Set in Madrid's old literary quarter, Hotel De Las Letras is in a renovated heritage building combining period features with sleek, modern design. It is set on a corner of one of the city's main thoroughfares, Gran Via, and is 500 metres from Plaza del Sol.
Hotel Features.
Hotel De Las Letras offers a library with paneled walls, parquet floors, and oversized armchairs. Complimentary newspapers are available in the lobby. De las Letras Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and features book displays. A rooftop bar on the seventh floor offers views of the city and live music in the evenings. Two computer terminals offer high-speed Internet access. Wired and wireless Internet access are available in public areas (complimentary). A function room on the first floor includes a wrought-iron staircase and floor-to-ceiling windows; the room can be divided into two smaller ones. For a surcharge, the property offers a roundtrip airport shuttle (available on request).

Guestrooms feature parquet floors, bright rugs, and walls inscribed with literary quotes. Amenities include in-room safes and minibars. Ensuite mosaic-tile bathrooms provide shower/tub combinations. All rooms include complimentary wireless Internet access.

The hotel was within walking distance to all sights and shopping - making it very convenient for touring Madrid. No difficulty with water temperature or water pressure. Really great hotel in a central location, on a main shopping street (Gran Via) and across from the Chueca area of the city. Rooms were compact, but with high ceilings and spacious bathrooms. We stayed at this hotel five years ago and decided to return because of the location and the very friendly staff. We were not disappointed. I loved staying at Las Letras on the Gran Via in Madrid. The location is good and for the price, the quality of the room cannot be beat. The hotel is undergoing renovations to the exterior and was very hard to find despite being in such a central location - it was partly covered in scaffolding and bore no resemblance to the picture shown on the internet. We were looking for it with a native 'madrilena' friend and ended up abandoning the car and searching on foot - very frustrating! The […] location (once we eventually found it!!) was very central for walking to all the main tourist sights. The room was ok - not over large but adequate for a couple of nights. A minor annoyance - the lack of decent central lighting meant that you had to have the bathroom door open to use the light from there if you wished to do anything other than read in bed.
