The Best Western Hotel Alfa Aeropuerto is located in Barcelona, Spain, two kilometers from Barcelona International Airport. Montjuic, the National Museum of Catalonia and Plaza d'Espanya are within five kilometers of the hotel. Las Ramblas and the Gothic Quarter are six kilometers away. Complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport is available from 5 AM to 11:30 PM (subject to change).

Located 15 kilometres south-west of the city centre, Barcelona Airport is a modern international gateway, boasting good shops and places to eat and drink. A good place to crash if you only to stay for a night before flying out. Not recommended for Barcelona visitors because it will cost you about 70 euros to get back and forth to the city center. "Nice but Noisy"
The hotel is quite nice and the staff is friendly and helpful. However, it is located next to a 24/7 working port and I heard noises all night long. I do not have a problem going and staying asleep. On the plus side it's easy to get to and from the airport. It's close and they have a free shuttle. The shuttle service from the airport to hotel was very slow. About 1 hour from our arrival at pick up spot to hotel. The check in was quick and efficient as was room service. "Your room will be your safe haven from the hotel"
The room was great. Cozy bed, blackout curtains, modern bathroom, spacious. The location: close to the airport. So close taxi drivers will not take you there so, if you land at the airport, you will have to use their shuttle. This is where our stay became problematic. One, the shuttle stop is not marked so you have to wait in line at the info booth […] to figure out where to go. Two, to be picked up you have to call the hotel from your own phone (not like in the US where there is a dedicated line for the shuttle) This is when you are told that the shuttle only comes every 45 minutes. If you don t call it will never show. Three, upon arrival at the hotel, you discover that the surly voice that told you about the shuttle, is just as disagreeable in person. Four, that the hotel is holding you to ransom: you have to lay down 10 euros for a safe key. 3 euros for a bathing cap (you do not want to go swimming anyway...) and 5 euros for a coffee and croissant, something that will cost you 2 euros max in Barcelona. Finally a taxi into Barcelona will cost you 40 euros return. Moral - stay in Barcelona proper: you will be able to stroll around a beautiful city, find a cute cheap restaurant, or expensive one, and then spend 20 euros on a cab to take you to the airport. "Few options to stay over night between flights"
Decent "airport" hotel in an industrial park surprisingly distant from the airport. We needed an overnight stay between two flights, both from El Prat T2. Not knowing spanish or catalan, it was hard to find the hotel shuttle pickup area. Calling the hotel didn't help either. Person handling the phone barely speaks/understands english. We waited 45 minutes […] for the shuttle bus. It's another 15 minutes to get to the hotel, which is surprisingly far. Driver didn't speak english either. If public transit ran late at night, it would be just as easy to stay "in the city". Trip TO the airport is long too. This hotel is surrounded by an industrial park of warehouses and loading docks. The roads and hotel were quiet at night and truck traffic started up early morning. . This hotel got big rooms and clean too. However, it is located in an industrial area which made it not very convenient to go to downtown. Plus if you have to go out to get a bite to eat or to shop, you have to walk out a bit to the closest neighborhood. I was a bit disappointed--I chose this hotel specifically because it was near the airport and had a free shuttle. However, when I arrived the shuttle was no longer running, and it cost me over €20 for a taxi ride, passing many closer hotels on the way! "Ok, nothing special"
We booked this hotel because we were staying one night in barcelona and wanted something close to the airport. It is about a 10 minute drive to the airport. We booked 2 rooms. Decor is very modern. Our air conditioner worked great, but our kids room did not work. The walls are very thin, you will hear everything. There is a place to eat in the hotel […] but the prices are really high. We decided to order room service because we were only wanting a sandwich instead of a dinner. We ordered one ham and cheese sandwich and one turkey sandwich. We laughed really hard when it came! No kidding, there was only one paper thin piece of turkey and ham on a peice of white bread. They cost us 7 euros a piece. You are kind of at their mercy because there are no places in the area to eat. The hotel is in the middle of an industrial park. They do offer a free shuttle service to the airport but be aware it's first trip out is 5 am. We had a early flight out so we hired a taxi to pick us up, since we wanted to leave at 4:15am. The shuttle to this hotel leaves on time every 30 mins. This is great if you MUST be near the airport, however with the Aeroport Bus which takes you quickly into the city for only 5.30 euro's I would recommend staying in Barcelona itself. "Good for what it is"
If you're only interested in being close to the airport like on your last night in town, then this is your place. The bar is good and the restaurant is excellent. It is not close to any tourist sights, although it is possible to take a bus into Barcelona. This hotel is on the edge of the warehouse/packing district. Traffic is very noisy and starts early […] in the morning. There are no stores or restaurants nearby. Make sure you have everything you need before you get there. However, like I said the restaurant has very good high-end food. We ate there both nights we stayed. One problem we had with the staff. We booked this hotel for one night on Hotels.com and received a decent rate. When we arrived at the hotel we informed the staff that we wished to stay an extra night. They said we had to check back with them the following day at 10am to see if a room was available. When we checked in the next day, they offered us a room at a higher rate, claiming that we couldn't get the same rate we had the night before because we hadn't booked in advance. "Hotel is much older than it looks in the photos"
The pictures of the hotel must be from when it was built. It is much older looking than in the photos. That said, the bathrooms are seem much newer than everything else are are very nice. It was only one night so we weren't going to expect too much. The hallways smelled bad and the room was rather tired looking. The lobby was fine as was the restaurant. Free wi-fi was only available in common areas. They have a scale to measure the weight of your luggage but they charge 1 euro to use it. No ice bucket in room and ice was available in […] cups for a charge - at least that's what the front desk told us. They have a convenient snack bar to purchase from located in the lobby. I wish I had known there was a free shuttle to and from the airport. We arrived in Barcelona and I booked a hotel close to the airport intentionally because we had been travelling for 18 hours and I knew we'd be tired ... The bus ride to the city centre took 40 minutes, and there is nothing else but industrial buildings in between so God help you if you get off at the wrong stop.
