"Good overall family hotel"
Good overall stay. Low season, not enough personnel present. We had 2 communicating rooms, and had to wait half a day for them to open the door... "Great on a budget"
I stayed here for one night in July 2011 with my fiancee. The staff was welcoming. My room was nice and simple. The bed was comfortable. The balcony was nice to relax on. The only problem I had was the floor getting wet due to the humidity. The air conditioning and in-room fan was efficient for the hot and humid weather. The sushi with sweet plantains were the best, in my opinion. I didn't get to go into the pool but I visited it at night and it was amazing. The view of the palm trees in the background was beautiful. It was right on the beach. I would recommend to people on a budget. I went to DR for friend's wedding at the resort next door, which I stayed in for the remainder of the trip (it was triple the price..but I was main of honor and was there for the bride). The check in was great, no problems, fast, efficient and very friendly. Food was good plentifull and very varied, if you are into drinking and eating, them this is the place to be. A lot of European specially French tourist in this hotel. Pools are great, clean huge and just beautifull. Beaches are clean and very safe even at night they have private security. Downtown is very safe during the day, they have turist police, just beware of sales people, they will try to get as much money as they can from you, wathever price they say, you offer less than half and start from there.. I almost forgot watch out for the "artisan fleamarket that comes to the hotel once a week, their prices are four or five times more thant downtown and that is before you even knock the price down, downtown things will cost you eigh to ten times cheaper. Take a taxi from the hotel to the airport, just do not let them scam you, prices are posted right at the outside of the airport. Do not buy any coconut or palm products, they will through them away even before you get to check in, that is US customs in DR. If you are carefull and go to have a good time, you will be able to enjoy your stay and make it memorable,we went with our 3 kids and we all had a blast, in fact, we are going back in 2012. "Tropical Princess was a wonderful stay"
This was our first family caribbean trip - family of 6. Overall we found the hotel to be pleasant and the staff to be very friendly. We were able to get one suite with two rooms which allowed 6 of us to stay in one suite - alot of other hotels we needed to get two suits which was adding up to a significant amount. We had view of the beach which was […] perfect and did not expect to get such a beautiful view. The beach was awesome. We did not have to fight for space or chairs on the beach. Whenever we went, we were able to get chairs (our trip was in Feb). The food was awesome. We did not use a-la-cart as the buffet was simply wonderful and the kids were always able to find something they loved. The entertainment was very good - kids enjoyed the show at end of the night - something they looked forward to. The teen club was nice with the game room (pool table, fooseball, etc). On the negative side, issues included was one of the bathrooms had water leaking from the room above one day (they addressed it right away) and on another day, the room did not have any water for several hours (we later found out the whole resort had this issue). Some days we did not have hot water but being in a hot country, not a big issue. Overall, the stay was fantastic and definetly would go back again. BTW - we booked the taxi with Expedia at time of booking and it worked out great. Con respecto a las instalaciones, tiene 3 piletas y puedes elegir segun tu gusto, desde aquella q tiene musica, mucha gente, barra hasta aquella que si bien tiene barra es mucho mas tranquila. Diria que en esto es muy bueno. Tiene para elegir y no aburrirse nunca lo siguiente, ping pong, arco y flecha, cancha de tennis, de futbol (aunque, nunca se armo partido), bochas y hasta veleros en la playa, diria que excelente. Para seguir diviertiendose podes optar por cenar (comida, capitulo aparte) y luego ir a ver una "obra", la cual deja mucho que desear no por los chicos que le ponen mucho animo y ganas sino por la falta obvia de presupuesto. Me hubiese gustado mucho ver algunos bailarines de merengue o bachata bien bailado.... Con respecto a la comida, en ningun momento falto nada, diria que es el punto mas fuerte que tiene el hotel, claro esta que uno sabe que va a un todo incluido y no aspira a tener gran calidad.
