"Great couples time, pool was nice, good drinks!"
Hotel and grounds were excellent. The trails were nice and saw monkeys in the morning. The food at the hotel could have been better. Suggest you go into town and eat local.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good choice for Manuel Antonio area"
Overall we had a very good experience with this hotel. The location is good, in the middle of a lot of trees and near the sea. It's too far to walk to town, but that's true with most hotels in the area. I recommend having a car, but alternatively there are taxis and there are tours, which you can organize through the hotel. It's a relatively large hotel […] and some of its amenities end up being unused, such as the mini golf. It has 3 pools (one is adult only), and there is snack/drink service in the pools. The main pool has a bar. The other important attraction is the monkey trail in the back of the hotel. It's a nice trail for a short hike and, if you are lucky you can spot monkeys there. We were not lucky, possibly because these days were hot. There is also a beach about 15 min walk from the hotel (the hotel gives you towels if you want), which is very nice, quieter than the main Manuel Antonio beaches. We had a nice sea view from our room, the room was clean, the service was good, the only problem was that bugs were coming into the room sometimes. The hotel's main restaurant is good, but I believe slightly overpriced. There is free breakfast with a lot of choice, not the best quality but probably you will find some decent options as it's included in the rate. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good for familes or honeymooners"
We had a great time and really loved our rooms. We had a quite for 3 in the family and a premium room for two both rooms were beautifully decorated with outstanding views and were very good value. They have three pools but unfortunately 2 are for adults only (but we didn't to go Costa Rica to hang out at the pool). We liked the location of the hotel, […] it is somewhat private. Some slight downsides, beach that was in walking distance from the hotel was disgusting and crowded, hotel staff did not know very basic info on surrounding parks (we were told the Manuel Antonio park opened at 7:30 but it was actually 7am which makes a big difference during the high tourist season), we signed up for a bus to the park on the day the park was closed and even though we talked to several staff no one mentioned and while they have a hotel shuttle is it not reliable (as far as timeliness). The food at the hotel was very mediocre and not at all worth the high prices but the good news is a very short distance from the hotel there are some real winners (Falls and Cafe Milagro). I would absolutely stay there again I would just make sure I rented a car and I would not seek advice from the hotel staff. Like I said the rooms were outstanding and a good price, the location was great, there are monkeys all over the place and the staff are very nice even if they are not that knowledgeable. We stayed at the Parador for 2 nights in March 2013. Our first room had substandard air conditioning, however the next night they upgraded us to a room that was excellent all respects. The grounds and decor were very nice. They had a hiking trail through the grounds as well. The beach was a bit far off consisting of a 12 to 15 minute walk. The Manual […] Antonio State Park was a short 10 minute drive away, and it had wonderful beaches and wildlife. Overall, we had a very nice time there Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I enjoyed the Parador, hotel guest services very excellent! A little too remote, would have liked the shuttle to go hourly through town to beach all day and night. Then the location wouldn't have felt so remote.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Friendly Staff - Nice Accommodations"
Great location and friendly helpful staff - would certainly stay there again! If you like wildlife, you will enjoy the resident monkeys. As others have said, hotel restaurant is pricey (not unusual) but there are options near if you have a car. I certainly recommend the Barba Roja - you won't be disappointed - great food, great location for sunsets […] and super friendly staff! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"First rate hotel at Manuel Antonio"
Beautiful property, safe and private although off the beaten.path. Great staff and service. Lots of interesting things to look at, all sorts of private areas to enjoy. My family loved it, we are frequent visitors to Manuel Antonio but our first time here, this will be our new return to place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great resort, but not as Close"
The Parador resort was wonderful with the best breakfast buffet I ever had. However, unless you book tours that will provide you with transportation, you will need to taxi to get around. Parador sits on a hill by itself. They do offer complimentary shuttle service to Manuel Antonio National park until 5:15pm.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice resort, great ocean view, no beach near."
Nice resort, huge contact with tropical rainforest within the place (iguanas, crabs, monkeys and sloths), food very expensive for a family of 5, no beach near (have to take a shuttle to Manuel Antonio or walk 300mts to Biesanz beach, very rocky), included breakfast was good.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Parador spring break"
Beautiful property. Fabulous pool and spa. Room stayed in was garden level overlooking the tennis courts which was ok view. Room was 2 doubles, clean, nice/comfortable beds with a nice sized bathroom, hairdryer, etc - all worked great. Staff was polite and helpful. Wonderful pool, lounge area and also had an adult pool if wanted quiet area. We bright […] our 16 and 13 year old and they had a great time as did we. Internet does not have access In the rooms but was free in the common area. Tour concierge was helpful recommending a local, nearby snorkel tour with kayaks for $35/pp Vs going on an overcrowded catamaran for double the cost per person. We had a personal guide as well who dove and showed us starfish and sea cucumbers which we would have never seen on the crowded tour. We had a great time and they were very helpful and it was a nice hotel! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A few things would have put our stay over the top."
Beautiful views, nice property - attentive staff. Pool water was too warm for as hot as it was outside. A refreshing cool temperature would have been welcomed. Also, some air conditioned spaces besides the room might make it more comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Lots of on-site options"
Had a lovely 7 night stay at the Parador. It is one of the more resort like hotels in MA with lots of on-site options. Room was lovely--we received an upgrade from a garden room to the next level. Pool and grounds were very nice. There is no air conditioning outside of the rooms, which you eventually get used to. The art around the hotel was really […] something--lots of attention has been paid to the small details. This resort is not for someone with walking issues--nothing but stairs and hills. The beach is down a steep road where cars speed by and then a mile down a trail. It drew lots of locals and had no beach chairs or bathrooms or drinks. You can take a golf cart down the road but still have to walk the trail. We stayed by the pool. I saw many little kids that looked bored to death..I would not recommend the hotel for a family vacation. I thanked my lucky stars that i did not bring my children on the trip. Food at the hotel was mediocre...brunch was quite good and the lunch menu was far better than the dinner menu. You cannot walk into town from the hotel so plan on paying around $8-10 each way in a taxi to go anywhere--and far less back from the restaurants. The hotel menu was quite pricey--about $80 per couple for dinner with a few drinks, so the taxi will be a wash. Service was good, but the waiter at the pool restaurant never had any customers yet never once asked us or anyone else if we wanted anything to drink. Seemed quite odd. The pool bar was lovely but had the most unfriendly bartender. The trails around the hotel were great, the vistas were unbelievable, and we saw lots of monkeys, iguanas, and even racoons that liked to ransack the garbage each night. "Parador Resort in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica"
Hotel view was great. Employees very friendly for the most part. Beware of the tours and activities scam. They have a crazy cancellation policy and have no consideration or flexibility for emergencies. My children got sick from the room service, so we could not keep our horseback riding reservations. We cancelled a few hours after making the appointment […] and they said that it was less than 24 hours notice so we would have to be charged at the full rate. The appointment wasn't even made 24 hours before the actual time of the tour. Basically I found that it is impossible to cancel. I left with the feeling that I was ripped off. I don't recommend any of the tours. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Amazing Views, Great Location, Skip the Food"
Just got back yesterday from a 4 night stay in Costa Rica with mi novia. Three of those nights were spent here. I booked it on Hotels.com (which I recommend). If you've gotten this far then you know the views and location are paradise. The isolated area is both a pro and a con in that we chose to not rent a car ($50/day) which meant $9 minimum each […] way cab rides even to restaurants a few kms away. The demographics seemed a decent mix of mostly older (50+) then some families with young children and a handful of couples. Being a 20-sometihng couple, we were lucky to find 2 other similarly-aged couples to mix it up with. The family pool with the swim up bar closes at 8 while the adult pool with no bar is open 24/7 (explain that to me). The drinks are delicious, but not strong and are a little pricey for what you get. The bartender at the swim up bar is usually swamped. We got back on Saturday night disappointed to find the main restaurant bar closed at 11:00pm on a Saturday night... But, commensurate with the service and desire to please all around, the bartender who was cleaning up 10 minutes past, re-opend the bar and made the 4 of us drinks. Appreciated. Go ahead and book your Costa Rican Adventures through the hotel Activities desk. the prices are in-line with what you would pay elsewhere and there is usually free pick-up and drop-off at the hotel. We did the Canopy Zipline Tour and the night-time Mangrove Boat Tour. Both recommended but would choose the Zipline over the Mangrove. I was also able to find a guy that wanted to split the cheapest fishing boat for half a day ($375 total). The food (Lunch & Dinner) at the resort was expensive and disappointing but I guess you pay for the convenience to skip the $18 round trip taxi to any of the great restaurants around the hotel. I recommend Salsipeudes (Tapas) and Mar Luna (Seafood, Steak). One thing I will say is Thank God for the really great Continental Breakfast. I am addicted to Gallo Pinto. "Hotel Parador, Manual Antonio"
We enjoyed our stay at the Parador. We were previously at Manual Antonio 37 years ago, (1975). Things have change! In 1975 there was only a gravel road and a few cabinas on the beach near the current park exit. The Parador has a very polite and helpful staff, excellent service and a prominent location. There is shuttle service to the park. The room […] was clean, neat and functional with and an excellent ocean view. Although the price is a little on the high side, I can recommend this hotel as excellent for a stay in the Manual Antonio area. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Hotel Parador nice!"
We really loved the pool facilities and the breakfast at the Parador, and the room was OK. We had some ants that were near the door but I guess that can be expected in CR. Check in was very quick and easy. Wish it had a closer , bigger beach.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Austin visits the Parador"
We had a group in Manuel Antonio for a wedding. Some of our group stayed at the Parador, and others at various places. We are from Austin, and thought the hotel is great, it has an old world feel to it, but is very clean. It is at the end of the road and very much in the jungle. We had iguana's out w/ us at breakfast everyday and spider monkey's come […] by the pool and hang out. There is a free buffet style breakfast there every morning which was a huge plus and it's not just continental, it's a full spread. The prices of food and drinks we found were also better than most of the restaurants in Manuel Antonio too. Most of the staff is amazing, from the front desk, bartenders, and guest services. We did however have one person at guest services that missed details on our trip that were supposed to be arranged that weren't. They somewhat made it up, but that's why we're giving them a 4 instead of a 5. If that one person worked as great as everyone else, we'd have had an absolute perfect trip. "Hotel Parador Resort And Spa"
Excellent hotel but the quality of food at the restaurants on site was poor. A taxi ride into town is about $10/each way so it can get expensive to go eat every meal offsite. Service at the hotel was great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel Parador Quepos Costa Rica"
This is a resort destination hotel with beautiful grounds. It was close to Manuel Antonio National Park with a free shuttle service to the beach. We went without a car and found that for every where but the beach, a cab was needed. The grounds and views were once in a lifetime spectacular. Most of the bars were open but there was only one place to eat […] dinner at the resort. We went to the bars mostly to see the different ocean views. The room (garden) was large but ordinary. The National Park nearby was fantastic but we would have liked to have had our own transportation to eat in town as the shuttle ended at 5:00p.m.. The beach advertised as the resort's own beach was dirty and full of people garbage and dogs (don't waste the energy going there). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We drove a rental from San Jose, which was a little tricky, but manageable. The hotel was fantastic. Ample amounts of free shuttle service are provided to and from Manuel Antonio. If you want to go further, taxis are plentiful and affordable. The staff was consistently accomodating and friendly. I had to fumble my way through some Spanglish conversations […] with the staff, but we both did it with a smile. You really don't have to leave the resort confines, as there are multipe pools, great restaurants, and a comprehensive gift shop. And the views is insane. It's forces you to relax and take in the sweet sweet nature. I would easily stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"hotel parador, very nice place"
the hotel itself was fabulous. some criticisms. the site is very hilly and simply getting to the lobby is a work out. the monkey trail is cool, but my wife couldn't do it. the location, while beautiful, is not convenient to the rest of the area. other hotels are within walking distance to some attractions. anything requires a cab. forget walking to […] the beach. they also need to have a low level food option at dinner. sometimes, you just want a burger after a long day of eco-safari stuff, not a fancy sit down dinner. i also would have expected a hot tub or sauna. "Great Hotel in Costa Rica"
This is a great upscale hotel in the Manuel Antonio area. It's very secure and self contained so a great choice for families. The pools and surrounding grounds are first rate. "Nice end to CR trip"
This hotel is quite nice, which is safe to expect considering the price of rooms. I really liked the hospitality, the staff, the view and the grounds. My only complaints are that the hotel is a bit secluded and in an area far from other establishments, which makes it difficult to find food beyond the hotel restaurant, which is good but pricey.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is good and the people are friendly. They greeted me and my friends with drinks the moment we arrived which caught us by surprise. The hotel included free breakfast that was very delicious with a nice view. I would definitely stay here again. "Pura Vida"...(You'll hear that a lot)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Worth it for the pool and the view"
Gorgeous hotel with beautiful pool(s) and view from the pool(s); great spa; very attentive staff. Our garden-view room was fine but definitely nothing special; the room's patio was simple but nice. We were grateful that the hotel had a few different menus (sushi was good) because it is literally at the end of the road so getting meals off-site is a […] bit of an adventure. "Used to love this place"
Used to be second to none, but this time the little touches weren't there and it wasn't as impressive as before. I still love this hotel, but it used to be 5 start across the board and now it's only 4. If you can get a good deal I recommend it but don't pay $400 a night here. If you can get it for $150-$200 it's a good option.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"beautifully maintained in a glorious position"
This lovely hotel has wonderful views, beautifully kept grounds and superb breakfasts. The dinners are not so good, particularly for the prices, which for the first time in our tour of Costa Rica did not include the 23% taxes. This was also the only time when the service was less than perfect with some poorly trained waiters. Overall the experience was very nice. The hotel is well maintained and the staff is very friendly. The only thing I didn't care much for it, was the food which for me being a "foody" is a big deal. The hotel tries to serve food that is very "Americanized" menu with a few exceptions when they include rice and beans and plantain which in my opinion is […] far better than some of the "American" food. Very limited and over priced menu. If you decide to eat there for lunch, you are in for a wait. It took an hour for two courses to be served. The portions were small, over priced and not very tasty. I didn't even bother with dinner there. The menu is terrible. I went to some other restaurants in the area which are slightly cheaper (some of them very similar in price) and the food is by far.... much better. The facilities are awesome, my family really enjoyed and I would consider going there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
