"Eurostar was probably a 5 star a long, long time ago"
Ok I never like to say bad thing. I really always look for the good. I will start there. The location of the hotel is perfect! Truly excellent to get to everything Barcelona has to offer. Now the bad. The hotel is so run down. The carpets in the hallways were stained and dirty. The check in area was so plain and simple. The rooms were awful. The door […] wouldn't fully close unless slammed really hard. The shower had half a wall and water ran outside of the shower onto the floor. There was no way to stop the water from leaking out onto the floor. Really odd. The bed was uncomfortable and the linens were old and warn out. The food in the breakfast buffet was not worth the very expensive price. The dinner was simple terrible. The outside pool was nice because it had a great view but it was tiny with very few lounge chairs around. Actually not really a pool more like a large hot tub. "EuroStars MArina - Barcelona"
The hotel desk clerk was extremely rude. We had purchased a room from Expedia and sent an email to Eurostars letting them know we needed a rollout bed for my daughter. They told us it would be an additional 50 euros which was no problem. When we get there the clerk says we have to upgrade the room to get the bed in which cost an additional 125 euros. […] My sister booked the same room that we did originally. We went to both rooms and they were the same size except ours had a fridge in it. We definitely received nothing for our 175 euro upgrade. "Not impressed"
My wife and I travel quite frequently and have found this 5 star hotel the lowest we have encountered in the service section. The friendliness of the staff was poor. I couldn't understand why there were no coffe facilities in the room, and to make it worse we had to pay 14 euro to have it brought to us. positiv: neues hotel, dementsprechender Zustand. Positiv eventuell noch die lage, wobei doch etwas abseits. leider überwogen die NEGATIVEN punkte:der pool hat die grösse eines pools im garten zuhause. KEINE sonnenschirme. KEINE poolbar/keine musik. Man darf auch keine Getränke von der bar zum pool mitnehmen. Getränkepreise im übrigen EXTREM teuer! Service: […] trotz dem, dass sehr viele Mitarbeiter rumlaufen, dauert alles sehr sehr lange. wartezeiten von 10 - 15 minuten für ein glas wein die Norm! (bei 5 anderen gästen...). Sehr nüchterner Empfang bei der Anreise, sehr nüchterne Verabschiedung - man kommt sich nicht als GAST vor, sondern als zahlende Nummer. Zimmerreinigung bis 15h nicht erfolgt...Zimmer neuwertig, Bad gut, insgesamt aber ok, aber eher klein. WI-FI unbrauchbar - bei dieser Geschwindigkeit kann man nicht vernünftig arbeiten. Het maakt geen verschil of je buiten of binnen bent op de kamer i.v.m. het geluid dat de veerboten produceren. Het is een enorm belastend geluid tot laat in de nacht. In de morgen wordt je wakker van het geschreeuw van de meeuwen en het praten van de mensen, we zaten op 4 hoog uitkijkend op Barcelona. Die Anbindung an Ramblas, Barrio Gotico etc ist nicht so gut, es gibt keinen Bus oder ähnliches. Wir haben öfters ein Taxi genommen und schließlich ein Rad gemietet.
