Tiergarten, an expanse of greenery located in the city centre, is Berlin's largest park and features the Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, Victory Column, Bellevue Palace, Soviet Memorial and the zoo. Extensive renovation of the government quarter along the Spree, including Potsdamer Platz and the main train station, has spread to land that was formerly the border zone. The park is popular with runners year round and outdoor food vendors in summer.

"Good location, great breakfast, but not fancy"
If you are in Berlin to shop, then this is a well placed cheap hotel. Close to KaDeWe and the main commercial shopping strip, as well as close to the U-Bahn at Wittenbergplatz, it's a safe, decent area, although it lacks 'local' flavor. The hotel was ok, my room was clean, the breakfast with a great selection, but my room was musty and damp/old smelling. […] (I was in one of the cheaper unrenovated rooms). The staff were great at the front desk, helpful and efficient and I really appreciated the complimentary wi-fi. As a sole female traveler I felt safe not only in the hotel but the surrounding area, and with a bakery and supermarket, drug store and shops nearby, it was handy. The hotel was pretty much full of older people (and some family groups) seemingly on budget tours. If you just want a hotel to put your head down at night and with a strong breakfast to start your day then this is it. "Hotel in central Berlin"
This hotel is a nice place to establish a base for exploring Berlin. Convenient U-Bahn and buses are close by. The physical premises of the hotel are a bit shabby and have not been upgraded in a while but provide what I would call solid comfort. There is no air conditioning (not at least in the room I had) and that would not normally be an issue but […] it was in the mid 90s (Fahrenheit) almost every day at the beginning of July. The fact that windows could be opened made the room possible and, in fact, pleasant at night with a cool breeze coming in. The breakfast is superior and only those looking to find fault would complain. My only problem was that the WiFi was not working in my room, but the staff quickly changed my room and the problem was solved. The Sorbat is located in a quiet area of Berlin near an underground station. It is also in walking distance of the zoo. Which is cool! Built in the 1960s and still reflects that style. Rooms are spacious enough, staff helpful. Bathroom requires a bit of agility as exit from shower is too close to commode, and water pressure a bit erratic, temperature hot, hot or chilled. With practice, can be adjusted. My stay at SORAT Ambassador was a short one but the location has been the key advantage of the hotel. Located at Wittenburg Plz its right next to the famous Zoo and Aquarium - one of the famous tourist spots here. I had booked the cheapest room, but its quality was so bad. I got so disappointed when I checked in. But for a little bite more per night I upgraded my room to a comfort room. the comfort room was very nice and newly renovated. Free Internet was excellent. Breakfast was included in my room and it was the best. free beer, water, apple juice was included […] and amazing. Oh, one more thing: the location was excellent. right beside the subway and the main shopping district in Berlin. "Decent budget hotel."
I was there for a bizz convention and stayed for 4 days ely October this year. The hotel has a good location - walking distance frm shopping streets, K'dam area with restaurants and what have you - and just around the corner frm Tiergarten. The hotel itself was okay, not to shabbey and not to fancy. My room was a bit worn out but at a very competitive […] price, I suppose you cant expect the Ritz. Still a bit surprised that there was no mini-bar in the room - and also a bit surprised that some of the hotel-personell seemed not to be very fluent in english.
