Our chef is renowned for serving up fresh local and continental delights. Full American breakfast is included with the room rate.
Guests of the hotel have full access to the botanical gardens, butterfly gardens, mud bath and natural sauna, hot spring pools, fresh water pool & bullet slide, hummingbird sanctuary, frog and fish ponds and the gym. There are also many nearby Eco-tours and adventures to choose from, like the blue river, zip lining, water tubing, river rafting, horseback riding, waterfalls, and several nature visits -they are not to be missed. Our jewel is the natural mineral green hot springs found bubbling-up from the surface, at the resort, which are harnessed to fill 4 large spectacular pools. Each pool has different features and temperature. Add to this the fresh water pool with a bullet water slide. Great fun for kids and adults! Indulge yourself in a revitalizing Spa treatment and release yourself to the serenity. Experience the natural mud bath and natural sauna found in the middle of the Botanical Gardens where the hot springs creek flows alongside a fresh water creek. The mud is warmed in the water and the sauna is built over the hot springs. Then wash off the mud and cool off in the fresh water stream. At the Botanical Gardens enjoy over 800 different varietals - plus the orchid garden, hummingbird sanctuary, frog, fish and turtle ponds. Each major rainforest species of trees and flowers are grouped together. Relax on one of the benches, taking in the colors, smells and beauty. The Butterfly Gardens feature exotic Costa Rica varieties such as the blue morpho. Receive a tour and learn about the life cycle as butterflies fly, feed, mate and lay eggs. Eco-adventure tours are all nearby! Only the north side of Rincon de la Vieja National Park and Volcano offers opportunities distinct and unique as compared to the south side. The environment is cool lush rainforest and only are found 2 blue volcanic rivers (Rio Azul & Rio Penjamo); natural mineral green hot springs, abundant and different species of animal life; plus many grand waterfalls. For the young and the young at heart there is much to offer. Another very important advantage is that everything is close at hand. "adventure family"
if you like the outdoors and have an adventurous family, you will like Blue River. make sure to get the guided waterfall excursion - make sure to take your swimsuit and swim under the falls. 30-60 minute drive on a fairly tough dirt road...only way up. staff was great. the hotsprings pools were nice - kid friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Worth every penny."
It was a beautiful hotel, located right in front of the volcano. Every morning spectacular views and cool breezes mixed with the Costa Rican sun. The grounds were beautiful with tons to see and do. We went tubing and on the zip line during our stay. Would go back in a heart beat.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"awesome"
We didn't like that you have to drive 20km on a dirt road only to show up and see a lobby that's still under construction. However, every single other thing about this hotel is excellent. The service is impeccable, the activities are lots of fun, and everything you could want from a hotel is done to the best of their abilities.
