Musicals, hotels, shops and restaurants make the Gran Via a rich vein of entertainment, finishing in the east with the black dome of the Metropolis building. The heart of Madrid, the Puerta del Sol contains the statue of the symbolic bear of Madrid and Tio Pepe sherry sign. Westwards, the grand Plaza Mayor was once the site of inquisitions and executions, but is now mostly visited for its terrace cafes.
see all hotels in MadridHotel is right off Gran Via but the street the hotel is on looks a little rough. Bed was comfortable and TV was HD. The breakfast was quite sad.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Stay"
Nice hotel down an alleyway from the Avenida de Liberdade. Wonderful staff. Did not try the breakfast buffet. Walked to the Prado and many other places of interest. Would love to be back at this hotel now as Madrid is great!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Clean, relatively well located and super nice staff! The only thing I didn't like was the street fights at 2 in the morning lol it definetly get a bit too crazy at night specially if your coming to the hotel late. Other than that good, nice hotel that is affordable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent value for the money"
Location was excellent. Front desk personnel was excellent, very helpful and professional. The cons were: problems with the wi-fi (very weak signal) and decoration looks a little outdated. But on balance we were highly satisfied.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Near Puerta del Sol"
Pretty good hotel near the sites in Madrid and close to public transportation. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable. Very satisfied with the hotel for the price we paid.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great trip"
I read alot of mixed reviews on this hotel. The hotel was clean, big enough and the staff was friendly. Didn't eat at the restaurant. The hotel is hard to locate, loud and probably not in the cleanest part of town. Price and easy access to all was the factor in choosing it. Due to our arrival and departure times it was a bit tricky to get here. Off […] Gran Via coming up from Ciebles plaza It's right around the corner from KFC and McDonald's. You can take the "Yellow Express" bus from airport for 2 euro to get here. About a 20 min. walk from drop off. The metro closes down at 1am and starts back up at 6am. The local buses stop running too.Best metro stop for hotel is Santo Domingo right across the street. Remember hotel can't be seen off Gran Via. Calle De Silva is the street right before it that is easly visible since the street signs are on the side of the buildings. Light sleepers should not stay here! There is also lots of theaters in the area and restaurants. Taxi from the hotel to airport cost 32 euro for three with one suitecase each(small) Yes,I would stay here again. Even if you choose to stay somewhere else this part of town is a good location. Front desk will make copy of your passport and you drop key off everytime you leave. Went the third week in Oct. which didn't require any special controlled room temp. so not sure if A/C or heater works. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great location and very courteous service"
The hotel staff was very courteous and helpful, specially the cafeteria server. The hotel itself could use some updates specially the bathrooms and common areas, other than that the location is fantastic with every major tourist point of interest minutes away walking and for longer distances you have a metro station a block away from the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Perfect Bang for your buck"
Was on a budget for Spain. A great location to everything! Centralized location of the theater district, only 5 min walk to the palace and plaza mayor. Highly recommend this hotel. Little language barrier, with concierge but they were extremely helpful!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Best Western Condes - Great location"
The room was a little smaller than I"m used to, but since I booked a single room, and it was cheap I was satisfied. It was clean, had good wireless internet, and was very centrally located. I would stay here again if it was this economical the next time I come.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Centrally located hotel for those on a budget"
Great hotel, very centrally located. The desk staff was also quite friendly and spoke fluent English. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a budget option in Madrid. Only negatives were that the beds were too hard and maybe not the best quality and the tub in the bathroom was not very good since water would spray all over the […] bathroom once you turned on the shower. But these were all minor inconveniences compared to the location, price and staff service. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Centrally located but in an alley"
At the time I stayed, the pedestrian walkway was being repaved, but this was a small distraction. The off street location probably made it less noisy but impossible to find unless you were taking a taxi or airport shuttle. In any case, it was good value for money. Room space was tight, but it had all the basic amenities. The hotel description notes […] airport shuttle service, but there was no information about it available at the airport, thus I assume that advance arrangements must be made. On the return, the hotel displayed the shuttle schedule. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Sightseeing visit to Madrid."
Location excellent, close to 2 metro stations. Breakfast OK, not fantastic but adequate. Room was comfortable and cleaned every day. Staff helped with wi-fi connection issues. "Buona localizazione, prezzo raggionevole"
The bad point was definetely the size of the room. It was in fact very small. And there is also only one elevator, which can cause you to wait a little sometimes (it is in good conditions, though). But there are lots of good aspects: the localization, very near subway stations, the Puerta del Sol and the Gran Vìa, for example. It is very easy to reach […] the major tourist attractions from there, such as the Museo del Prado and the Reina Sofia, and the Atocha train station. And you can easily walk to the Plaza Mayor too. It is also easy to find food and restaurants all around, and you can also find the major stores if you want to go shopping. The street is very convenient, silent and calm. We did not have problem with noise, except for Saturday night, when there was a little bit of shouting due to a party nearby. Also there is a grocery store for water, snacks etc two blocks from the hotel. Breakfast was quite good and the waiter is really so friendly. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Close to Callao Metro"
It fulfilled a need. The room was very small, I think the term you prefer in your marketing literature would be "compact" There was everything I needed to be fair, but I could reach it all too easily without much room to spare. If I were to return I should not want to be put into this room (512) For that reason I would not prioritise to stay at this […] hotel again. One enormous plus however, was that the staff were exceptionally helpful, friendly and professional and gave me a warm welcome. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"based in city centre"
The hotel was situated very centrally and was close to the metro. It was clean and tidy and the breakfast was ample, small room but a good choice and a friendly waiter. The hotel didn't cater very much for english people and only had 1 channel on the tv which was BBC World News. The hotel itself was fine however it was really noisy on a night outside […] and there was lots of banging doors internally. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hotel Los Condes"
We stayed at the Hotel Los Condes for 5 nights in order to see Madrid and attend the Madrid Masters tennis. The hotel is extremely well situated for both tourism and transport to La Caja Magica (where the tennis is held), being very close to several well-connected stations on Madrid's efficient Metro system. It's set back from the traffic noise of Gran […] Via, so noise wasn't too much of an issue at night, other than the odd loud clunk, which I presume was from people on the fire escape. The rooms are small (don't stay here if you expect a vast and glamorous room) and quite 70s looking but are spotlessly clean and well-maintained. They don't have the advertised tea and coffee makers in the rooms, but will bring you tea and coffee 24hrs a day for free if you call reception, and the service is incredibly quick. Everything else in the room worked fine, though you have to remind them to switch the air-con on if it's under 30 degrees outside (the Spanish are used to the heat!!). The reception staff were incredibly polite, very helpful and spoke good English. The breakfast was pleasant and plentiful. All in all, a good budget hotel in a very convenient location in the centre of Madrid. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"convenient"
Fine for our purpose of visiting Madrid for few days. Close to the metro, many restaurants within 10 minute walk. Heart of theatre land. Actual location of the hotel a little of putting at first but no bother. As avid walkers we went most of the sites on foot quite easily.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Madrid"
The Hotel it's self was very comfy, the room was very big and bathroom was also a good size. However it's not sound proof. Luckily we stayed during a quiet time, so the noise wasn't too bad, but you can hear people walking around above you and slamming doors. Good closet space, bed comfy and free wifi available. No tea, coffee facilities in the room […] which was a little dissapointing. Staff very good, happy to give loacl advise and spoke excellent English! Location of hotel is excellent for tourists, just off the grand via up a little street which reduces street noise, but the street is dark and daunting on first visit, but thereafter you learn to avoid the small groups hanging around as they seem to be harmless. The room was small, but not too much. It was very basic, but comfortable. Usage of the safe costs a euro per use. The bathroom was clean and had a bidet. The hotel staff were friendly. "Basic but a brilliant location!"
Stayed as a couple in this hotel in the very heart of Madrid, close to Tour bus stop, bus stops and Metro. Most of the main "must -do" sights are within walking distance and therefore it is a good location if one wishes to visit Madrid on a bit of a budget! It is also near good restaurants and cafes. "Great location for access to almost everything"
Hotel is about 1 hour from the airport via underground and costs 5 euros a couple. There is 1 change but overall it is a dawdle and the walk to the hotel is not far. Room was small and basic and the toilet was very compact. I found the beds very hard and the pillow to thin and too soft. The TV had only 1 English channel - BBC World. HOWEVER, its location […] just off the Gran Via was just about as good as it gets and way overshadows my niggly complaints. Also the continental breakfasts were very good. "Best Western Los Condes, Madrid"
Well situated, easy access for the open top bus (stage 8 on historic route), two metro lines. "Best Western Hotel Los Condes - just off Gran Via"
A very good hotel in a very good location. Just off of Gran Via, it is one road away from Sol and didn't experience any trouble in the surrounding area. ""Christmas Shopping Treat""
Christmas in Madrid, especially with 2 bank holidays is a thriving, wonderful experience, we would rate Madrid as the best capital in Europe. The decorations and markets were wonderful, and even the large department store had a winter wonderland show on the side of the building, fully animated at designated times, it was packed. Food is reasonably priced, […] and Menu Del Dia's at lunchtime are excellent value, negative point on meals is the price of "Beer" very expensive, wine is reasonable though. Hotel we stayed in was at times noisy outside, could be a problem in summer, if the windows are open, take ear plugs, because the Hotel is a good price and is in the city centre. Overall Madrid is a great place to explore, there is everything there, shopping, museums, football grounds, and miles of walking, and sightseeing. We will go back in summer, very happy with our 4 days city break. A plus point was we saw Christine Aguilera and Cher on there Film premiere "Burlesque" Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
