A beguiling mix of art and architecture, the revitalised Beaubourg and Marais districts are home to Paris’ Jewish community and a thriving gay scene. Attractions include the Pompidou Centre, Place des Vosges (Paris’ oldest square), the Picasso museum, Notre-Dame cathedral and bijou Ile-St-Louis. Stalls selling birds, flowers and books line the banks of the Seine. Village St-Paul is good for antique-hunting. The area is best explored on foot.

Waardeloze kamer op de 1 e verdieping met laag plafond. Je denkt steeds te moeten bukken met 1.80 en 1.90 lengte. Dit moet letterlijk in de douche: hier kunnen we niet rechtop staan! Ook de douche spuit alleen recht omhoog. De wastafel is zo klein, dat de föhn die er hangt, als extra service, het gezicht aan de spiegel geheel onttrekt. Heel veel lawaai […] van de straat gedurende de gehele nacht en om 0600 uur van de veegwagens. Waarschijnlijk aan de achterkant, uitkijkend op de binnenplaats rustiger kamers.
