"rats in the bed at El Establo"
we are retired Australians travelling the world, we have stayed in around 40 hotels this year alone. This El Establo was the worst place we have stayed. Apart from the noise, appliances not working, poor food and no coffee/tea making machine in room as promised in the brochure. When it came to sleeping, I pulled the top pillow from bed to find 5 BABY […] RODENTS curled up in the bed. We did not stay the intended 3 nights and the manager who was to speak with us in the morning was unavailable. They have ignored our communications to them and I imagine they are hoping we will go back to Australia and forget all about it, this was not a cheap hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Our worst hotel experience in Costa Rica!"
Modern facility and clean, but terrible service. A former cattle farm, they treat guests like cattle, complete with branding! Must wear a plastic wrist band on property. No coffee in room. No internet service except in lobby and super expensive. Claimed room service, but no menus in rooms. Cannot direct dial calls from room phones. Huge property, but […] front desk and switchboard not open 24 hours. Buses full of tourists at breakfast and dinner buffets, creating stampedes. Should open earlier for breakfast for guests leaving on 7am tours, but despite food and staff ready, refused to serve us early. Workmen using power tools, hammering, and yelling all day near our room. Shouldn't put guests in buildings undergoing rennovation. Owners need to hire a Disney executive who knows something about guest relations to manage this property properly! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, not good everything else"
There was nothing lush about this hotel. The interior is so dated and the staff had such rude attitudes, as if we were lucky to be allowed to check in. The rooms didn't smell or look clean. Check in was horrible, slow and rude. Like we were bothering them.Genuine Expedia guest review
