Built during the Berlin Airlift in 1948, Tegel Airport is located eight kilometres north of the Berlin central station, connected by bus TXL. Air Berlin flies from terminal C whereas all other airlines operate from A and B. Tegel is known for its convenience and efficiency, and the unique hexagon shape of terminals A and B makes walking distances short. It is due to close in 2011 for the expansion of Schönefeld Airport.

"Good airport hotel"

"Easy In / Easy Out near TXL"
Very convenient to TXL airport in what was the eastern sector. The #128 direct and only a few stops from the airport and stops at hotel door. The Hotel is a 2 minute walk to the subway Ubahn station that goes to Friedrichstrasse. The hotel is near the end of the runway but has multiple pane glass so you don't notice the jets overhead. A few local restaurants […] and snack shops but basically a residential district. Plan to ride the train to the sights or other attractions. Very good. The food was very expensive but luckily it is within walking distance to a mall and some restaurants and Underground Subway. There is a microwave, ref, in the room making the nearby supermarket very convenient. Another GREAT PLUS is there is FREE WIFI in the room. "Convenient transfer from airport and to centre"
This Hotel is excellent for bus transfer on tghe 128 from Tegel airport, it also has a good link two minutes away onto the U-Bahn line 6 which takes about 15 minutes direct to the city centre. Goede hotel dicht bij de metrolijn naar het centrum (ongeveer 3 minuten lopen en dan 12 minuten met de metro). Jammer dat er te weinig stopcontacten waren, opladen moet in de badkamer. Das Dorint Hotel liegt in einer Seitenstraße nahe dem Kurt-Schumacher-Platz. Super Verkehrsanbindung mit der U6 in die Stadtmitte und dem Bus 128 in 10 Minuten zum Flughafen Tegel. Der Hotel-Komplex ist inzwischen etwa 20 Jahre alt. Das sieht man dem Teppichboden und der Badeinrichtung an. Zudem liegt das Hotel ca. 500 Meter Luftlinie in der Verlängerung […] der Start- und Landebahn des Flughafens. Die Fenster sind bestens schallisoliert. Wer bei offenem Fenster schlafen will, sollte jedoch besser ein anderes Quartier wählen oder bereits taub sein. Der Service an der Rezeption war sehr hilfreich und freundlich. Wir konnten den Online-Checkin vor Ort am PC ausführen. Leider fährt der Hotel-Shuttle zum Flughafen erst ab 5Uhr. Bei der Organisation zur Anreise zum Flughafen wurden uns aber alle benötigten Informationen mitgeteilt und ausgedruckt. Die regelmäßige Verbindung mit dem Bus war völlig ausreichend. Das Hotel liegt mit dem Bus oder Taxi nur ein paar Minuten vom Flughafen Berlin-Tegel entfernt. Die U-Bahn-Haltestelle ist gleich um die Ecke, von dort geht es mit der U6 direkt ins Zentrum.
