"Hotel Los Condes"
We stayed at the Hotel Los Condes for 5 nights in order to see Madrid and attend the Madrid Masters tennis. The hotel is extremely well situated for both tourism and transport to La Caja Magica (where the tennis is held), being very close to several well-connected stations on Madrid's efficient Metro system. It's set back from the traffic noise of Gran […] Via, so noise wasn't too much of an issue at night, other than the odd loud clunk, which I presume was from people on the fire escape. The rooms are small (don't stay here if you expect a vast and glamorous room) and quite 70s looking but are spotlessly clean and well-maintained. They don't have the advertised tea and coffee makers in the rooms, but will bring you tea and coffee 24hrs a day for free if you call reception, and the service is incredibly quick. Everything else in the room worked fine, though you have to remind them to switch the air-con on if it's under 30 degrees outside (the Spanish are used to the heat!!). The reception staff were incredibly polite, very helpful and spoke good English. The breakfast was pleasant and plentiful. A very good hotel in a very good location. Just off of Gran Via, it is one road away from Sol and didn't experience any trouble in the surrounding area. Had good nights sleep because it was on a side road. Was a little dissapointed with the breakfast because it cost more than you could get elsewhere. Dette er virkelig det dårligste hotellet jeg har bodd på og fortjener ingen av de stjernene eller positive anmeldelsene hotellet har fått. Rommene var ukoselige og mørke. Hotellet hadde vært bedre uten de ansatte som både var ufine og uhyggelige. Jeg skrev også en henvendelse til hotellet før jeg dro fordi jeg lurte på om jeg kunne få rette på hotellreservasjonen. […] Denne fikk jeg aldri svar på. Det viser også hvor useriøse de er. Jeg endte opp med å bo på verdens hyggeligste hostel som faktisk hadde bedre service og rom. Min anbefaling er hold dere unna!
