The perfume industry in Grasse dates from the 16th century when local tanners used flower fragrances to scent their speciality soft leather gloves. The Musée International de la Parfumerie explains the extraction processes, and all the larger factories provide free tours. Grasse has a fascinating old quarter with several interesting museums. Place du Cours has lovely sea views. Visit in August for the Jasmine Festival.

The room was extremely small, and there was not a place to hold both of our luggage. The AC in the room was not working. A technician came to fix it. After notifying the hotel that the AC was not fixed, we were advised to have it run for few hours in order the cool the room. After few hours, we notified the receptionist that the AC was still not working […] and we had to open the windows because the heat was unbearable at the room. Instead of showing any understanding, she was argumentative, and blamed us that the reason that the AC was not working is because we had the window opened.
