Barcelo Bavaro Beach Adults Only - All Inclusive

Adults only is always the way to go when on vacation. nice beach front, good grounds. you also have access to Barcelo Palace. Rooms are a bit on the down side but not too bad. This is the best option because it is half the price of other resorts around it and just as good. I have been to 6 other resorts and this is the best.

My wife and I had a fantastic vacation at this resort for our 25th anniversary. The place is HUGE, which was perfect for us, because we like to walk and stay active. We booked the stay with an upgrade to Club Premium, and found the upgrade to be well worth it for the associated room, the free room service, the accessibility to restaurants, etc. Overall, […] staying here was a wonderful experience. The Beach: The beach area is beautiful, with fine white sand and sufficient palm trees for shade. Plenty of lounge chairs were available - never felt the need to 'claim' any early. The water was great for swimming - clear, blue, just what you'd expect. Some areas with weeds, but no big deal. The only negative we found was that the roped off swim area was too small, with noisy power and party boats going past just outside the boundary. The Food: The buffets were mediocre, with the buffet in the adult section actually being the worst. You could usually find decent food, but nothing to get excited about. Most of the restaurants were fantastic. We had dinner at a restaurant each night - I forget the names, but the steak house was ok, the seafood pretty good, and then the japanese, mexican, and international were exceptional. The Staff: Most didn't speak english, but that was MY problem, not theirs. It's their country. Everyone was happy, polite, and tried to be helpful. You're mostly on your own and have to figure things out for yourself - sometimes frustrating, sometimes fun. Read more

Just returned from a superb experience and celebrated wedding anniversaries with friends. Received a free upgrade to junior suites in Barcelo Palace from booking in Adults Only on our arrival. Hotel grounds and beach were beautiful, the staff was friendly, helpful and surprisingly many spoke a fair amount of English. The maid service typically spoke […] no English and helpful if you can write or request your needs in Spanish. Recommend making your dinner reservations as soon as you arrive. We easily secured reservations between 6:30-7:30 and truly enjoyed the Italian(favorite), Steak House, and Seafood restaurants, and would not recommend the Mexican restaurant. Met a lot of wonderful people from the US and received many recommendations on the Japanese restaurant, but didn't make it there. Numerous buffet and bar locations with excellent selection, also had 24 hour sports bar, golf course and other restaurants that served lunch, which provided a lot of variety on a huge resort. From those we spoke with in the Adult Only section, they preferred the Palace side of the resort, which contained younger people (below age 65) and a lot more choices on food and fun. Only need to bring swimsuits, cover ups, and dinner clothes to enjoy this beautiful resort. Also, bring your own large insulated cup for your drinks versus being served a 6 oz. plastic cup. The grounds were so well planned out and cared for that one could easily think you were staying at a 5 star hotel. Best beach in Punta Cana. Food/Dress Code – The food is my only real complaint. Plenty of food options at this resort, but it's less about the selection and more about the overall taste. By the 4th day I found myself wishing I could leave the resort to eat somewhere else. Everything started to taste the same. Still for the value the food simply cannot be beat. They have a strict long pants dress code for dinner which is funny considering it's a tropical island. Rooms (3.5 out of 5) - Very spacious with flat screen tv's a mini bar and a patio or balcony. The furnishings were a bit bare and felt a bit cheap, but nothing that would ruin your stay. My wife and I stayed at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach for our 10th anniversary. It was our 12th all inclusive together. The beach is simply amazing. Large, long, clear blue water. A little seaweed does wash up but the staff rakes it up quickly. The place is immaculate. The staff is always picking up down to the little twigs. Another reviewer said the common […] bathrooms were dirty. She was not there when I was as they were very new, modern and immaculate. The bartenders were not overly friendly but they were efficient. One tip, make sure you say pina coloda with rum or may just get the mix from the machine. The bartenders at night are better and love it when you invite them to creat a drink. The entertainment was above average. The evening restaurants were all good (Chez Gourmet is the best - Great steak) but the reservations system is a little restrictive. I do not like to be tied to eat at a certain time while on vacation. On the other hand, we never waited. We upgraded to Club premium and had an ocean front room. For me, it was well worth it. We received a free bottle of rum, two massages, a great staff to work with, better rooms, free room service, free wi-fi. It more than paid for itself. There were a few bumps, we had to track washcloths one night, we were placed in the wrong room type our first night but this was corrected within14 hours, there is no bar service on the beach (pool service was good) but these were very minor problems. We chose Barcelo Beach Resort for our first anniversary trip. We had previously stayed at Excellence for our honeymoon. The resort is quiet and smaller, but if you preferred larger, it was only a quick trolley ride away. The food was also very good. And, you will get to meet some of the finest personnel in the entire resort. Jazmin, Mabel and Ana were there to get us checked in, make dinner reservations and seemingly anything else we wanted and did so willingly and with a smile. They love their job and it shows. Thanks for all your help. The drinks are good, and ask for your brand. Just because it is visible on the counter doesn't mean they do not have it. After staying at excellence, we expected the majority of the patrons to be couples. There were quite a few that were not. I enjoyed my stay at Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort. This is primarily a Spanish speaking resort, but I was able to still get around the bars, restaurant and say "Hola" and "Gracias" to people. I went by myself to unplug, not to problem solve, and no one else's schedule. I came home relaxed and re-energized. We stayed at Beach "adults only" property. It was fantastic. We got a regular room and had views of the ocean from our patio. Ask for buildings 2 or 4, they will have ocean views in regular rooms. Buildings 1 & 3 are tucked back and won't have ocean views. Views from all rooms will be nice as resort is full of trees and greenery. Resort was completely […] full but you wouldn't have guessed this by how quiet and easy it was to get food/drink/beach chairs, etc. Beach was amazing, sand like flour, lots of palms. Water was warm, clear and lots of shallows. There were little fish swimming around which was fun. We spent most nights wandering over to the "family side" to try out their restaurants. My favorite was the Mexican & Italian places, my husband liked the Steakhouse & Seafood places. The buffets had every type of food you could think of. You could always find the basics, fruit, pasta, bread, salads, potatoes, pizza, beef, chicken so even the pickiest of eaters should be fine. The Sports Bar was fun and always had food available. You won't spend much time on the "family side" except to eat and see shows because it's MUCH bigger and has tons of people(kids) running around and isn't near as peaceful. We found the people to be very kind and fun. I speak only Sesame Street Spanish(words I learned as a kid on Sesame Street) and we were fine. This Hotel was good although we had minor problems with house keeping, First off let me start with the food the buffet food at our food was a 4 out of 5 but the buffet food at the main resort was a 5 out of 5. The hotel has a free train service that takes you to each of the 5 resorts including the golf course and spa which is awesome and runs on time […] and runs until 4 am!!. If you do decide to stay here i would recommend booking all your reservations for dinner at the various restaurants the first day you get there because it can be very very busy if you don't. The Mexican food was 5 star quality so was the seafood in the Marisco rest. The steak house was 4 star quality and so was the only restaurant on our resorts. FYI if your into Baby back ribs try the sports bar at lunch time its all you can eat. The casino was rather small and no one seemed to win anything. House keeping is the only thing keeping this hotel from a 5 star rating in my books. When they clean they do a good job it was just waiting for them to clean which was the problem. On avg they would clean the room at 3 pm which i found unacceptable. The drinks at the bars were very good and the servants were excellent beyond words. My tip here would be to not buy from the Hotel they sell 3X the prices walk towards the end of the beach and you will see vendors who give you all the same perks and are dirt cheap. Read more

This was a really great experience. I went with a friend to Barceló Bávaro Beach and had an amazing time day and night. There are a lot of couples that come to this hotel. It is the more tranquil one in the resort and has more places to lie or sit and relax. However if you want to have a more energetic atmosphere you can walk along the beach or take […] the little train to the other hotel (Bávaro Palace) and there you will find families and more music at the pool area. The beach of Barceló Palace has all the water equipment. We went once in a while to Bávaro Palace but we found this one to be cleaner (because of the kids) so we didn't stay too long. The food is spectacular, we absolutely loved the buffet for breakfast lunch and dinner. There are some great restaurants too at the resort that are included, and our favorite was a steak restaurant called "Santa Fe" where the steak was phenomenal. At night time there is a nice "discoteca" where the drinks are also all included and it has a nice feel to it. There is also a great club close by called "Imagine" where we went for one night with a package deal from Barceló. You definitely won't regret this vacation! Read more

My boyfriend and I recently spent 2 nights at the brand new Barcelo Bavaro Beach (opened in December 2011), and we were genuinely impressed with every aspect of this hotel during our stay. The hotel is breathtaking, and I don't just mean the part of it where we stayed -- the Barcelo property is unbelievably huge, with multiple hotels, a shopping/casino/dining […] plaza the size of a mall, a golf course, a convention center, and other features. Take the quaint-looking train that goes to all the locations on the property and you'll see how impressive this complex is. As for the Bavaro Beach hotel specifically, it was all-around fantastic: the food was excellent with a wide selection at the buffet; the service was friendly and responsive; the a la carte restaurants were great (especially Chez Gourmet); the pool is the nicest of all the hotels we'd been to, with a great bar next to it and waiters who will bring your drinks to the pool, and the beach is also gorgeous. Make sure you make reservations for the a la carte restaurants when you arrive (check-in will direct you to the guest services office). The only minor drawback for us was that the room didn't quite match the brand new feeling of the rest of the hotel: it seemed more like it was an older room (especially the bathroom) that was spruced up for the new hotel. I don't know if that's true of all rooms in the hotel. Nevertheless, it was comfortable and well-located. I can't recommend this place enough - enjoy! Read more
