"Surprising"
A great surprise, wasn't expecting too much, very, very nice hotel, excellent restaurant, 1 of the best steaks i've had in the UK. Great breakfast. Very clean and in great condition. We were there out of season, wouldn't like to stay this close to the pleasure beach in season though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Modern, well kept. Great breakfast, wouldn't recommend for dinner. Close to everything.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location for the pleasure beach"
We stayed here with our 2 children with our friends and their 2 children. I asked for interconnecting rooms but we didn't get them. However we were right opposite each other so it was ok. The rooms were lovely and the kids area was great. They were nice and clean. The food in the restaurant in the evening was good. The hotel told us we needed to book […] as it got busy, but we didn't need to as it wasn't. They should have mentioned booking for breakfast though, as this was very busy and we had to wait around 15mins for a table. It was quite chaotic at breakfast but there was a good choice of food and drinks and it was all very tasty. We bought our wristbands for the pleasure beach at reception as they offered the same discount as online but also we were able to enter by a VIP entrance, saving time by queuing at the normal entrance. I would definately stay here again if we were to return to Blackpool for the pleasure beach or the sandcastle. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"If a family hotel required, this is it."
rooms are unusal, 2 kids beds plus large adult bedroom - great if family room is required without kids being in seperate room, but still a bit of privacy for the parents. breakfast wa plentyful and a good choice. drinks at bar a bit expensive. would be interesting to see reviews from people who use this hotel when pleasure beach and rides are on as […] noise could be a major problem. "Very pleasant stay"
Lovely reception area, very nice staff. Room clean and modern. Would have slept better on a firmer mattress as we kept rolling into the middle, was quite soft. Bathroom spotless but had a funny smell. Shame when re-decorated throughout the room at some point the paint is sprayed all over the wood shelving. These details i am fussy about as they cheapen […] a perfectly good room. Lots of tea, coffee and hot chocolate withlovely biccies too. Breakfast was excellent as was the checkout experience. I am extremely fussy but YES i would go back. Throughout our stay all the staff we came across were friendly and attentive. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Too far away out of Season"
Overall the stay was good, but it's a shame they haven't made Blackpool a year round place to visit. There is very little open at the moment and there are no lights to look at, which meant you had to eat in the hotel - and we thought it was expensive for what was on offer. The hotel probably is the best in Blackpool, looking at the other accommodation […] on offer. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Blackpool's most modern hotel?"
A warm welcome on arrival. The ground floor room had a great shower. Enthusiastic waitresses in the dining room. The location was great if you are going to the Pleasure Beach.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel shame about the view"
We really enjoyed the quality if this hotel however we were never told that our window was directly facing 2 roller coasters and a small children's train that ran every ten minutes. Although it finished at 5pm it started again at 10am.if I had been aware of this I would have requested a room facing the front it the hotel-if they do family rooms facing […] the front?? "Couples Retreat"
Me and my partner stayed in the double deluxe room in the middle of the week at the beginning of October. (not advised blackpool becomes a ghost town) Hotel was great, and staff were extremely helpful. One in particular doing as much as she could to make sure we had what we needed when looking at facing town in a heavy down pour! Rooms had most of the […] things you'd need, including DVD player which was helpful on the quiter nights. However, very expensive to dine in. £3.90 for a pint of coke which is atrocious! If your a couple staying hear its far cheaper and has better offers for drinks in town. Also, probably bad timing but ice machine was broken, which was unfortunate as i was looking forward to making the most of it! And also, large bed which is great, however, you could easily feel the large bar running down the centre of the bed which supports the matress which was very uncomfortable. We didnt complain for the sake of 2 days but if you find this on your first day i would advise getting it sorted, its a massive buzz kill! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A good place to stay."
This is a very comfortable hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are spacious, in good condition and are cleaned to a high standard. Bar and restaurant areas are very comfortable and pleasing. Pleasure Beach had no impact at all on our stay - no noise etc. Recommend using public transport (tram/bus) as it's a long walk in to the main areas […] (Tower etc). "Great hotel. Would stay again!!"
Traveled with my disabled father. Requested disabled access bathroom, contacted by the hotel the next day. Advised the disabled access bathrooms had been allocated, asked if we would like to swap dates, as we were unable. Both double rooms were upgraded to family rooms on the ground floor. Rooms were clean and tidy. Despite our rooms facing the pleasure […] beach the rides didn't cause too much noise and the park closed at 5pm. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good clean family hotel"
Nice hotel in a good location near the pleasure beach. In a quieter part of Blackpool but still close to the action. Two little issues, one was a little wait to be seated for breakfast but even though really busy it was only 5 minutes each morning so not too long. The other issue is that the bunk beds are a little short so my 9 year old (height of a […] 12 year old) was at the end of the bed, so just something to think about if you have older children. Other than this lovely hotel and when we go back to Blackpool would book again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Positives were hotel was spotless and quality of food very good. Negatives were king size bed was uncomfortable ,like two beds pushed together with lump in middle. Also breakfast was mental had to queue for ages.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel"
The Big Blue is a very nice hotel and a must for families / couples visiting the pleasure beach. It makes a really nice change to have a choice of a nice hotel in Blackpool other than a tacky B&B. This was a 3rd visit to the Big Blue and all previous stays have been wonderful however upon arriving this time, we were advised they had upgraded us to a […] Deluxe room from a superior. We thought this was great for free however although the room was really nice, the beds are not as big as superior rooms and not so comfortable. I would advise anyone to stick with a superior room and don't get tempted by a deluxe room just because you get a fireplace and glass bottled water, it's just not worth it. Apart from that, great hotel, good food and a nice atmosphere. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A family hotel, in a great location"
A 3 night stay in the Big Blue Hotel was enjoyable and the snakes and ladders on the wall in the family room was an unusual feature. My 6 year old son enjoyed playing this. However, the backing was not very sticky on one of the counters, so kept falling off the playing board which was slightly annoying, but this was a minor fault. We also had to wait […] a few minutes before being seated for breakfast in the morning, as the hotel was very busy. However, this was not really a problem. We would definitely stay here again, despite the fact that I believe it is slightly overpriced. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Quick Blackpool visit"
Had a very good stay, only issue was due to children running up and down corridors. xcellent if going to pleasure beach, ask about passes for entry into park and prices nfor wrist bands.Genuine Expedia guest review
We all had a great time at The Big Blue Hotel. The kids loved their bedroom and we felt like we had a room all to ourselves when the kids where in theirs. Very spacious and would definitely recommend to others.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for Pleasure Beach"
Love the hotel but housekeeping forgot to replenish coffee and biscuits. Also removed shower cap and did not replace. Food very good. Think mushrooms could be included with breakfast at these prices rather than extra. The family rooms are excellent but you do get noise from other rooms.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Over All Pleased ..."
The Hotel was as advertised .. and we were satisfied overall. the disadvantage of the rooms is that they don't have a mini freg which means you are unable to have any cold beverages ( water , juice , milk ) during your stay, most hotels have a mini bar which you can use to have cold drinks or food saved.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Superb!"
Clean, modern, friendly staff, convenient location, free wifi, parking, decent TV with lots of channels. Only negative is the high cost of room service. £5 takes a big chunk out of a company meal budget.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel was as depicted on website so no complaints about the comfort of the room or location. However, we were disappointed not to have a room safe or fridge.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Enjoyable stay"
The hotel is only a couple of minutes walk from Pleasure Beach station and is conveniently located to the fun park. Although a roller coaster is right next to the hotel there was no noise. Restaurant was pleasant. I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Short 1 night break"
Managed to get a decent rate but felt that the late check out option was quite expensive. Staff were great and very helpful. Hotel was very clean and peaceful with a comfortable bed. Room was spacious although I did upgrade to the Deluxe Room. My only gripe, having heard that breakfast was excellent, from one of the locals, was that I found it quite […] dry - I went later on so it seemed that the food had been kept warm for a while. "Beware the roller coaster"
I required one night's stay in the Blackpool area as I am looking at relocating to the Fylde Coast. This hotel was certainly suitable for what I wanted but you need to be fully aware, if planning to stay high season, that the hotel is part of the Pleasure Beach and as such my ground floor bedroom window was less than twenty feet away from the roller […] coaster track. Another small gripe concerns not receiving my early morning alarm call which I had requested the night before but as I was already awake this did not pose a problem. Nonetheless this is why I have only given it a four star rating. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was excellent. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"In among the roller coasters"
Big Blue represents an impressive effort to bring Blackpool into the 21st century. It's a welcome and well presented improvement on the faded majesty of the vast conference hotels further up the coast. The situation is ideal if you're into roller coasters. Our room had big ones running outside the window. Great if you're in town for the Pleasure Beach […] amusement park, not so good if you're planning to sleep in. Unlike its Disney counterparts, Big Blue has saved on the cost of noise proofing. For us, the hotel's star feature was the room which is cleverly arranged for a family group. The kids have their own apace with bunk beds and televisions at both levels. Considerable design skills have gone into producing a room that parents and children can really enjoy. Also full marks to Big Blue for free wi-fi internet and free parking! There's plenty of good stuff to say so the little moans which follow should be seen in perspective. Restaurant service is slow although the food itself compares adequately with mid-market chains while not quite reaching the upmarket levels to which it appears to aspire. I guess you expect the worst from the uniquely British warning notice in the lift which gives fair notice that, if you come in for breakfast after 9am, you can expect to queue. Why? The restaurant is big enough so it's presumably a reluctance to hire enough sufficient staff. We honestly cannot remember waiting in line for a buffet breakfast in any comparable hotel. The lifts are tiny, overcrowded and happily sweep past intermediate floors but the hotel is on four floors only so the exercise was good for us. The front desk, reservations and billing systems all work well and we'll forgive the fact that our occupancy didn't fit in with Housekeeping's room tidying schedule. If this hotel could match its service levels to its interior design, it would move from good to great. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
