"Dated hotel, Poor location"
If you like airplanes flying over all day while you try to relax at the pool or private island, stay here! If you like staying in a hotel that literally makes you feel like you are stuck in the 70's and is very worn inside (and I checked multiple rooms) and you want to spend an outrageous nightly rate compared to better places on the island--stay here! Honestly, […] this hotel is very old and not located near any relaxing areas in Aruba or even on a nice clear beach. Planes constantly fly over. The rooms are aweful--old tubs, dingy carpet, low ceilings and ceiling tiles in bathrooms. And at the rates demanded for at this hotel, you can stay at the Divi Phoenix or other Marriott properties for much less! DO NOT STAY HERE. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nightmare Hotel"
Room was damp and smelly, complained to top management and just got the brush off. My computer and video camera was ruined and the hotel management were very rude and uncaring. They said they were not responsible for any damaged items and much less if anything is stolen. Folks, you are on your own at this hotel!! What a disappointment, paying top dollar […] for a high rated hotel only to get treated like liars. This was our wedding anniversary--- Ruined. What a lack of respect and waste of our time arguing. The room was not ready at our arrival, waited an hour and a half. The tubs are all dirthy and disgusting. The toilet water keeps running loudly after every use. Yes, you have to play with the handle to try to get some peace and quiet in the room. But don't bother to complain, you will be ignored. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Aruba Blows"
We went on vacation and are used to being treated special at all inclusive adult prices. Here, they really cater to cruise ship day trippers and on-site timeshare guests who have total access to the adults only all inclusive areas. Therefore, you are second rate if you have already prepaid (tipping is less than off the street) and they treat you badly. […] We had to pay several hundred dollars extra to get out of the all adult area since the rooms were really dreadful and small. We were the water and our across the street from the water and the view was blocked by cruise ships. Our room overlooked the utility entrance to a building and a construction crane. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A poor excuse for an island paradise"
The Renaissance was an old 70's motel that had been poorly maintained. The few updates were done by people with shoddy workmanship. The room was gross and had not been properly cleaned. We found the feminine hygiene products from a previous guest in the bathroom drawer. We did the all inclusive which was a joke. The meal was so tasteless, we'd been […] better off going to McDonald's. We stayed 6 hours and checked out because it was so disgusting. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Would never go back again!"
I am sorry to say we expected to have a great time in Aruba but it ended up being a bad vacation. The hotel staff we found to be very unhelpful, we had several problems and they did not seem to care, smoking is allowed every where in the hotel even when you are eating, restaurants very expensive, and just overall bad customer service we had one terrible […] night with no sleep all night, but again nobody cared.. "Not run by the Marriott that I expected."
Compared to other hotels in Aruba this place was more expensive and not worth the money. The bathroom had hair on the wall when we checked in and was not clean. Toilet was very hard to flush and the shower at times didn't have hot water. The bathroom sink didn't have cold water. Consider looking at other hotels before overpaying for the dirty room with […] slow internet service. We complained about a few things but nothing got done. The web site says they charge extra for some of the ammenities and don't say what. It turns out if you want the Internet service they charge for that and it is not even wirless and it is very slow. "Not what I expected"
I've had many friends stay at this location. Either I misunderstood or they don't know quality. My bathroom had last person in the room's hair on the floor. I had a "GREAT VIEW ROOM" it was a view of cars and homeless people. The car alarms went off well into the night. I would NEVER EVER stay here again. If I had 2 yrs free to stay here I would turn […] them down! Save your money stay elsewhere! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Don't hold your breath"
For the price that we paid I didnt feel l like we got bang for our buck. The hotels greatest amenity is the private island but besides that I was not impressed with the rooms, decor, and overall experience for the amount of money that we paid. The food was good, however, again, it is not worth the amount of money for all inclusive. The hotel staff did […] not handle themselves well, our room was hardly ever cleaned on time, their was construction next room over on our first night that woke us up at 8am and although they gave us an upgrade, because of rain, we had no running water for 2 days! I expected more from the staff to accomodate us in this hardship but they were very lax and werent sympathetic at all. Overall I give this hotel a 2/5. I am staying at the occidental next time. Forget the Mariott. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
