We booked 4 rooms a month in advance. When we arrived, they put us in 4 different rooms on 3 different floors. One of the rooms only had a small single bed in it, even though we asked for 2 double beds in each room. The hot water went out in one room, and we had to move to another. The hotel is in a good location, however it's very dated. The bathrooms did not work properly, the a/c was a joke and the beds felt like they had a board under the mattress. I guess the saying is correct when they say "you get what you pay for". That is a reality in this case.

Good place to say for the money. It's an older hotel, but they keep it clean. Did not use the outdoor pool, too many leaves the day I tried. I was happy the A/C unit in my room worked well (I like it cold). Online I booked a king bed room for myself but upon arrival I was notified there were no more kings available, instead they gave me a room with […] three single beds. The only thing that I would change would be the mattress... very hard. If you are a light sleeper try to get a room away from the street, the car horns are honking 24/7. Stayed for four nights at Hotel Europa in december 2012. For the cheap price we payed, it was well worth it. The included breakfast is delicious, the hotel is right in the center of downtown San Jose and the staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel includes a restaurant, bar and casino. There are many small restaurants and cafeteria near the hotel where […] you can eat lunch and dinner for real cheap, and there is a bank with ATMs on the other side of the street to withdraw money in colones from your account. Taxi fare from the airport was ~25$. They also have free internet in all the rooms and it is a very good one, around 2mbps download. The only issue I had with this place was that the elevator was broken and we were on the 3rd floor. Not a big deal, but it could be a problem if you are physically incapable. No thrills hotel, good customer service at the reception, good location for the price.

This hotel is a short 20 min drive from the san jose airport. Taxi runs about $25 to hotel. Hotel will exchange currency for better rate than airport, and no fee so wait if you can. rate was 500 colones per 1 usd, were airport was 440 colones per 1 usd. Great reception area. Casino next door w slots and tables. Rooms are nice, large, little out dated […] but clean and more than worth price per night. Breafast is nice buffet plate they fix for you. Was two in rm and thought price included 2 for buffet, but on second day, was req to pay $6 for second person, but no big deal. Great pick up and drop off for day trips and excusions from hotel, to volcano, baldi spas, etc. Plan on going back for white water rafting with friends and def will stay here again. Short walking distance to Casino del ray, and key largo bar. Nice atmosphere at night. Streets around hotel and downtown are busy in day and ghost town at night, but all in all safe to walk around at night. Also a nice pool. Read more

Hotel is located in a shady area, but most of San Jose is shady. There are always security officers in lobby area and cameras located on every floor. The staff was nice and helped me out. However, I did order a non-smoking room and got smoking. Plus the shower only had cold water and was clogged so I could not take a shower in the AM. Wireless internet in the lobby was the fastest in CR.

Hotel staff were great. Very good free breakfast. Free parking. 2 internet pc in lobby for guests also free. Walking distance to most things musium, government and pedestrian shopping. However, not located in the business, medical or high end shopping district and it is a very old hotel so it has its failings. No hot water one day and shower leaked […] into bathroom. I would stay again for business in SJ, not tourism. However, all of this was ok with me but the traffic was more than I imagined. Visitcostarica.com advises to stay in San Jose because there is so much to see within 200 miles. While this is true, it is is not practicle. The traffic is like nothing I have ever seen (And I am from NYC). Lots of cars and no infrastructure. SJ is not advisable as a base for tourism. Pas de balcon ni vue sur la ville, pas d'équipement promis (lit de qualité ordinaire, salle de bain très ordinaire...). Detta hotell har sett sina basta dagar. Underhallet kunde varit mycket battre. Hissen fungerade inte och heltackningsmattan pa rummet var smutsig. Trots detta var det helt okej att bo har, personalen var trevlig och hjalpsam. Laget mitt i centrum och gangavstand till det mesta var valdigt bra. Frukostbuffen mycket god.

Stannade bara en natt. Vänlig och trevlig personal. Rummet var ganska stort, en nackdel ac'n lät som en dammsugare så fick vara igång under dagtid och avstängd på natten. Landet i san jose ganske sent og skulle vidre neste morgen, saa bestilte hotellet for en natt. Servicen er god, og internett pc tilgjengelig. Minuset er at rommet og badet mitt luktet ganske vondt saa det var vanskelig aa sovne. Generellt var det rent og sikkert, men litt mörkt og dystert.
