"European beds suck"
While the bed in this hotel is not atypical of European beds, it leaves a lot to be desired. As seems to be standard, the bed is two twin beds pushed together (and as easily pushed apart, whether intended or not). The photo of the room showed what looked to be a single king-sized bed, but the bed in the room does not look that way. It has two separate […] beds with separate comforters. Again, this seems standard for European rooms, but it's still obnoxious. Other sources of annoyance were the constant clicking outside the room (about once every 1-2 minutes, something would click between one and eight times). I never figured out what it was, but it happened at all hours. It wasn't loud, but it was annoying. Additionally, the free in-room internet (wired only) is ridiculously slow. The one telephone call that I successfully made cost 6 Euros for a local call that was only a few minutes long. The breakfast buffet was decent, but quite pricey (14 Euros/person/day). The swimming pool is tiny and since it is unheated, it is basically unusable. There is no hottub or jacuzzi. Other than that, the stay was lovely. The hotel is nested in Tiergarten, which is absolutely beautiful. The staff is kind and helpful. The on-site bike rental is convenient (though the bike aren't great). Hotel service is great and breakfast as well! But we stayed a week and the floor got very dusty and dirty (it was snowy/rainy wearher). seemed like the cleaning was just tidying and new towels. "Shiny white, poor wireless, but on 200 bus route"
The hotel is on the main 200 bus route (stops in both directions just outside the hotel) and is very convenient to travel into Berlin city centre and get to the zoo. The hotel sits beside the South Korean embassy (a pretty quiet neighbour) and just down the road from lots of other embassies. The description suggested there was complimentary wifi ... […] this was only available in reception and there was no wifi in the bedrooms. There was free wired internet access (128kbps) in the bedroom and you could pay for higher speeds, but no wifi for ipads/iphones etc. The bedroom was like a scene out of a sci fi movie - bright white shiny plastic walls, white fittings, white duvet cover, and one wall covered with blue wavy wallpaper. Not good if you had a headache. However, room was very quiet and there was airconditioning. Staff were friendly, but not always as helpful as I'd have liked. When I asked where the swimming pool was, it would have been good if they'd mentioned it was mandatory to rent bathrobes from reception as there was no changing room by the pool. "Sauberkeit läßt zu wünschen übrig"
Auf Sauberkeit müßte mehr geachtet werden, besonders die Nachkontrolle ist meiner Meinung nach unzuverlässig. Haare auf dem Badezimmerboden geht nicht, nach der Reklamation immer noch welche vorhanden. In einem neuen Zimmer Nr. 221 genau das gleiche. Angeblich ein Comfortzimmer, Duschvorhang !!!!! unmöglich, auf Sauberkeit dieser Vorhänge sollte doch […] unbedingt geachtet werden, ansonsten eckelig. Auf dem Glasschreibtisch im ersten Zimmer Nr.223 Reste vom Klebstoffen, in Zimmer 223 staubige Glasflächen. Auf dem Toilettenrand von Zi 223 noch Urinspritzer vom vorherigen Gast, zwar darübergewischt, aber verschmiert. Non posso che confermare i giudizi positivi che avevo letto riguardo alla pulizia e alla cortesia del personale, le stanze poi sono nuove e molto ben arredate così come il bagno. Il problema è che noi eravamo in tre e ci è stata data un doppia adattata a tripla: il risultato è stato che se uno si muoveva nella stanza, due dovevano stare seduti a letto […] perchè non ci si muoveva nè in due nè tanto meno in tre. Quindi, lo consiglio vivamente solo se si è in due per stanza. inoltre lo avevo selezionato tra quelli che avevano il collegamento internet gratuito perchè mio marito ha necessità di controllare quotidianamente la propria posta elettronica, ma all'arrivo ci è stato detto che il collegamento non era disponibile nella stanza ma solo nella hall. The rooms were nice, the pool was to small, only place for two person to swim at the same time. The breakfast was ok, but where was the ham, kodhskinken? Strange.
