Very decent family style resort. It is relatively small, so everything is right there: pool, restaurant, lobby and the beach. However, if you are looking for variety of restaurants and entertainment in the resort this is not right place for you to go. Staff is very friendly and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great beach resort"
FBR is a great beach side resort with happy and pleasant staff. Located across the best beach in the area. Amazing sunsets! The breakfast plan was great, always fresh fruit, fresh juices and different breakfast options including an omelet stand. The pool area is one of the best I have ever seen. Our family enjoyed our stay at Flamingo. It was family friendly, close proximity to beach ( access road before beach not an issue ), and a nice beach free of other hotels. The staff was very helpful, the concierge went out of her way to help us find a used surf board shop. Nice pool with swim up bar. The only 2 things that needed improving were: the […] bartender at the swim up bar was extremely slow ( go to the upper outside bar for faster service and the rooms could use some cosmetic work. "Great place for the location and price"
The entire Guanacaste coast is fairly rural so if you are picturing beach town go to tamarindo. This hotel is a great resort by costa rica standards and I highly recommend it based on affordability for what you get. Has some of the best access to a very beautiful and clean white sand beach, decent food, good service, clean rooms and overall good vibe. […] It even has a little casino! "Flamingo Beach Resort, March 2012"
My friends and I really enjoyed our stay at Flamingo Beach. We had a few issues with charging food/drinks to our room initially, but once it was taken care of, there were no problems. We stayed in 2 seperate rooms, one of which didn't have a fridge - but this actually turned out to be ok because we didn't need it. The pool is beautiful and the swim […] up bar amazing. There is also immediate access to the beach from the pool. Some of the bartenders were absolutely incredible at making drinks and typically never skimped on the alcohol. All of the staff members were friendly, courteous, and spoke very good English. The breakfast buffet was also amazing. On a few occasions, ordering off the menu proved to have slow service, but we weren't too bothered by this. All in all, we had a wonderful time and would gladly stay here again. "Overall, Great!"
We were at this hotel for our honeymoon and had a great time. One issue was that there were no elevators for the second floor rooms. The location is great - perfect beach location! The food at the restaurant was wonderful, service was not always as good.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Flamingo Beach Hotel, Playa Flamingo, Costa Rica"
This hotel is a little run down and needs some attention. The dining areas are not very inspired and the menu items aren't varied enough. Those who purchased an all-inclusive package got a pretty good deal. Those who ordered off the menu were overcharged. I got sick after eating the ceviche the first night. We did not drink the water of have ice in […] our beverages. The beach was nice and the pool activities were fun. There wasn't much activity to participate in without a car. "Playa Flamingo Hotel"
Great location, great beach. Don't listen to the malcontents that complain about the hotel not really being on the beach. It is on the beach with a lightly traveled gravel road between the actual hotel property and the sandy beach. BIG deal. The beach vendors were friendly and courteous. The hotel pool is large and nice. I would not recommend the all […] inclusive option however. There are a number of very good, and i mean very good restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Prices are 1/3 less than home. If you really need to get wasted everyday while on vacation then the all inclusive might be worth it. But do the rest of us a favor if your that type, stay home and get wasted instead Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"We loved the hotel"
althought we resreve 2 double beds, they had only king bed room. We stayed for 4 nights so they gave us a suit for 2 nightrs and made us change the room for the other 2 nights, which was uncomfertable! The suit wae nice but the regular room are very simple like 3 star hotel in the US! The hotel has a great game room with ping pong, pool and other games. At […] 8 oclock you already cannot find a chair at the pool...wake up at 7 if you would like one! The beach is graet and the sunset is awsom. "Good hotel to sleep only"
It is a nice hotel with very good breakfast. The all inclusive does not worth it. It is better and cheaper to pay only for the night and breakfast and during the day go to the beautiful beaches that are around and eat in some local restaurants. The swimming pool is nice too.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Flamingo Beach Resort small, close to beach."
Flamingo Beach Resort is very elegant, not real big and wraps around swimming pool and right onto beach. Beach not real large but enough. We were just there and not many people were there so we felt like we had beach to ourselves. Water was somewhat rough but kids loved it. It has a casino, game room with pool table and ping pong and a couple of shops. […] Staff was great! Food was excellent. We also ate at Marie's(casual but good) and Angelina's across street. Angelina's was excellent food. Finally found monkeys in tree next to resort - sound ferocious. Iguana(large) and raccoons came up on swim-up bar. Took ATV trip for 2 1/2 hours to other beaches. Great! We had spent 3 nights at Arenal and then 3 nights here. Arenal was higher elevation and cooler(WONDERFUL) but warmer at Flamingo. Did have rain some. Kids were sad to leave and want to go back! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Friendly, accommodating staff"
This was out 1st visit to Flamingo Beach Resort, and we were pleased. The staff is awesome...everyone we encountered was friendly, accommodating, & helpful. The resort is small which we really enjoyed. It's definitley not the Ritz but very comfortable. Great pool area with a bar. Only complaint-they run out of beach towels at the pool most days. Pack […] your own if possible. The breakfast plan is the way to go. Great breakfast each morning. Would NOT recommend the entire meal plan. There are EXCELLENT restaurants in the area-many will come pick you up at the resort or the resort van will take you for a fee. Carlos Y Carlos was one of the best meals we have eaten anywhere-it is a MUST for dinner. Il Forno has delicious eggplant lasagna, Mar Y Sol wonderful lobster. Would definitley recommend Flamingo Beach Resort. Pack casual clothes only-it's all you will need! Booked 2 excursions thru the resort: Congo Canopy Tour which was great & fishing with Sun King which was a bust. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Flamingo Beach is a great location in Costa Rica. While it's not quite as busy as a beach town, it still has enough amenities and activities around. The restaraunt was great and reasonably priced (it seems to be a lot cheaper to not do the all-inclusive price and just pay for meals and drinks). The only complaint I had was about the tours office. They […] did a pretty good job, but I really like to comparison shop for tours and what would have been really helpful to me would have been a list of tours with descriptions. They do have a list, but it lacks prices, lengths, and descriptsions. I found that I had better luck booking activities by going to the shopping center across the street. While the hotel tells you not to use other tour agencies, we ended up using the same companies for better prices (and they could give me the information I wanted!). "Good value"
Pros- My husband, parents, and I recently stayed at the Flamingo and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean, food was good, and staff was hospitable. The spa was great, not as nice as an American spa, but the treatments were very good. The pool area was large and beautiful. Cons- We went at the beginning of April so it was the end of dry season, […] and the surrounding area was not very pretty. The resort is very out of the way from most things. It is about 1 hour to Liberia, 4.5 hours to Arenal, and 5.5 hours to Manuel Antonio. Food- We ate at the surrounding restaurants and at the hotel itself. BY FAR the best food was at Carlos y Carlos on the main road about 5 mins drive. Fresh, homemade Italian food to die for. Service was amazing. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice, not great"
I was overall satisfied with the hotel but can't give it a great review.. I had trouble checking in as I had paid a premium for a balcony overlooking the pool and they put me in a bottom level room with no view. They then put me in another room which was already occupied and finally found a room that was marginally overlooking the pool. As it turned […] out I liked the room as I could hear the surf at night. Every time I went to get a clean towel for the pool they were out and told me to go all the way back to my room and use one of the bathroom towels. Also, I had paid for breakfast inclusion and that required that I wear a dumb looking blue bracelet for my stay. Seems kind of childish. My room was spotless; I had trouble with my shower several times but they were very prompt in getting it repaired. The hotel is very well maintained and everyone is very friendly. The location is lovely as you are right across the street from Flamingo Beach and right up the hill from the hotel are several nice restaurants. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"I would go back...."
The hotel is clean and located just across a small road to the beautiful, clean Flamingo Beach. The hotel is older, but in good shape. The pool is very large and very nice with a good pool bar. The building and grounds are very well-kept and the staff is very good. The food is great at breakfast with a nice variety of foods including delicious fruit. […] Dinner is not that spectacular and drinks are very expensive. If you are a big drinker, then you should do the all-inclusive. You may add the all-inclusive option for all or part of your stay after you check-in... just an FYI. This allows for some flexibility if you don't want to book your whole stay as all-inclusive. There are a few very good restaurants in walking distance. Some will send a shuttle to get you for no charge... If not, the hotel can get you a taxi. There is a small store, pharmacy, and great tour desk across the street in the plaza. Don't book tours ahead of time or at the hotel desk... Internet may not work in your room, but WiFi worked well in the lobby area. Go on some excursions and try some local restaurants.... Just Go!!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"So relaxing!"
We really loved this hotel! Very chill place, and everyone was so accommodating. It's away from the hustle and bustle of other areas, and is a really fun place to kick back. The tour guys at the scuba shop helped out a lot with booking some fun tours- ziplining, mangrove cruise, surf lessons, and scuba. The drinks were excellent and plentiful and the […] food was perfect. Our only suggestion is that they should staff the upstairs "sunset bar" with more waiters. You're allowed to eat dinner up there, which we recommend doing, but the poor bartender is all alone up there and running all over the place. Downstairs in the more formal dining room there are about 5 waiters waiting for guests. Not sure if this was just because it was low season or not, but it looked to me like the management wasn't paying attention. Everything else was wonderful! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"I would love to live close, so I can go there more frequently"
Unfortunately, my husband and I just stayed 1 night in our way to San Jose next morning. Big mistake! This spot of the world is gorgeous and the hotel is small but quite comfortable. The beach is small but very clean and tranquil. Just take note that this hotel is allocated a few miles from the next town so if you would like the crowd and the convenience […] of stores and restaurants and such, I think this is not for you, on the other hand if you are looking for a peaceful place to recharge your batteries or a romantic getaway, don't hesitate: this is it! "Beautiful Location, comfortable beds!"
The Flamingo Beach Resort & Spa was a great place to stay at the end of our vacation. We stayed there with a group of friends in January for 2 nights so that we could finish our month long vacation with a bang. From the time that we checked into the hotel we felt relaxed. We were greeted with special cocktails at the front desk and were able to check […] in a couple hours early. Our room was fantastic! It was located on the ground floor and had sliding doors out to the pool area. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable! The pool was also great and had a view of the ocean, which was nice. The food at the hotel was ok as well....try the chicken parmesan!! I highly recommended this hotel to anyone needing a break before a long trip home. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

El lugar es muy bonito pero el hotel ya está algo viejo, se nota fácilmente en sus puertas, baño y acabados. Wij vonden het een goed hotel. Service was goed en bedienend personeel was erg aardig. Eten was heerlijk. Op het moment dat wij er waren was het niet druk met hotelgasten.
