My wife and I recently celebrated our 20th anniversary in Barcelona at we stayed at the Ohla Hotel, which was absolutely beautiful. The hotel offers "wonderful" accommodations with a spectacular view of the city, and is centrally located in the heart of everything. We were a short walk from countless restaurants, site seeing, historical sites, the beach […] and even the train system (should you wish to venture outside the central down town area). The staff was very attentive and extremely accommodating at all levels. Included with our stay was a beautiful buffet breakfast assortment, along with specialty dishes made to order. The open-air roof-top bar was equally as inviting in the evening, after a long day of experiencing the many treasure throughout the city. A great way to relax before enjoying a spectacular dinner in the hotel, or venturing out to the countless other restaurants within walking distance. All in all...we gave it 5 stars. J&T Read more

This hotel could be classed as Nouveau. Very modern, very art deco-ish. The location is in the heart of the gothic area. Easy walking distance to Las Ramblas and the Cathedral. First timer in Barcelona. We arrived at Barcelona really early so our room was not ready but they allowed us to pre-check in our bags allowing us to go discover Barcelona. To top that they even upgraded our room for free since we were only staying there for one day. The complimentary breakfast was also amazing not like a cheap HoJo complimentary breakfast. […] The staff really goes out of their way to meet your needs. The hotel is well situated in old Barcelona. The taxi fare from the airport was around 38 euros for 2 people and luggage. It is a fairly new hotel and the condition of the room was top notch. We stayed in a junior suite which was quite roomy by European standards and had a separate tub and shower. After a long day of sightseeing, the room was a comfortable […] place to unwind and get ready for the next day. One thing that is worth noting is that the HVAC/climate control was very quiet and comfortable. It was never too cold or too warm in the room. The bed was comfortable and the towels were fluffy and soft. The breakfast that was included with the room was filling. You get a choice of 1 hot dish (eggs with bacon, pancakes, or hamburger) with unlimited croissants, breads, cheeses, sliced coldcuts, fruit, juice and coffee. The staff was very helpful. Albert ,the concierge, arranged reservations at a few restaurants for us. We chose to dine at Sauc, the hotel's restaurant with 1 Michelin star. It's a cozy place that only has about 10 tables. We ordered from the "tasting menu" and were expecting to be hungry at the end, but the portions for the main course were generous and we were not able to finish every single morsel of that delicious dinner. Another concierge showed how to get a taxi quickly. On our departure, they arranged a taxi for us to the airport and the fee was approximately the same as the arrival. I only had 48 hours to spend in Barcelona. The Ohla Hotel made it possible to enjoy every minute. Well situated in old Barcelona, it was quick walk to La Rambla and all the sights in between. We arrived early and just expected to drop off our luggage and check in later, but they gave upgraded us from a design room to a junior suite. The concierge service […] was personalized. Albert, the head concierge made dining reservations for us at Can Majo, Sauc and El Nou Ramonet as well as summon a cab for us when we left. Our junior suite was spacious by european standards. The wifi worked well. The ipod dock meant that i could keep my charger cables packed away. As mentioned before, there aren't any doors to the bathroom area except for the toilet. The room has some neat design inspirations and lighting. The climate control system works well. The room was never too hot or too cold. The bed was firm and comfortable for us. Although it rained on our last evening, the pool area and lounge on the 8th floor was a nice place to hang out. There is a phone that can be used to call for drinks from the bar. An attendant came up within a few minutes while we were up there to check on us and to let us know how things worked. Dining at Sauc was an experience. They modified the tasting menu for us. The portions for the tasting menu were generous. I actually got full by the main course entrees. Service was a little slow towards the end. The breakfast buffet is a treat from all the croissants, cheeses, fruits, cold cuts. They give you one hot dish per person, which was a choice between eggs and bacon, pancakes/waffles or a hamburger with cheese and bacon, which was very good :) It was almost 40 euros to take a cab from the airport to this hotel. About 9 euros to take a cab to Can Majon from this hotel. Read more

As an Expedia VIP member we did not receive any benefits which was disappointing. Otherwise the location of the hotel was great as was the breakfast they served each morning. Loved the outside of the building with eyeballs all over the backside and the pool roof top had a spectacular view with a glass pool.

This is certainly not a 5-star hotel. The lobby is tiny and the reservation desk is in a miniscule alcove on the mezzanine floor. The room we had was real small with a non-existent view. We basically looked over the rooftops of surrounding buildings. A view room was available but they wanted to charge us 90 Euros a day more. Breakfast was OK - nothing […] to write home about. We had just come from a stay at the W which offered a terrific breakfast in comparison. The location is excellent. It is very close to the Barcelona Cathedral and abuts the Gothic district. It is an easy walk to many major sights, including the Spanish Arc de Triomphe. The finest bakery in Barcelona, Hoffmans, in the Born Plaza has croissants to die for and is a 7 minute walk from the hotel. The subway is across the front door and the main Gaudi house is 10-15 minutes walking distance. Unbeatable location. If you intend to spend any time in the hotel to relax, it is just too tiny for that. When we left, the hotel either made an error or tried to gyp us by charging us for an upgraded room that we never took. Seems like they were presenting us with someone else's bill. My husband and I spent one week at the Ohla Hotel in Barcelona. We were very impressed with the location and cleanliness of the hotel, but disappointed to find out there was no complimentary breakfast- this was not clearly stated by Expedia so we were very surprised. Great hotel and fantastic location. Very modern and new. Fitness room was small, but appropriate for vacation workouts. The rooms are better suited for couples, and are not particularly family friendly, as the shower is basically a windowed showcase in the middle of the room. The hotel is located in a perfect spot in the Gothic quarter of Barcelona, surrounded by incredible ancient architecture. The hotel just opened in February of this year and has some interesting "modern" decorations stuck into a classic old museum exterior. The accomodations are very modern and comfortable if a little strange with several all black interiors. […] Less than 5 min walk to Las Ramblas, the Cathedral, Placa Catalunya and as many tapas and sangria places as you can handle. The weather stayed in the high 70's and low 80's until the sun went down at 930. We took the "tourist bus" to get an idea of the city and highly recommend it if you haven't been to the city before. Do not miss the Picasso museum (mostly early works) nor either of the Gaudi masterpieces (Casa Batllo or Casa Sagrada). Casa Sagrada is a ways away from the hotel, but on the toursit bus, you can get off and reboard anytime you want. Read more

Odd feel and smell. They tried to take an old building and make it modern and new..black on white motif throughout. Lots of dark which instead of elegant, I thought was just there. The pool on top of the building was refreshing.... a aquarium for people.

We were on a cruise ship prior to coming to this hotel, the hotel held our luggage for us until our room was ready, they were very accommodating to us. We booked this hotel because it was new, loved the contemporary decor. The shower is in the middle of the bath and is 3 clear glass walls so if you don't like showering in front of your travel companions […] then this hotel is not for you! The beds were extremely comfortable. We didn't use the fitness room so can't rate that, we looked at the pool terrace, if we had time it would have been nice to use it. Pool was small, for swimming laps only, since it was on the roof there were limited lounge chairs so you would have to stake out a chair early in the day. The concierge were all nice and friendly except for the older gentleman who didn't really understand English very well. I think they were all from France. The lights required a key card at the door, a bit confusing but my daughter figured it out and was able to turn lights on when needed. We were provided with a complimentary bottle of water at check in in our room and free WiFi during our whole stay as a plus. We ate dinner at the restaurant in the hotel, it's pricey but excellent quality, portions were small. The bar is phenomenal, just as mentioned in an earlier review that we read, the bar tender puts on a show when making the drinks, drinks are very exotic and strong too, not watered down. We would definitely return to this hotel if we travel to Barcelona again. Loved it! Read more

The hotel is very central to where buses drop off from airport. Metro is also nearby. On arrival, check in was fast and efficient. Concierge attended to bags and once checked in, we were brought to our room and shown all the facilities. This is important as toilet is hidden behind a secret door. The hotel has a fine bistro and a michelin star restaurant. […] We used neither as we were travelling about all day and tended to eat in restaurants close to where we ended up hungry! There is also a rooftop chill out pool and sun terrace, with fantastic views of the city. The only down side was that there was no kettle in the room to make a cup of coffee. A modern boutique style hotel with a lot of themed black, which can be a little oppressive. The room was well designed with a feature of an open plan bathroom and bedroom with the shower isolated in the middle. Unfortunately the bed was very hard and the window wouldn't open, which made it a little stuffy.
