This is an area of transit, with two mainline stations and a dozen Métro links. Gare du Nord is the terminus for Eurostar and trains to Charles de Gaulle Airport. The main sights are glass and fan museums and the 17th-century archways of St-Denis and St-Martin. Ethnic shops, markets and restaurants on Boulevard du Strasbourg and Passage Brady ('Little India') and lively cafés along Canal St-Martin make atmospheric diversions.

"Hotel Nord de Gard"
EXCELLENT location for railway stations, but the neighbor hood is a little rough. Room had peeling paint, and I left my socks on, but it was overall clean and quiet. An excellent 5 star resturant is around the corner for a pricey but outstanding dinner.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

This was one of the smallest rooms I have ever had and to top it off the room is connected to the elevator. So every time the elevator the room shook, I trying talking to the hotel, but they were booked and they told me that ALL single rooms are on the elevator. Clean Room. Bathroom is spotless. 2 minutes walk to Gare du Nord train station. However, lots of homeless people around the station and the street smell of urine at night. The price ain't exactly cheap for a 3 stars hotel. For the same price, one can find another hotel of the same class in a more central and better neighborhood. "Reasonably priced and friendly hotel, lovely if you're slim enough."
The management has taken great care to make the inside of the hotel look special and unusual.
