och bara 5-6 minuter att gå till t-bana och bussar. Rummen […] kändes moderna och fräscha, enda minus var att det var lite för litet, skulle kunna ha varit något större. Men vi var bara en vuxen och ett barn och då var det helt ok ändå. "Sehr gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis"
Im Hotel hatten wir für 3 Nächte 2 Zimmer für je 2 Personen gebucht. Von der Lage absolut gut gelegen in der Nähe von 2 Supermärkten und vielen Restaurants. Die UBahn war in 5 Minuten zu Fuß zu erreichen, die nächsten Museen (z.B. Natural History) in 10 Minuten. Zu Harrods und der nächst größeren Einkaufsstraße war es zu Fuß vielleicht eine knappe halbe […] Stunde oder mit der UBahn eine Station. Da die UBahnhaltestelle noch in der inneren Nahverkehrszone lag, konnte man auch alles sehr gut mit der UBahn erreichen. Zum Zentrum (Trafalgar Square) vielleicht 10 Minuten Fahrtzeit. Zum Essen im Hotel lässt sich leider nichts sagen, da dieses nicht gebucht wurde. Die Zimmer waren für einen Städtetrip mehr als ausreichend eingerichtet. "Hårda sängar"
Hade bokat ett dubbelrum för mig och min 18-årige son och var inte så nöjd när jag såg att ni hade bokat ett rum med queen size-säng.
