"The Occidental Punta Cana..would try elsewhere"
My first impression of the hotel was very nice. To our surprise, our room was very spacious with a huge balcony and a pull out couch. The only problem is the air conditioning in our room was horrible. We complained to the concierge person who was in charge of our building but nothing was ever done to fix the unit. It was uncomfortable to sleep at night. […] The bathroom tub was filthy and needs to be updated!!!! This resort claims to have 4 restaurants but when we arrived Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 P.M, to make a reservation for Wednesday night, we couldn't because the concierge desk is open from 8am-12n. The following day we wanted a reservation for Asian and they close every other day so the night when Asian was available it was oversold!!!! We visited 3 out of the 4 restaurants and they were vacant most of the time. It was frustrating to have to constantly try to make reservations in the first place, let alone be told "sorry oversold." The pool was nice until I noticed someone puked in the pool! I spoke to someone to have it cleaned and had to have someone else complain because it was over an hour until was cleaned. They should also have cocktail servers taking poolside orders, but they do not. The late night shows were so boring that we had to get on stage ourselves. The theater is outside and with the humidity it was overbearing and very uncomfortable. The food was decent. The breakfast was the best because they offfered a variety of pastries, homemade crepes, omelettes, smoothies and fruits. The staff were friendly as well. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not as bad as they say !!!!"
We had a great time at the Occidental. The beach was amazing and the staff was super friendly. The only complaint about the hotel would be the food was not so good the Pizza and Mexican is all we ate for seven days the breakfast was ok too. They were always cleaning and grooming the grounds. If you can take a day trip to Higuey about a hour away from […] the resort a $ 3.50 bus ride and things are cheaper gifts and liquor. Also go to Mangu Disco to was great have all ur drinks at the lobby bar tho because the club charges. Overall we would go back to The Occidental. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
